So, while waiting for decals for my Sea King to turn up, I thought I'd try my hand at scratch building a T50 turret in 1/16 for a future build of 'my' M113 in East Timor in 1999.
Luckily a mate works at the Australian War Memorial. He arranged access to the M113A1 in storage for a reference run.
It's a small turret, but a relatively complicated assembly of flat plates.
The turret race spacer ring (my terminology, may not be prototypical):
And some rough work on the mantlet, with the Aber .50 & .30 cal MG barrels.
Thanks for looking.

And so ends the saga of the Nimrod MR4:
And all is now right with the world.

Yeah we sat in ours getting frustrated all looking at the floor waiting for rounds to start punching though it and wanting to kick the navy guy off the Door GPMG! Not a nice feeling.
How did you chip the floor like that?
Waiting for fire never is a nice feeling...
The floor chipping was pretty simple to do - base coat, followed by Mr Hobby MR.MASKING SOL NEO applied via dabbing a torn-off bit of sponge into it, applying it more heavily in high traffic areas. This was followed by the top coat.
Once the top coat was dry, I rubbed my fingertip over the dried masking fluid, chipping the top coat.
HTH.

God I havent been in a SeaKing since 2000! Shark 07 "Suai Sally" The Timor Express of 817 Sqn International Rescue. Looking at the interior of that model brings back memories, like why the hell does it only have a door and weapon station on one side?? Does the Navy only ever flying to contact sideways? Love how you've scuffed up the deck.
Yeah, baffles me a bit, too. Never been in a Sea King: experience limited to the normal UH-1, H-60, Mi-17....& the Mi-26!
This'll be a SAR bird, so unarmed. Thanks for commenting.

I've got a start on my first Airfix Westland Sea King - a HU.5. This the new tool Airfix 1/72 kit & will accompany my converted SH-3H and, in turn, will be joined by a HAR.3.
The interior was converted...
And painted.
Floor chipped with Neo mask.
Quite a bit different to the OOB HAR.3, I think you'll agree:
Should get the fuselage together this week.
All comments welcome.

Nice lighting on that Yamato. The engines look great.
Seconded.

Just received my GERWALK -1A & -1S kits. Very impressive.

One of the VF-1 Riders did one for Shizuoka.
Where'd the VF-1 come from?
-
Yep ten points & three thumbs up on your Max. Perfect!
-
That Max -1A looks fantastic! Love the Wave 1/100 kits.

Looks like a DYRL? cockpit.
Still, easy to modify into a SDFL instrument panel, at least.

Then I'll have to enjoy the pictures of yours when completed!
You're meant to build them?!

As long as this thing isn't some $500.00+ web exclusive, sign me up!!
Probably wouldn't discourage me...

Hmmm. That nose cross-section...

I can see myself buying quite a few CF.
Wonder when the Gimix 1/144 Q-Rau, Glaug, & Regult are coming?

He looks great! Yeah, you could definintely find some buyers for this here. - MT

Just need a 1/700 GPB-1 marked up as Hikaru's.

1/100?
Edit: probably should've read the topic title.

The other thing to note with the Macross gunpods is they would need a belt of some sort with lots of flex in it to allow the rounds to be wrapped like that shown around the barrels in a double stack. So belt links should also be getting ejected out an earlier port ahead of the spent cases. Linkless wouldnt work in the space they have around the barrels.
If you look how tightly the linkless system is bound around the drum in the A-10, maybe there's enough room in the GU-11?

Thanks!

Any more information on that half fighter/half GERWALK mode VF-1EX?

I'm not seeing anything I don't like with these.
