  1. yes it was very clever but in most cases it wouldn't be enough surface area to influence significant maneuvers. If they enlarged it then it wouldn't look true to the planes original form. That's why I thought having the exhaust nozzles 2D vectoring (vertical) would further compensate for no elevators. Watching the video again the exhaust nozzles definitely do not vector. Both the models seem to struggle to get airborne initially.

Or maybe my understanding of aerodynamics is too feeble..

2D vector would be good. Another method of getting the right AoA is deflecting both rudders inward, pushing the tail down. Legacy Hornets do this.

I guess leading edge slats & flaps on a R/C model are a bit much to ask for?

  2. If I could figure the spoiler tag thing, I'd say which parts that weren't in the book that were in the movie that could've been jettisoned so to include at least one part that was in the book.

Still, I'm considering a rewatch this weekend.

  3. COIN birds are starting to become very popular now due to the shrinking of a lot of military budgets. Over here in the UAE they are using militarized crop dusters for border patrol aircraft.

The UAE gifted some of their armed Air Tractors to Egypt. Got to see them in action in the Sinai last year.

  4. The VF-1 Valkyrie in the foreground may not necessarily be an "S" type variant. Remember, they are "Kakizaki type" and "Max type" VF-1A's, which are almost entirely white on the top side of the fighter mode.

Don't have any information about brown squadron. HD screen captures don't show much, but seem to support the assumption that they are all "A" variants of the VF-1. Pics attached.

There's a shot in that episode of Roy in his VF-1S flying with CF VF-1A. The VF-1A seem to have a black skull & crossbones on the tail, but I've never seen a clear shot.

    Anyone help?
