I did. I forgot there was a dedicated thread, so I just wrote about it in the General Movies thread. Tl;dr: I found it mildly better than the two worst movies (Quantum of Solace, Spectre), but not nearly as good as the two best ones (Casino Royale, Skyfall). The side characters, especially the new 007, not getting much to do was pretty disappointing.

Got two tickets for myself and a friend, and hopefully some more will RSVP and join in the next few weeks. I've been wanting to see this in theaters for such a long time. I hope there aren't any glaring issues with the presentation - stretching and/or cropping to fit widescreen screens, bad subtitles, etc.

Apparently people have already watched it despite a Nov. 19 premiere date? Was there something like a media early-access showing or something?
Well, regardless, impressions can be found here. Seems generally positive:

Wasn't expecting this today. Steam had a livestream discussing Deck development, hardware deep-dive, and more. Video link should skip past all the initial waiting:

Even better.

There are two sets of 5 missiles per launcher, right? Front and back? Or the ones visible are all?

I wish it was from Gundam NT. Perfectibility comes from an official animation short shown with the life sized Unicorn Gundam. It is alternate final form for the Unicorn and was used in the anime short instead of the Full Armor.
So a "What if..." design? An MSV, so to speak...
-
Keeping up with all the variants of the Unicorn, large and small, is such an affair. What are we up to now?
- 01 Unicorn, white/red
- 01 Unicorn FA, white/green, + FA equipment(, in manga, + spear axe)
- 01 Unicorn "psychoframe crystals version"???- 02 Banshee, black/gold (manga only)
- 02 Banshee, + railgun, + claw (anime default)
- 02 Banshee Norn, - railgun, - claw, + giant shield, + "wings," + grenade launcher attachment- 03 Phenex, gold/blue, + 2x giant shield
- 03 Phenex "NT version," same as above, + 2x shield "tails"- 04 Unicorn Perfectibility, white/blue, + 2x giant shield, + 2x shield "tails," + railgun, +claw, + "wings," + spear axe
- 04 Unicorn Perfectibility Divine, same as above, + partial FA equipment (backpack-mounted rocket launcher + grenade launcher + dual gatling guns, long-range rockets)Where does the Perfectibility even appear? I'm gonna guess it's Gundam NT...

I just listened to this episode of The Moth, a live storytelling... campaign? organization? Anyway, this episode is from Veterans' Day 2016. All three stories are good listens if you have the time, but the first one, "Good to Go," is most relevant: Ted Hartley talks about flying - and landing - the F9F Panther.

What makes you think that? That's Raimi Green Goblin in the background, not Raimi... what did they call him? New Goblin? The Goblin?

Boy, I'm probably going to catch grief for this....
I finished the anime last night. I really don't understand all the love for the show. It was entertaining, but not for a second did I think I was watching something special. I was actually pretty disinterested by the time it wrapped up. The only reason I kept watching was the time I alreday had invested.
Honestly, this was my first reaction, too. I purposely did NOT watch it until several years after its release, partly because I was an insufferable contrarian, partly because I was being hipster as crap, . "Pfft, Cowboy Bebop? Dragonball? I was into anime before it was cool. Watch some Tekkaman and get on my level, scrubs."
When I finally did watch it, I too was left thinking, "That's it?" I was ready for this life-changing pièce de résistance, and instead it was... what, five episodes of fairly standard crime drama interspersed between 20 episodes of standalone ie completely unmemorable filler? Booooooo!!!
It was and remains unique in the world of anime, though, and the music has definitely left an impression on me. A few rewatches later, I can better appreciate
what I've had to read into it in order to make it enjoyableUm... I mean, its nuances.1 hour ago, sqidd said:I'm going to speculate that a lot of people saw it when they were quite a bit younger and didn't have the same expectations, life experience, perspective, etc that they do now. But they have the emotional response that they did when they were younger. For me Star Wars is a perfect example. When I was a kid I thought it was the most amazing thing in the world. At 50yrs old I don't think I would be that impressed (if I were watching it for the first time).
This is a bit tangential, but I've always loved the different techniques they used in the original trilogy to get the lightsaber effects. Some of them were old, tried and true methods even for the time, and others were painstaking frame by frame manipulation of the film by hand. There's a real... I dunno, a "texture" that results, similar to hand-drawn cels vs. digital, that I greatly prefer over the subsequent trilogies' depictions. Even the latest trilogy with their fancy shapes and warbling effects and actual lighting effects I find to take away some of the allure of lightsabers as the original trilogy made me imagine them to have.

One thing to definitely keep in mind about all of these releases is that I think all of the Delta valks have been available at release day, at some vendors.
I can't say that for certain, but I remember regretting several of the pre-order nights when the release date rolled around, and people reported they were available at MSRP. You just have to be quick about that, because while the sites might not be hammered like a pre-order night, they might not keep in stock for very long.
They also seem to show up more often and at lower prices on the secondhand market than other releases seem to do. So all might not be totally lost.
Well, that's another night of madness over and done with. Gonna hurt in the morning. G'night, all.
-
Yeah, I'm honestly surprised Luna Park are STILL accepting orders; I'd have thought they'd close it down the moment preorders started. How are they guaranteeing stock? Especially when they take payment up front...
-
I can only hope that future preorders will be less painful once Macross is finally fully unshackled and stretch its wings to the international market...

Got lucky with Amiami. How did y'all find the pages on HLJ and Amazon Japan?
