  1. I actually didn't fully understand how Sharon Apple controlled everyone through her singing other than "hypnosis". Figured Isamu broke out due to Myung's external stimuli.
  2. I'm wondering how different the Vars infection is different than Sheryl's V-type. Makes me wonder if there are many different strains of fold bacteria.
  3. So with ep 9 subs out we know the Vars is caused by fold bacteria in folks brains that get stimulated by the chemical reaction between the windemere apples and ruin's water. We also find out that Messer's Vars relapses as long as he's in intense combat even if there's no wind singer and there's no perfect medical treatment for Vars. Additionally, folks with fold receptors are resistant to Vars. To what degree we don't know. This is just conjecture but because the Walkure song treatment isn't instant it, makes me think it that there has to be a certain intensity level of "positive" fold waves before the Vars breaks it's hold.
  4. This is honestly one of my favorite eps coupled with Ep 8. Even though they're using the same song it feels very different in the action sequences. Freya's solo rendition had an sense of emotional urgency that's been lacking in most of Delta's songs. The group rendition this time was more up tempo and played well with Messer's vars struggle. I feel sorry for folks that love aerial battles but dropped Delta cause of the idolness. The dog fighting action has been top notch outside of the repetitive Keith/Messer crisscrossing dots. I *SWOONED* at the VF-31a's. I actually thought they were mass produced YF-30's! I don't know why but I find their fighter mode so very sexy.
  5. Hmm on the whole, Roid has it backwards with PC legacy. It would be a really great twist if in Windimere culture the youngest gained all the inheritance. In a way it would fit with their short life spans if they thought it as the youngest would benefit the most for having everything left to them since they have the longest to live.
  6. At thing point I've given Delta a pass on their quality of music (no Kanno). It's passable but unfortunately not memorable.
  7. Pretty interesting in the fact that like most Macross cannon, it open to interpenetration but doesn't necessarily impact the down stream technological development.
  8. I would also throw out that we don't know about Mirage's father. He might have been Zolan who have even more prominent pointed ears
  9. The real question now is if there's a war will there be an apple shortage in the rest of the cluster
  10. Yep, there as a shrine of time. Just as aside I really like they show how much Chuck and Mirage are NOT looking forward to fighting other "humans". Chuck really hits me as a fun loving soul who really believes that everyone can be one via culture and song. Just he's been in war and just hate it so much. Maybe it was just me but finding out that Mirage fought for the Spacey and has been to war really surprised me. I supposed I thought her character was just trying to live up to her family's legacy but hadn't been through the meat grinder yet.
  11. Actually this thought about Vars being more prevalent on repressed folk does make a lot of sense. Obviously, rouge and newly integrated zentradi are the most susceptible. It would also explain why Hayate was heavily recruited. Someone having someone free spirited makes it safer for them to operate around Walkure. Throw on top he has a lot of pilot potential, it make recruiting him a no brainer. On the flip side, the Messer getting Vars control at some point is obviously. Slightly less obvious would be that Mirage might get control at some point too due to her becoming even more serious. She would need a "culture shock" to wake her up maybe?.... Who ordered that KISSU?
  12. I also thinking the mercat and general "slice of life" on Ragna is to help show the viewers that there's a stark contrast in culture between Ranga and Windemere. It's been pointed out that Windemere colors are typically washed out and for the most part seem very serious in their approach to life. I do agree, it feels like we're getting introduced to so many characters at a breakneck speed. But since this is a group of idols and pilots I suppose that's the only way it make sense. On a side note. I wonder if there's a double connotation to the Windemere's actions like they're in a hurry due to the king/prince's condition. I'm mostly alluding to the fact he sings like young choir boy. Could it be he might lose power when he goes through puberty or something of that nature? It's well documented in a rather sordid history of drastic things done to preserve a boy's "angelic" voice.
  13. This ep was fantastic for world building. We get to see a lot of day by day normalcy of life on Ragna along with it's inhabitants. But really... DOSE VF1-EXs! All in all 10/10 ep which really makes me more excited!
  14. Pretty much agree with all the sentiment. The ep is solid and helps provide a lot of background to the situation everyone is in while still leaving plenty of mysteries to be discovered. I just wish there were better encodes of the show
  15. So finally was able to get through all the post in this thread and I wanted to through out a few cents of my own. For Delta watcher who haven't watched all of M7 what was shown is not even remotely close to the level of hamminess we know Kawamori is capable of. Those Delta watchers who saw the new years preview when it came out, we've and have months to really dig into what was shown and draw theoretical lines from the battlefield scene to plausible links to existing macross tech with some advancements. Based on these two things you're going to get massively different reactions to the ep. I know I was one of the folks that watched the NY preview when it came out and was VERY resistant to the craziness of having magical shoujo idols on the battlefield. However, after WEEKS or rewatches and discussion online I came around to the plausibility of everything being explainable in universe from a practical point of view. I think is VERY ok for people to have a bad vibe feel from the ep. Just give them time and let the show do the convincing. Heck it might not be their cup of tea. Something I wrote on reddit about 3 months ago when I came around to Delta's idea of idols At the end of the day, it's completely alright to have differing opinions espeically when there's so little to officially go on. To that end I say lets all just hang back, chill and see there Kawamori's crazy ride takes us.
