You're absolutely right, for the most part the VT and VE bodies are identical except for the heads. But there's also another difference, it could be minor or it could require a serious modification to fighter mode. In fighter mode (no FAST Packs), the VT-1 Ostrich head is completely hidden within the body (maybe that's why it's called "Ostrich"). Unlike the other VF's, the eye-piece on the head doesn't face forward in fighter mode either. Instead it faces down, then is completely pulled into the body. Check out this pic taken from Mr. March's awesome MMM. There may be enough room in Yamato's existing 1/48 to completely encompass the head in fighter mode, or Yamato's going to have their work cut out for them. Either way, neither Bandai's 1/55 nor Yamato's 1/60 Ostrich managed to figure this one out.
-
Doubtful. Yamato would need to do some moderate tooling to their VF-1 molds and create entirely new FAST Packs from scratch. On top of that, I don't think Yamato could sell variants of the Elintseeker and Ostrich to make it worth their while. I mean how many paint variants could they plausibly market for a training and intelligence gathering mecha?
-
I think BoB would be flattered to see that you're using his artwork as your reference.
-
I think prices for the 1/55 Elintseeker and Super Ostrich were low for the past couple of years because people expected Yamato to do 1/48 versions of them both. But I think now they're beginning to realize that Yamato won't do it, so these two 1/55's are on back on the upswing again.

Anybody know what this is? Gunbuster meets Evangelion? -
Wow! I expected to be proven right on the PS3 price drop, but not on the same day as my last post! http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/playstation...y-15-275391.php Yeah, it's Kotaku, but it's hard evidence that Circuit City will be dropping the price by $100 (for a week?).
-
A price drop is definitely going to happen soon. I just hope Sony doesn't drop the hardware emulation in favor of software emulation in order to cut costs. To me, that will be a deal-breaker. The hardware emulation on the PS2 was great, but it still wasn't 100%. I wholly expect much lower compatibility with software emulation on the PS3.

The Xbox 360 Thread Elite Edition

I have to commend Microsoft for admitting that their systems are faulty and that they're not "getting the job done." I always expected them to extend the system warranty even further, but a public admission of guilt is not easy for any company to go through, no mattter how much evidence exists. Kudos to Microsoft With the free shipping and 3 year warranty there's no reason to stop me from buying a 360. Halo 3, here I come! -

Macross Plus Remaster Box /Macross 7 TV/OVA

I can't comment on Akira and Tokyo Godfathers, but wasn't Macross Plus "International Version" released as an educational tool to help teach English in Japan? Hence the reason it had Japanese subtitles, but no English subs. The same thing happened with Super Space Fortress Macross. I suppose there's a very slim chance BD \ HD Macross releases could include subs, but Japan doesn't need to do us any favors. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that Japanese companies stand to make a more lucrative profit by selling a license to an American company verses selling a couple hundred extra copies of their own DVDs that include English subs. -
Very nic pics, Swoosh! And thanks for the mini-review. It's great to see that Yamato fixed the landing gears and gunpod, but I'm still a little worried about the neck hinge.
-
You're comparing fashion customers to toy customers?
-
Ok, rather than waste time arguing semantics, let me rephrase what I was saying: The Japanese are more willing to put up with breaks, QC issues, imperfections, design flaws, et al than we Americans. I'm not saying they're better than we are, or are foolish for not being as vocal as us, all I'm saying is that I believe it's a cultural thing.
-
I'm going to go with this option. No offense to my fellow Americans, but we don't have any problem calling out Yamato when a problem arises. OTOH, it seems the Japanese will put up with imperfections rather than rock the boat. I believe it's a cultural thing.
-
Possibly, maybe. What exactly do plan to do with the images?

Soon we won't have to worry about Konami releasing Policenauts in English David Hingtgen, if you're serious about buying an blue import DS Lites I'll check my store and see if we have any more in stock. I don't believe imports are sealed so I can check for dead pixels right away. I know we used to sell the baby blue DS Lites, but I doubt we had Navy blue. They were also around $149 - $159 each.
-
That's right, the stock canards are POM and the extra set is ABS. Good thinking!
-
When the 1/60 VF-1 was released, a lot of us asked why more of the toy wasn't made out of POM. Graham said that (excluding cost) it's difficult to cast complex parts out of POM. Simple square pegs, like the 1/60 VF-1 leg connector, are good candidates for POM. But that VF-0 shoulder looks much more elaborate than a square peg. Perhaps the new shoulders were cast from POM, but due to the complex shape of the shoulder and the hand assembly involved, the POM's effectiveness is reduced thus leading to stress marks and possible breakages. Either way, it would still be nice to know for sure if the shoulders are made of POM. Mowe, when I get home I'll break out my 1/60 VF-1 and see if there's any textual differences between POM and ABS.
-
Mowe, can you confirm if the shoulders on your 0A are made of POM? If they are POM, then we've seen the limitations of POM.

Got a weight scale? If the heatsink is significantly larger, then the refurb should be heavier than the stock version. -
You're absolutely right about the Q-Rau's being expensive. But if Yamato were to release a 1/60 Regult you know they would jack up the price beyond reasonable levels. The QF-Ghost is small and features no moving parts aside from the landing gears, yet it sells for $40+. The Regult is much more complex with it's rotating guns, legs, opening hatch, and is much larger than the Ghost. I'd estimate a 1/60 Regult at $80 minimum. Then Yamato would scratch their heads and wonder why no one is building an army of Regults edit: At 1/60 scale a Regult would be about as tall as the 1/48 in battroid mode. True, most of it would just be the legs, but you know Yamato.
