  1. This is what I did. Figured with a 1J and a seperate fast pack set, you get it all... everything, you get: The 1/48 Extra hands AND orginal hands Strike Set Super Set With the 1J super set.. no strike cannon... weak.... Now if only they had swappable heads, you'd own all the VF-1's :Dat
  2. Yeah you are, but you only need 1... Trust me on this one, just got my 1J and strike set, and won't be gettin more... :Dat
  3. A few votes, no comments. Well, the Yamato offer is limited so it will expire, so whether or not Rohby does it now or later really does not matter. The notion of clear fastpacks from head to toe is quite appealing, but considering that the Joke Machine was 50, the amount of labor being put into it justified the price, and all those little pieces. Unless the material is more expensive than the labor, I'd think a $35 price range is decent given the relative ease of the cast compared to little JM parts and no asembly, and 45-50 for a complete recast where we wouldn't have to sacrafice any of our existing fast pack parts. On the other hand, there is something to be said for saying a casting will be done before Yamato's campaign ends... :Dat
  4. AZ: I love it. Looks comfy, not a bad place to be when shootin down baddies. :Dat
  5. A Quick Transformation movie: VF-1A Transformation :Dat
  6. Hi guys, The model is based primarily on the 1/60th, so you're right CHRONOCIDAL, and the landing gear... you're also right, it's crap. Spent little to no time on it so it's no where as true to what it should be, and the wheels are nothing but donuts from MAYA. I really will have to make those better. Other than that, the model has a few 1/48 type modifications in there since the 1/48 is superior, but I still envy AZTEK's upper leg/thigh area, it's got that roundness to it I want to get but have failed miserably to model each time. I want to add afew more panel lines to the chest and the remodel the legs so I can put panel lines on them before I texture but I'll try and post a transformation movie here if I can. :Dat
  7. Thanks DOK! That's exactly what I meant. I'll have to take care of that once I get home and see how it works out. Just a few more details on the valk and I'll be conmpletely done modelling. :Dat
  8. VLENHOFF: What camera are you using? Digital or film? Can't imagine it would be film... I'm thinking DSLR. :Dat
  9. DOK: When animating, where do you chnage the setting so that the animation does not interpret any loose frames... or in other words, so that it moves the way you tell it to. I did some animating and the thing moves like it's organic as opposed to mechanical.. know what I mean? :Dat
  10. Just got my first 1/48 Yamato VF, so I made a few proportion changes, mostly on the size of the fastpacks: :Dat
  11. OK, so no disrespect intended, but on paper, the Coast Guard and the Marines... Navy, right? Didn't wanna make it all complex. So for those of you who wanna take a shot at me for forgetting omitting thise in my sellection... I say... BRING IT O........ ++++++++ Connection Dropped ++++++++++ Just kidding ya'll I've nothing but repect for all folks in uniform... God Bless and Happy Holidays! :Dat
  12. So my wife and I were discussing this in bed one night, and ther eare a few trends we noticed about the Macross fan base here at Macrossworld and I wanted to do an "official" survey... Here is the second: Are you married? I'm gonna go ahead and sayi think that "yes" most folks here are married... because the fan base here are far from total toy geeks, and mech fanboys, but your average guy who happened to love the Robotech/Macross series and has taken it into their adult llife... :Dat
  13. So my wife and I were discussing this in bed one night, and ther eare a few trends we noticed about the Macross fan base here at Macrossworld and I wanted to do an "official" survey... Here is the second: Are you in the Military or did you join? Not sure how strong of a suspicion this is, but I did notice a trend in the Mass CG thread of air force folks... wanted to see if the trend extended beyond that. :Dat
  14. So my wife and I were discussing this in bed one night, and ther eare a few trends we noticed about the Macross fan base here at Macrossworld and I wanted to do an "official" survey... Here is the first: How old are you? If our trend iscorrect, the demographic should be between the ages of 27 and 31 where the spike is since this was about the time that the ROBOTECH cartoon came out when we were young. There is another thread, but it was not in poll fashion, this will make it easier to see. :Dat
  15. I have one... she gives me the stink eye... all I can do is frown and look the other way... I am a sad 29 year old man/boy.... hahahaha :Dat
  16. And while I'm on it.. HOLY CRAP! I've never paid this much for a toy in my life.. and I don't remember seeing toys this pricey when I was but a wee lass... GEEZ! :Dat
  17. You know, I dunno about you guys but I tend to use EBAY as my scale in terms of what I should expect to pay under the assumption that EBAY prices tend to go less than commercial prices. Granted, shipping needs to be considered too, and most of the 48 stuff that comes from overseas vs. the US have outrageous shipping prices ranging from 25-45 bucks. At any rate, I only intend to get one of 48's, and I figure if Yamato may be releasing a 1/48 GBP armor set, the 1/46 Hikaru 1J was the best bet if I'm gonna have only one since it would be the best match for anything that Yamato releases for the 48 line. Also, although the 1J FP comes with an FP of a slightly diff sculpt and color, it doesn't have the strike cannon. If the 1/60's are a measure, a super valk is about $20-$30 cheaper than a strike valk so the difference between getting an armor set with a strike cannon vs one without would make a significant diff in price especially since the strike armor set comes with the nosecone to make a super valk if you so wanted to. With that said, I have not seen a 1J on EBAY go for less than $135 shipped. I have not seen a strile armor set go for less than $65 shipped, and I have not seen a 1J FP go for less than $180 shipped. So doing the match and adding $10 bucks just to get a cannon, I figured 190$ would be a fair price. I'm sure some of you may be able to get better or may have seen better, and the prices are likely gonna drop from 10-30 dollars in the future, but hopefully, I've done the right thing here. Now all I have to do is wait and see if this valk is everything everyone says it is. I'm sure I won't be dissapointed. :Dat
  18. Finally gonna join the club and ordered my 1/48 1J. Got the valk and a seperate Strike Armor Set (cuz I had to have the cannon) for 190$ shipped. Was this a good deal, and what have others paid? This is definitely gonna be my only 1/48 and I pray I have the strength to resist a Max and Miriyz cuz I know it's gonna happen... :Dat
  19. COBYWAN: I've seen your stuff before. That looks superb. Just womndering, sending models through the motions to have it done.. what does it cost? :Dat
  20. BRIAN: Beautiful man! Still love the renders you put out. Theylook soo good. DG: I'd like to be able to make an arm or a leg, parent it up and then duplicate a mirror for the opposite side, but can't seem to do it and can only do by parts and then re parent each peice individually. Is there a better way to do this cuz it just takes too much work. :Dat
  21. I model in polygons so all my pieces are closed as well. Like Aztek said, I always wanted to go for realistic as much as possible so my vlak has no morphs and each piece is an independant piece and not just a shell. The transformation modes don't cheat either (other than the swing bar). If I had the capability, or even the money, I'd definitely go for a solid model of the CG. :Dat
  22. Hey Zeta, What application are you using? :Dat
  23. With that said then, what mode does the YAMATO non morphing toy look best in? And which looks better for a non transformaing model? the Hasegawa cone, or the DYRL model sheet curved cone? I suspect it's as Aztek said... a compromise of whatever looks best to you. :Dat
  24. Just wanted to know what the improvements over the older 1/48's are on the rick 1J. Trying to decide if I should go for a less expensive Hikaru 1A or go for the new Rick 1J with the nice new hands. Are there improvements in stability, transformation, etc? Any new sculpts for any part of the design? Thanks :Dat
