  1. WCII is set in the year 2656. WCIII is set in 2669 13 years after. If it makes you feel any better some of the old designs appear in missions in WCIV.

Actually, WC2 takes place in 2665, ten years after the events of WC. I was never certain when WC3 and IV took place. Thanks for clarifying on that.

Also for LOMAC players. Another third-party developer is releasing the Mig-21bis. Looks pretty good.

Confirmed new aircraft for LOMAC currently are:

    P-51D

    F-15E

    F-14D

    F-22

    Mig-21bis

  2. One thing that got to me with the craft in the WC games was what happened to the Rapier's, Epee's and Sabre's in WC3 and 4? They pretty much all disappeared and we got the Hellcat but the time between WC2 and 3 was only 3-4 years I think. Not sure if it was Origin just wanting some new fresh fighters or they didn't want to render the more complex designs from the older games. I missed not having the F-57 Sabre in WC3. Thing was a beast.

  3. Oh shoot, they have WC4? I heard it wasn't as good as 3, so never really chased it down, but given how craptastic the combat/space sim market has been (I honestly don't even remember how long it was since we got a good space combat sim), I find myself looking back through my collection for fun stuff to try.

I've still got my original WC 1-3, on the original disks (diskettes for WC 1), and make a habit of playing through them every once in a while with DOSBox. Works beautifully. :)

Kinda wanted to give Prophecy a try too, but never managed to get a copy. The ship designs in that were some of my favorites from the entire series.

They also have WC: Privateer which is one I never played before. I used to play WC1 at my cousins place since he had the diskettes and everything.

  4. I'm still loling over Marauder Shields and the three Huskateers as the final fight. That said, I still think the Indoctrination Theory has some validity to it as parts of the extended ending did leave the door open to that possibility still.

  5. If these endings were part of their original intent then my faith really hasn't been restored. Still plenty of plot loopholes that went unanswered though I'm sure Bioware will be happy to answer them at a premium in whatever future DLC or even full game they come up with next.

  6. I've seen other debates like this but thought it would be interesting to have one discussed here. The F-5E Tiger II against the MiG-21bis. Which was the better overall aircraft? Both came out around the same time and both the F-5 and Mig-21 have been reported to have similar performance numbers.

    F-5E:

-Good performance at lower altitude and subsonic speeds.

    -Better avionics.

    -More wing surface area.

    MiG-21bis

    -More powerful.

    -Sharp roll rate.

-Good performance at higher speed, higher altitude.

  7. I think the writers would have done better with 24 episodes to work with on the first season than just 12. There are a number things that could have been explored more deeply. The Equalist movement being a big one. I hope that doesn't just disappear into the night in the 2nd season.

  8. I was excited and alittle concerned when I first heard about Avatar getting a sequel set 70 some years in the future. Wondered if it stand up with what happened in the 3rd season of Avatar and the good writing that was done then. This series so far has exceeded my expectations and then some. Pretty much in agreement with the above opinions about the finale. Eagerly looking forward to two arises in season 2. I hope we get to see some of the other Avatar cast like Zuko and perhaps Toph.(Hasn't been confirmed that she has died yet, atleast from what I've seen.)

  9. On General Iroh.

Zuko's grandson looks to be in his mid to late 20s. Awfully young to be pulling the rank of General already. (I know it's fiction but that has always bugged me.)

Also on other character ages. I think it's been confirmed.

    Tenzin = 51.

    Pema = 35.

  10. So apparently the next full DCS plane simulated is going to be the F-15E Strike Eagle, and DCS World will have both the F-14D and F-22A as flyable craft in the future.

To be honest, I was hoping for the F/A-18E. Granted there hasn't been a dedicated Strike Eagle sim in a long time and flying the F-14D will be a nice perk aswell. I'm surprised the only flyable craft are US when LOMAC had a more balanced approach. It would have been interesting if the Su-34 would be included as flyable since it's roughly the Strike Eagles Eastern counterpart.

  11. This ad still doesn't get old, even after 12 years. B))

I loved Syphon Filter 1-3. Then the series went South with Omega Strain and the PSP sequels. Logan's Shadow was alright but left a serious cliffhanger of an ending. There have been rumors of a PS3 Syphon Filter for some time now. It seems the chances of a Syphon Filter 4 being announced soon could actually come to pass. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  12. I was bit by the Final Fantasy bug around the time Xenogears was on the shelves so much of my gaming interest was focused in FF7 and rumors of FF8 at the time. A friend of mine offered to let me borrow it during class once but I never got around to taking him up on it. I finally played and beat the game recently but I honestly wish I had played it back then. Many of the used hard copies I've seen go pretty high in the price range.

  13. I can't tell a MiG-17 from a -19 either.

Anyways---I'd say this guy does overall the best LEGO jets out there---any photo in his Flickr account is worth looking at, here's a good starting point:

    And here's his BIG B-1B:

    Nice shots.

I never had too much trouble telling the difference between the 17 and 19. Telling the difference between a Mig-19 and a Fitter has been agitating.

  14. YF-29 = YF-19 on crack. To me atleast. It's not bad but as pointed out, there is just too much on it. The additional engines on the wings kinda kill it for me.

Not a fan of the 25 either but I do prefer its more contemporary design.

  15. Awesome collection Shaorin.

The oldest console I have is an original Playstation. All of my older consoles (NES, Genesis, first PSX) ended up disappearing in a garage sale or broke. My parents sold my Genesis and most of the games without me even knowing about. :( Still have the Genesis Jurassic Park game and NHL '94.

Was also really into older PC titles. Played Microsoft FS 5.0, Microprose F-117A Nighthawk 2.0, X-Com: UFO Defense which was hard as hell for me as a kid. It still is.

    The list goes on.
