  1. I wouldn't be surprised if September was the new date
  2. It's probably going to take them that long to get the mold done! Toynami tends to like to base their Robotech work on already-existing molds. 2 years is actually sooner than I thought it would be. I was expecting 2007-2008.
  3. I'm not too worried about my first Alpha having the Beta link. I'd prefer it did but if not, I'll just get another one later for the Beta hook-up as I do want to display the Alpha in good old battloid mode
  4. If I had my choice of production companies to produce the Foundation movies, Dreamworks would be at the top of the list. But Foundation itself....I don't know how well it would translate to film. The entire first book is just a collection of short stories, some of which are about 10 pages long. From the second book on you do get characters and situations that carry on for the duration of the book, but you need to get over that initial hurdle. I'm not saying that it can't be done, but it will take some clever writing. I'd have to second Dreamworks being a great choice. SS having the rights, I'm sure if that's such a good thing these days. The first book could probably be done pretty well without any huge problems. You wouldn't get to know the characters as well in the first as in the second but it would still make for an interesting movie.
  5. Haven't really gone through I, Robot yet but I've gone through all the other Robot novels by Asimov as well as some not by Asimov. The movie seems way off. I can see there being some 3-law problems in one or two robots in the mix but a whole batch? As for the Robot series itself. It wasn't originally a prelude to the Foundation series. They were independant of each other until some time in the '80's when Asimov decided to join the universes together. The 3rd Robot novel w/ Elijah Baley starts in on the theory of psycohistory and continues in Robots and Empire, explaining why there are no robots in the Foundation era and why Earth is unknown as the origin of humans. Asimov then does the Foundation preludes, introdocing more of the old series into the mix (mainly in the first prelude book).
  6. The new pics of the Scott Alpha do look better, I must say. June as the new release with someone already suggesting July? Why am I not surprised Maybe I'll have a Beta by 2006? Or is it Cyclones in 2006 and Beta in 2008?
  7. Well, I put my order in at BBTS. We'll see how this one goes. If I like it, I'll pick the others up, otherwise... I'll probably just wait for the Beta and pick one up for my Alpha. Now where's the news about Cyclones!?
  8. Kevin said it was delayed until March 2004 in his forums... So that might just knock them out of the first half of 2004...
  9. I'm in Chatsworth as well. Went up to Topanga Canyon and Devonshire and got some pics of the fire north of the 118. The shots don't do it justice but it looked pretty mean. From what the news stations were saying, a lot of the fire fighters are trying to hold out there and prevent the fire from hitting south of the freeway. Should be an interesting night for them and I hope they're able to hold the fire back. Worst part for me was that I've got a wood shake roof My wife and I knew we wanted to replace it and were planning on it for next year. I'm starting to wish we'd had the cash to do it this year instead. Oh well. So far, so good. I've watered down the roof several times now. I just hope it's enough to last the night as I think I'm going to try to get some sleep. Here's some not-all-that-great pictures I took of the fire north of the 118 (from Devonshire and Topanga) http://home.socal.rr.com/niomosy/images/si...simi_fire_2003/ Right now we've got everything important near the door and the cars in the driveway instead of the garage for a quick getaway. Hopefully we won't have to resort to that. We're pretty close to some of the evacuation areas so it's been nerve-racking. Hope it turns out okay. Best of luck to everyone near the fires. Hope we all come out of it okay.
  10. Yeah, Quinton was on KROQ the other morning and was promoting the movie. While he didn't mention the R rating specifically he did mention that he had to do it for the U.S. audience. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the non-B/W version of that as it was an awesome scene! I'm with you on seeing it again. I'll probably go this weekend with a friend or two if they can make it.
  11. I actually wouldn't mind Toynami giving the MPC Cyclones a shot. They're a big part of Mospeada / New Gen so I think they deserve it. Honestly, I'm half expecting them to take the Imai molds and just make some modifications to that. Now if they could just get it to the size of the large Gakken Scott / Stick If they don't do any Cyclones, at least I've got my Gakken to keep me content.
  12. Might see if the wife'll still get me that Dell Axim. If so, that's it for me. Otherwise.... TF 20th Anniverssary Optimus Prime 1/48 VF-1J 1/48 Fast Pack (not the t.v. pack) Depends on what the wife decides she wants (we've given up on the whole surprise thing).
  13. I don't believe in MISB for my own toys. If I'm buying it, I'm taking it outta that box. Nothing of mine lasts long in its box once I get it home
  14. Why do I have this feeling that Toynami are reading this and taking notes? At least give us better platic, Toynami!

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

I'll pass on the 1/60 GBP. Not overly interested in the 1/60's to be honest. I'll wait patiently for the 1/48
  16. It really depends on what you want and where in L.A. you want to live. You can be doing pretty good on 50k without any problems (at least so long as you're not looking at buying a house... if so, you'd best be saving LOTS... even condos and townhomes).
  17. You can do fine in L.A. on far less then 200k a year....
  18. Let me see. Yes, I want to have to remove my battery in order to change games
  19. Dunno. If they do a GBP then I might get a 1S to put a strike pack on and use the Hikaru 1J for the GBP. Otherwise, I'll probably skip the Roy 1S and put the strike pack on the Hikaru 1J. I've already got a 1/55 Roy. That's suiting me pretty well at this point.
  20. Probably the Sega Nomad. It had the Sega Genesis library to chose from plus had 6 buttons for games like Street Fighter and such. Sounds like a winner to me! Now if I only had one... Right now I've got a GBA and it's pretty good. I've never been a huge fan of the Nintendo handhelds, though. A lack of a backlit screen is annoying as hell. I wish they'd brought the SP out in the first place as I don't really want to bother buying another GBA just to have the backlit screen. Damn Nintendo Also had a Sega Game Gear in the past. A better system than the Game Boy, definitely. Shame that I lost the GG when my car was stolen Had the SMS adapter for it to play some of the old SMS games that I had. I'm curious to see what happens with Sony's possible handheld system.

    Yamato 1/60 VT-1

The VT-1 is pretty good. The colors are a little more subdued than I'd have preferred but not bad. I wish it came with the arm armor like the Bandai's did. The main complaint was the lower quality plastic in the arms (it's especially noticable in the hands) as compared to some of the older 1/60's (all I have from the older ones is a Max 1A to compare to). It's a pretty good Valk. If Yamato does a 1/48, I'd likely sell the 1/60, though.
  22. Mainly just that I only really want certain ones. I'm getting the ones that I want If I had the money, I'd really only get a few more Valks than what I've got and what I'm planning on getting as I'm not really a completist. I'd probably get some more G1 Transformers, the Gakken Legioss, an Orgoid and probably put just save up for a couple of nice basses and an amp along with a few little vacations next year.
  23. Mmmmmm. 1/48 Super Ostrich. Now if they'd toss in the arm armor on the 1/48 like Bandai did on the 1/55. I like the look better.
  24. There's always Babelfish. Not the greatest but it can help.
  25. Now if they would just make VT-1 and VE-1 1/48's....
