  1. Bandai Head: No Plans for 2009 Gundam TV Series: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-...undam-tv-series
  2. Saw it yesterday It's "Watchmen for Dummies" Not really bad, but not good either: just somewhere in the middle...
  3. Makoto Shinkai is far better on short stories than on longer movies, but all of his production is worth the watch, at least for the gorgeous art. Don't miss his earlier works if you want to see originality As for Voices..., it's one of my favorites animes, hands down. Although the common points are obvious, I don't think it should be compared with Gunbuster: this one is more a tribute to 70s super robot shows than a pure "tragedy of love" story; also, the respective lengths of both of these animes make them hardly comparable IMO
  4. Except he has no cyborg parts: now, that's athletic
  5. The manga by the author of Silent Möbius is not bad at all, and far better than the movie
  6. From official words, it is not a remake: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-...ger-z-or-remake
  7. This one's great too: definitely one of the most noir anime I've ever seen...
  8. I assume these are the ILA fansubs? If yes, then I have no problem to dispaly theirs subs in using the CCCP
  9. Same thing here... It's the typical fan service show made with low budget and which works mainly on nostalgia value: I didn't lose my time though...
  10. Le Chevalier d'Eon is really good but somewhat "weird" at times : nothing to do with the unusual "gender bender" theme (which is actually original and interesting in this show) but during a while the plot seems to go nowhere. Of course, I assume you like historical stuff and on this point, it is both faithful and surprising (especially at the end...) as well as very informative. Visually, it's gorgeous. To sum it up, I'd say, yes, it is really worth the watch As for the Gunbuster movie, avoid it at all cost, especially if you already own the original OVA
  11. Some of you know that I did some mapping for the Unreal video games series a while back; some of these works got awards by professionnals of this industry, such as CliffyB Ownages, and a pair of them made their way through the finalists of the international competition of the Make Something Unreal Contest back in 2004 A few years back, I wrote a tutorial about lighting for Unreal Tournament 2004 and it has now been translated in english by a person whose english is the native language. Although my description of this tutorial may sound very specific, its first part presents fundamental theories about the lighting in general but also the necessity of contrasts and how to use complementary colors in order to get these, as well as some other tips: these informations are usefull for any wannabe artists, whatever software they use, 2D or 3D but also web or print. The rest of the tutorial presents in depth study of official maps in order to explain the "how and why" their lighting was done this way instead of another, and this reading can also be informative to some extent I know there's plenty of artists here, so I thought it may interest some of them This tutorial is hosted on Unreal.fr, right here: http://www.unreal.fr/tutoriaux.php?tutorial=49 Bonne lecture
  12. Frank Miller didn't direct any of these actually (IIRC) But whatever, the main problem here concerns the comparison between Yune and Miller IMO: the latter is greatly talented, whereas the former is simply competent...
  13. Yeah, sometimes they overdo it...
  14. He he, it's actually my first one since something like 25 years: I really liked Candy Candy or Magical Princess Gigi when I was a kid Maybe I'll give a try to this one: thanks for the recommendation I really love Overman King Gainer, and yes, the mecha designs are among the most bizarre I've ever seen but in a strangely good way: actually, the King Gainer is one of the first action figures I bought a pair of years ago or so; my girlfirend likes it too: she thinks it looks funny with its green circle in the back. As for the show itself, it is really good, yes, one of my favorites in fact, but I don't think it is supposed to be taken seriously... Bri -> Because you like Eureka Seven, don't miss the manga by Kondou and Kataoka: it differs considerably from the anime, particularly the ending, and in a very succesful way I thought
  15. About one third into Princess Tutu and I love it: don't laught because this hotchpotch of european traditionnal myths and legends is simply fantastic. I like how the various archetypes and themes of the fairy tales classics are mixed and sometimes switch their role – I mean, on the symbolism side: for example, when Tutu hurts Mytho in trying to give back his heart to him, or the desperate attempts of Fakir to "protect" his friend from her; it's difficult to say where stand good and evil, contrarily to the Walt Disney's versions which are the most often considerably simplified in comparison to the original stories I love the part that animals play in this show: it's a fundamental element of all fairy tales and they are here very well used, both in the serious way and in the funny one (on this point, the dance teacher is simply great). The main heroine is one of them too, which doesn't ruin anything because the testimonial to The Ugly Little Duck (don't know if it's the correct title in english) is obvious. There's also some nice thoughts on the role of the writer, especially when the story escapes his hands and he becomes its puppet... Music is great too, with these classic tracks from old operas which illustrate magnificently every instant of this old fashioned tragedy: this show presents numerous common points with Macross on the subject of the role of music in making hearts closer the ones from the others, hence the role of classic dance in this story which give a (very) false appearance of a magical girl series to it Frankly, you'll not lose yout ime in giving a try to it: it's charming in many ways, and not the simplest ones. I'm sure the little kid who still inhabits your heart will love it
  16. Gui

    Epic SMS logo

Go for CorelDraw instead of anything else, particularly if you're not a professionnal: this soft owns everything related to vector art, and especially Illustrator which is actually the sucker...
  17. Indeed, you didn't say there's no "Mech oriented" legos, but you did say that people who make legos don't rely on "Mech oriented" parts, which is often untrue It was a simple observation: no offense intended
  18. A lot of people use Bionicles parts for their Legos, which can be considered as "Mech-oriented"
  19. Well, that may be the only Gunparade thing I'll like then And I didn't know it was from a videogame: what's its title?
  20. I read it again a few years ago, and I understood the same thing I had read 10 years before: it was some sort of neural link; I don't remember anything about goggles and keyboard, at least while surfing into the cyberpsace
  21. Already told, yes, but in a bastardized way which didn't have a lot to do with the original idea, at least concerning First; and that is not kind of sad, it is sad all short: I already explained my point of view in the Gundam Show Thread and I don't feel like explaining it once again, but it's in the very last post of the topic if you're interested in For Bandai at least, the advantage would be pretty obvious: such remake would probably bring more interest for the original franchise, which in turn would help to sell the rest of it in the various areas of the world which still have to get their own UC releases (like in my country for example...) Concerning Sentinel, it'll be more appealing once animated, for obvious reasons, expecially if you don't feel like reading poor/amateur english translations
  22. The 'thinking cap' device is actually far older than this in SF: you can find some in many short stories published in the pulp magazines from the 40s...
  23. Funny: with this 'love triangle' sh!t between Sho, Nina and Gato, I'd have thought it was a lady who actually finished this show Yeah, bring on some Sentinel or the best remake ever of First (based on the Origin preferably, but I don't care as long as it owns...)
  24. Some of them do, sometimes, through "deconstruction" or with CAD screenshots For example, Cagerrin's Iberech: this one's pretty nice btw, although I don't like the arms: they look out of place to me...
