  1. BRIAN... My condolences. Those were great models, and it's sad oto see them go. After having them all this time you never made a backup? How long did it take you to model it in the first place? Never did get to see that 1J in battroid mode either... WOLF: Yeah, I wouldn't want to take away from the destroids, so the crop may be the best way to go. :Dat
  2. Hi guys, Just threw a composite together to see what this thing *might* look like. I think your ideas for different crops are great, but there's something to be said about the raw black space around the macross for isolation of other works. Since the fortress itself is highly detailed, if the macross takes up the majority of the shot, the added mechs may get lost in the etail. This is going to happen anyways, but it would make it easier if we had the macross take up a portion of the space with lots of space around to focus on other art as well. That's not exactly what I meant but would give you an idea of the value of the black space. What do you think? :Dat
  3. Are these images originally CG models or model kits? They look fantastic. :Dat
  4. Holy Crap!!! Damn, I'm a moderate Star Wars fan but that thing is wicked... Nice work WOLF! And BRIAN: Incredible, though I feel you nede to add a VF-0 to that line to make it truly complete... :Dat
  5. I agree with everyone in stating Rohby's backups are just that. I think a true Macross fan would not want to pass up the chance to get a JM if they could, but a backup could never replace an original. I used to have a JM when I was a kid, a MAX, And not thinking I could ever have paid the 150 they were going for I decided on a Rohby JM. BUt now that I see I may be able to get one completed (I wouldn't have to paint or what not) perhaps that would have been better for me personally... but the allure of making my own valk definitely has it's plusses and the accessories pack.. can't get that outside of Rohby. So hat's off to you Rohby. I have 2.. and they are superb! :Dat
  6. Hey guys, WOLF: Man, if you can get us that critical first step I think it will be a big incentive for those of us who are sloucnhing on our valks to get em up and running for the party. Your model is incredible and I look forward to being a part of it. AGENT ONE: It was modelled after the 60, but I am not usre what the big differnece if any ther eis between al the otehrs.. dimensions? One things for sure, the head I made sucks. I Prefcer DOKS or AZTEKS over this one. Gonna have to redo it all over again. DOK: Crash it will for sure. WIth all the calks and all the textures, it would be nice to see a liner at the bottom that stated the render time and total pixel count. Insanity galore! :Dat
  7. C'mon... M0... was there any doubt to who would win this poll? :Dat
  8. What exactly is the Thunder Hammer. Cuz if it was that all white battle armor for the VF-1, that would be sick... :Dat
  9. I was thinking of a modification on his mod, where you leave the hip pivots ball and socket in place but remove the square or hex pegs for the swingbar. I'm gonna try this for sure. Just a matte rof doing everything right. I am a bit nervous, but I was able to score a cheap 1A so it shouldn't be too bad. We'll see how it goes. The other thing taht bugs me is the the need for the legs to pivot on the rear for the leg attachment on the back of the calf. This means no fast pack support, so I'm gonna have to think about a solution for that as well. Didn't quire understand the heatshield thing, but one thing is for sure, this proves that a perfect transformation on a 1/60 really is possible and that Yamato just didn't want to do it... Now, where to get the metal for the bars... from the looks of it.. he got it off a desk bench....? :Dat
  10. Saw that too, but would still be nice to know what they were saying there. Even though they are great illustrations of the process, the verbiage would be very helpful. Anyone care to entertain us with more babblefish? hahahaha :Dat
  11. Thre is a ton of wonderful work here, when can we start to get a preliminary of this thing going? I know I never "officially" joined the project, but if you will all have me, I'd be happy to contribute, and it seems to me if we wait for a bunch of guys making their own valks, we may never see this thing come to light. Got any real things we can move forward with? It's all so exciting! hahahaha :Dat
  12. Hmmm... that adds some light to the subject but bablefish always confuses me and gives me a good laugh in the process. Thanks for the effort. Think I'm gonna look at the pics and try my own version of a custom perfect transformation. :Dat
  13. You know what, just went on to see some more pages, looks like he has some tutorial up for how it was done. Was wondering, can anyone provide a translation? Would love to pull this one off. Thanks again :Dat
  14. I was cruzing the web looking for customs since i wanted to do a few of my own. I love the 1/60 line and always thought it would be great to have a 1/60 perfect transformation. Now everyone knows that YAMTO could have made a perfect transformation 1/60 like they did on the 48 if they wanted to, but those bigwigs at YAMATO wanted to save the good stuff for the 48... og well, our loss. Then I saw this (and some of you may have already seent this too) 1/60 YAMATO Perfect Transformation off the valkyrie creations page and figured this is a wonderful idea, and I'd love to make this conversion to at least 1 of my valks. I can't read the text so I don't know what to do, but this guy has the right idea and it pretty much solves almost all of the complaints (or at least the major one) surrounding the 60 vs the 48. Has anyone tried this or knowexactly what he did or what materials he used to pull this off? Thanks :Dat
