  1. I wished that they'd done another OVA, as well, but after reading the comic, I understand why they didn't. Basically, they cut out all the plot that was happening in Asran. In the comic, by the time Shin goes back, a lot has been happening and everything is set up for the finale. But in the OVA series, with all that set up gone, there was simply no way for the film-makers to adapt the final storyline.

I know the US manga release stopped prematurely. I've tried looking for translated scans of the rest of the manga series been unsuccessful so far. Some of the stuff I hear happening towards the end while pretty out there (drone F/A-18s and a land carrier) have peaked my interest in progressing with the series.

  2. Finished watching both the OVA and TV series of Area 88. Have to say I wish they'd do another OVA. The TV series was good, I liked the music but there was something about the animation I just didn't like as opposed to the original. I actually liked the fact that you'd see aircraft falling apart and not just disappearing in a ball of smoke. Just that extra eye for detail. I especially liked the detail they put into drawing aircraft like the A-4s and Kfir C2s.

  3. I went right into ME2 and never played ME1 though really should at some point. Played through it twice with the second playthrough on Insanity just to get the Gold trophy. The extended ending sounds like Bioware applying a bandaid to a severed arm. The hardcore fans have pretty much already made up their minds from what I've read.

  4. Was looking forward to this title for quite sometime but the backlash after its release forced me to hold off. Poor ending aside, how does the game stack up to the previous two titles? I'll probably still wait till the game goes on sale or drops in price before finally picking it up.

  5. I'm still surprised by the weight gain between the YF-22 and the F-22A. I have to wonder how much more a production F-23A would have weighed by comparison. Also, I know they said it was agile, not as much as the Lightning II but it sounded like the YF-23 could easily out turn an F-15 by the way they were describing it in the video.

  6. I thoroughly enjoyed The Last Airbender and was definitely not going to miss this. The animation has certainly improved and the acting hasn't degraded one bit. It's funny cause I read this show was meant for ages 2-11. I'd say that got blown right out of the water since I know people in their late 30s that enjoyed Korra. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

  7. The design was well ahead of its time and it's a shame that politics, like with the Tigershark, was what killed this plane. I think that the YF-23 was a more practical design for today's world than the YF-22. It was faster, stealthier and judging by the design, could carry a greater payload of weapons, or atleast more conveniently hold them. Separate compartments had to be made to accommodate Sidewinders for the YF-22. Thrust vectoring is nice but I don't see it being practical given the current aerial combat tactics used now. It seems like more roles could have been filled with the YF-23s design. As someone pointed out, they were even looking towards it to potentially fulfill a bomber role. A stealth replacement for the F-15E possibly?

  8. Should have done it in the 90's, with a Super Tomcat. VERY easy to explain to the audience Tim Taylor style---"it's Maverick's old plane, but with 40% MORE POWER"

Got to agree with this. The F-14D or even the B would have been great to see and preferable to anything in current use. Rent some Mirage F1s as the adversary aircraft, if that was even possible, and you might have had something back then worthy being a sequel.

  9. http://www.flightglo...numbers-368889/

Sounds like the beginning... or is it the middle of the process to start reducing the number of F-35. Lockheed seem to be really doing a poor job in the last two decades managing costs of their fighters. Does anyone know if the original F-15 or F-16 development was like this?

I know that F-15 numbers actually expanded from the 729 originally required to more than 1,000

That's what happens when they try to get a single aircraft to do everything imho, and not to get too political, the government can't get its fiscal policies in order.

I still think the F-22 would make a decent multirole aircraft or even as a strike aircraft like the F-15E if properly converted.

  10. On the THIRD hand... why the crap have you NOT played Trigger yet? It's one of the best JRPGs around, and an audivisual masterpiece on top of it(one of the few games I've just stopped playing to listen to the music for a while).

Wasn't an SNES kid back in the day. :p Also, I've wanted to play it but always got caught up with some other title.

