  1. Still wondering if I should get this. Could also fork out an additional $30 for an alto version :X This hobby is going to be the end of me.

That is entirely up to you, I think both are cool, but If you want to get a hero Valk (Alto) there is a reissue of the VF-25F coming in July, you should be able to get it at retail price.

Yes, Macross collecting can be hazardous to your bank account. Good luck.

  2. Sorry, the intake cover. No issues that I know of with my landing gear doors.

    -b.

No problem, I was just wondering what you meant. Thank you for the clarification.

The landing gear door might just be me... No matter I am still very happy with the Ozma 29.

  3. The intakes have always been a little finicky on all of my 29's for some reason, the Ozma 29 being no exception. The left has a tendency to pop up if it get's hit/bumped just the right way but 99% of the time it stays into place.

    -b.

    Kaneda,

When you say the left is that the intake cover or the front landing gear door?

  4. The intake covers seem fine on mine, fairly secure and don't pop out. I did notice that it takes a bit of finese to get the front landing doors sit flush compared to my other YF-29s. Not sure if it just me, is anyone else noticing this?

  5. Was thinking of getting 2 Valks but that idea went down the drain. Only going to be able to get one now as I just placed an order on a RAH NEO Eva Unit 1. That ridiculously big figure is too hard to resist. Unless I manage to sell off one of my guitar or something I'll be able to fork out something for another Valk.

As for the Pre-order strategy all I have to say is that I came in the game late :X Was more into Gundams and Mazinger/ Getter (Super robot) stuff. Just found out about the DX Chogokin Macross line early this month and become obsessed with getting one.

Good luck and happy hunting for Macross and welcome to the madness. Like Shukenzero said there is too much to buy. :)

  6. Goodness... imagine what'll happen if they release multiple weapon pods... people will need (number of weapon pods) x 3 for each mode :0

Hopefully the 4 I've got will suffice O_o

My guess it that weapon pod addons for the YF-30 will be Bandai's answer to the Super/Armored/Tornado Part for the other Valks. If they do in that direction, I hope they sell it as a set with different weapon pods, not one weapon pod at a time. Knowing Bandai, it will be each one separately so they can bleed us further for money. hahaha...

  7. ULessa, you have to play the pre-order game with Bandai products. I would like to say I strategically buy these, but it really goes like this:

Bandai announces a new thing, then I go hrmm...

The pre-order opens and I order as many as I can lol.

    Exactly :)

  8. Hmm, can anyone enlighten me on how to preview shipping cost (EMS) for Mandrake. Wanna to check out the total price for the Ozma.

I am not sure there is a way to preview the cost for shipping on Mandarake. You submit the order and then they send you an invoice email that includes the shipping.

Depending what country you are located it may vary, but EMS shipping to the US is about 3200 yen.

  9. I received my Sheryl today from AmiAmi. It's the biggest box I've ever received from Japan, ever. I don't know if my coworkers will like me taking photos of it though. lol

I like how you use the vienna sausage can for size comparison. :)

  10. I have never heard of this method. I have a VF-0 Shin that got a stress mark on the head laser (my fault). Would this technique help? Could someone explain the steps in more detail? I don't want to mess it up lol.

    Loop,

I had read about the hair dryer method a while ago on another forum, but never needed to use it till now. Here are steps that I did.

    1. I covered the figure in rags so only the area I wanted hair dryer to hit was exposed (the Valk looked like it was going into surgery).

    2. Set the hair dryer on low speed and hot for temp.

    3. Held it so the nozzle was about 4" - 6" away from the fig and waved it over the area making sure not to stop in one place for too long.

    4. Keep an eye on the stress mark, stop every few passes to see if the stress mark faded.

    5. Once the stress mark was no longer visible, stop and let the fig cool down.

    Hope that helps.

  11. Alright, I gave the hair dryer a try on the stress marks on my Ozma and am happy to report that its much better. 1 line is no longer visible and the other is considerable less obvious.

  12. So I'm thinking a few of us have some "gently used" copies. The wings don't fold back nearly as far as the VF-25 wings do and I'm willing to bet a potential clueless previous owner tried to push them farther then they should go. I just checked mine out, if you were to push too hard you would stress the plastic in exactly those same spots.

I thought the same thing, on mine there were no signs of a reseal. The outside tape and inner tape were factory. I think Bandai hired Godzilla after he retired from making movies in Japan and is now packing Valkyries.

  13. Thank you everyone. I'll take more photos this weekend (Gerwalk and Battroid).

Kaneda, I couldn't find a nice skull image online so I just drew one in illustrator. haha

David, hope your 29 doesn't have the stress marks that Scyla and mine have. :(

  14. Having the stress marks on the fuselage didn't stop me from taking some pics. I just Photoshopped the stress marks out.

I'll figure out how to fix the stress marks, but for now here's a few pics. Enjoy!

I like this shot the most, I think it has the Space Pirate Captain Harlock feel to it.

  15. So I received mine from NY today. It has some stress marks around the main hinges for the wings (the ones to angle the wings for the backpack inwards). The hinges are very stiff so maybe that is the reason why. They are very small but I'm worried that they get bigger. Has anyone success with removing stress marks with a hair dryer on such a Bandai Frontier Valkyrie?

Other than that this is a gorgeous plane. The cockpit canopy is a bit dark or the main color of the Valkyrie is not dark enough for the canopy. Not sure....

The yellow trim is somewhere a bit light so it has a green tint but qc-wise it is much better than my YF-29 30th Anniversary and it has hard plastic head lasers too! Yay :)

I received mine today and I have the same issue.... Opened the box and that's the first thing I saw, the stress marks. :(

I am asking the same question as Scyla, any suggestions to remove or reduce the stress marks via the hair dryer method?

  16. I don't see any difference on my end. Wish I could see for myself in person, but NY is dragging its feet horribly on this one.

Its a very subtle difference, barely noticeable in the lighting conditions I have setup for photos. I know what you mean about NY dragging its feet. I have yet to see my Ozma 29 in person, but that wait will soon be over.

Mine are coming Fed Ex tomorrow! Cool pics Saburo

VM, awesome and thank you. :)

It's a little more noticeable in some pictures vs. others (do I need to say that they're still very nice shots? :D) but I think that lighting could be playing a big factor in that.

I'm kind of excited for mine to arrive since these are the only Super Parts I've ordered for a 29 variant.

    -b.

KB, Thank you for the compliment. :)

I agree about the lighting playing a factor and also that I shoot with a longer exposure time, the camera is catching the subtle difference in the plastics/materials.

  17. it looks like the super parts are a different shade of tan compared to the 29

I do notice a slight color difference with the YF-29 and super parts. I'll compare the colors during the day.

Also my lighting and camera settings might be exaggerating the difference ever so slightly.