  15. I know it looks just like the 1J version but I am happy with the 1A head and just wanted to get you thoughts on the proportions since I've had trouble with it in the past: Thanks :Dat
  16. Was wondering, for those of you have done YAMATO 1/60 customs: What type of paint should I be using if I want to make a custom 1/60? I want to match the paint texture as close as possible to the Yamto paints in order to aintain consistency with the other valks, but don't know what kind to use. It appears to be more of a matte and less of a gloss paint so I ant to keep that feel. ALso wanted to know if those who have done it used paint strippers or anything like that before repainting your valks. Any ideas? Thanks :Dat
  17. I hear ya UXI, and I believe that a 1/60 could be either modded to have a swing bar like the 1/48 with diecast support for durability and if everythign else stayed the same, the 60 would be the perfect valk in terms of price, sculpt, and size. The 48's are huge and expensive. But I'd like to have just 1... But I don't think there is any way it could make my dislike or look poorly upon my 60's. :Dat
  18. Question for those of you who got Rohby's backups: How many of those out there who have back ups were considering getting an original but did not? Kinda makes me wonder too... at $50 for a JM backup from Rohby, how long would I have had to wait before I could have gotten a completed one for a few more bucks like you did? :Dat
  19. Hi all, Just wanted to get some opinions out ther ein regard to what the owner is feeling once they got a hold of their first 48. Now, I have all the 60 valks except the super O and the elint, but hope to at some point after the prices come down. Never was able to get a 48, but would like to someday and just won a 60 1A (used) for $23 to make a max TV custom. Anyhow, I will get a 1A, probably the rick, and due to cost will probably only get that one and no others with aa fast pack set. I love my 1/60s, I have been in awe of them since I got them. Don't like the leg thing and find it liveable but difficult in gerwalk, but otherwise, in battroid, once transformed, they don't bother me in the bit. Despite QC issues that vary from valk to valk on the 60, they are amazing pieces of work. My question is this... Can the 48 really make you hate your 60's? I can't imagine. I've seen som many threads and posts about folks hating on their 60s once they get a 48 and doubtless about the beauty of a 48, I just can't see how it can make you hate your 60's and start dumping them. Are there folks out there who still love their 60's despite having a 48? Where are you? I seriously hope I still love my 60's once I get the 48, and wish there were more folks out there who did. Remember, they were the set that rescued all you fans from the chunky monkeys and the MPC's. If nothing else, they have historical claim and are very valuable. :Dat

    Banpresto Valks

The Banprestos... are lacking. I got 4 of em, and mostly because I got a stea of a price for em, even less than what people here paid. I have 4 of them which I paid a total of 27$ so about 4.50 a piece shipped. Anyhow, my first one was the Fokker Strike, and man, if I didn't spend a good 45 minutes posing that sucker and getting the pieces to hold in place. The arms at the hsoulders fell off, the leg armor wouldnt stay on, the backpack flopped over, the hand with the gun pose... wouldn't hold the gun. I could go on, but you get the idea. I do have to say this though... for the price I got them for, with a little work, these babies couldbe great. Proportionally, theya re quite nice, and the detail on the armor specifically is wonderful, especially at that small size. I think I'll have to custom each one of them, but when I am don, I am sure they will be splendid. Materials are weak, but there's potential there. Just know, in this case, you really get what you paid for, htough the price I generally see for these are from $13 - $18, I thikn they are more worth $5 or so. Just my 2 cents. :Dat
  21. I know noting of Japan other than I would liketo visit there at some point. Looks like you're gonna have a field day out there. How long they have you there for? :Dat
  22. If the packs truly did sell out, YAMATO would be foolish to not make more. Just be patient, all in good time. You'll see, in about 6 months to a year from now, I'll be getting my first 1/48 and fast pack set.... all at once in a gift pack, and at a fraction of what you have paid. Dat
  23. Very nice! I love the hands. The Valk itself looks so clean... man.... gotta work onmy model big time. Just doesn't hold up to all these I see on this thread. Battroid? Dat
  24. Anyone got some ref pics as to how the Fast Packs actually are supposed to be attached to the backpack? Thanks
  25. Very nice, WOLF. I gotta get me one of those 1/48s as well. Working from pictures just is not cutting it. Hopefully, they'll come out with a goft set on the Rick 1J so I can get em all in 1 shot... Keep up the good work, man! Dat
