  1. FF8 storywise I thought was interesting up until Disc 3 where the whole plot seems to misstep and fall on its face. I didn't care for the junction system nor how magic is treated as a commodity. That said, it's still one of the most memorable games for me. Maybe it was because I was coming off the FF7 high and wanting more. Being in high school at the time also helped me want to relate to the characters more. The music once again was well done and I was just blown away by the CG scene's, especially the battle scene between Balamb and Galbadia Garden.

  2. FF7 was the first Final Fantasy I played the whole way through and beat way back in 1998. It wasn't first experience with the franchise. That honor went to FF6 which I played at my cousins and liked what I experienced. Having played most of the series, I have to echo some of Duke's thoughts. VII wasn't the best game in the series but it was incredibly influential. I've played it numerous times and still enjoy it. While Tetsuya Nomura was on the team, he wasn't at the helm of the game. When Nomura took over after Sakaguchi left, he took the franchise more in the direction of his Kingdom Hearts series and tried to appeal it more towards anime fans (FF7: Advent Children, Crisis Core).

I agree that VII doesn't warrant the hype. I've met people who rave about it but only were exposed to it through Advent Children. (Mostly younger fans)

It's still a game that I think any RPG fan or gamer in general should atleast play, or try to play. Same with Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid and Xenogears.

FF7s soundtrack is still one of favorites.

  3. So I played a little of BF4-beta. I hope they did some work on the net-code in the final because I see lag. Or it maybe that we had other country users on the server. Some of the guns might need some balancing as they seem a little too good right now.

The customization menu seems a little too complicated now. This is a problem I see with games these days. As games get bigger with more features, you invariably get more complicated.

I was hoping they'd improve the damage for some weapons like the heavy machine gun mounted on vehicles. It felt severely underpowered in BF3 where I'm needing 3-4 shots to take someone down.

  4. I'm shocked they want to kill the A-10.

Now they are saying the AF is going to axe KC-10's, F-15C's, and CSAR Helo's as well.

The A-10 and F-15C have both been service for well over 30 years now so it's not surprising. The question is how will there numbers be replaced, especially the F-15 with the F-22 inventory capped at 187 for the near future. The A-10 is outstanding in low risk CAS missions but I'd be worried we'd be losing a fair number of these against an opponent equipped with better air defenses like the Tunguska and Igla-S, and even intermediate tech defenses such as the SA-11.

  5. Honestly, the last console I was truly excited for prelaunch was the PS2. Got the PS3 due to MGS4 and due to most of my gaming buddies going to it. I'm holding off on a PS4 for a long time. Probably going to use that time to build a PC.

  6. As long as I can fly the f-14 for free I'm set, though if I want the flower paint scheme from AC5 I'm probably going to pay extra :p. Of course you are going to have to pay for planes and color schemes, that's just the F2P model.

Basically this but for me, it'll be the Viper. Agreeing with Dave on the packaging of aircraft like the Super Hornet and YF-23.