And when you're through with both of them, go play Xenogears, if only so you can say hi to Lucca in the tutorial area in the first town. Lucca is the best, and her absence in the REST of Xenogears is even worse than the travesty of a slideshow known as disk 2.

Actually, I just beat that finally. Been on abit of a JRPG binge as of late.

  11. Doing a playthrough of Chrono Cross but have to ask. Would it be better to play through Chrono Trigger first? I've not played Trigger yet and I'm concerned I might miss certain plot elements, if there linked.

I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 3 but still have reservations about picking it up right off the bat. May just wait it out hear the verdict or when some kind of sale comes up on Amazon.

  12. Finally got the Metal Gear solid HD Collection on the PS3.

Playing Peace Walker now. Yes, the graphics are very much PSP, but it's simple RPG gameplay is so addictive, and massive in options. Love it.

I'm still abit baffled as to why they never included the original MGS in the HD Collection, unless it was a space issue but I can't see that being the case with it being blu-ray. It would have just been nice to have seen a more complete collection.

  13. Finished Uncharted 3. Very disappointed. For me the second game is still the ultimate in action platform.

Here's a brief summary of my view.

A lot of running stages. Yip, just running.

More than usual areas where you get in, and then just make your way out.

Around 10 hours it took to me to finish the game.

The finale is pretty much the same as the previous game, underground city that then collapses but minus a final boss.

    Quite a few glitches.

The puzzles were way too easy, and the scale of their areas were pointlessly unused.

The stranded desert chapter dragged a bit too long. Walk a little bit here, cut scene of the sky, walk some more, another cutscene, and etc...

Not much reply value in single player mode as the game is pretty flat linear.

The horses running as fast as the trucks was a bit too much.

A lot of the story wasn't explained. Like the instant aging in the mansion. How the one villian was shot, but then surprised everyone as he shortly returned.

Backgrounds to Alena and Drake's seperation wasn't explained. Nor anything regarding the new member in the team, Carter.

Sullivan through out the game acts like he can't jump and run fast, but at the end out sprints and out jumps Drake.

Exploration of the levels is very limited unlike the previous two games where the treasures were truly well hidden. Everything in this third game lies on your linear path.

No real big fighting level unlike the previous game where you go against a helicopter and a tank.

The big shooting areas could be finished from a few spots. Didn't really require you to move about to finish the stage.

The flat textures of the town's people stood out, as the playable characters were hyper realistic.

    The shop is gone.

The sneaking stages really have one path to follow unlike the previous game.

    Good things.

Some of the cinematics were again beyond Hollywood's capabilities.

The backgrounds were just brilliant, especially in the amount of detail.

Light reflects off the individual stubble of Drake.

The treasures are no longer tiny glowing lights, but actual in game objects.

Not much else. The game feels rushed to probably supply the demand of on-line play.

Oh yeah, I don't play multi player, so I can judge that feature.

I'll still play the next one, though I'm glad I first read reviews and then borrowed a friend's copy to test it, but then ended up quickly finishing it.

This game just doesn't have that wow and mind blowing craftness of Uncharted 1 and 2.

Considering how high the bar was set in Uncharted 2, I'm not expecting much of an improvement out of Uncharted 3. I'm still debating about buying it. I just want a game with a compelling storyline, something I'll enjoy. Much of which I have read you get in UC3.

Also, I beat Xenogears for the first time yesterday. I have to say, I wish I had played this game back when it first came out. It's definitely

worth all the praise it received. I'm glad I had read about the development issues with Disc 2 cause much of what happened at that point in the game left me for a loop. It's a shame this game wasn't delivered in its entirety. Also, that we'll never see anything like it again out of Square Enix.

  14. I agree. Drones are the way to go. If anything, they've proven to be exceedingly effective against terrorists [at least that's what Discovery Channel and certain news articles say ^_^ ], which are basically the US's number one enemy right now. Fighter jets, while cool and awesome, really are more of a deterrent these days than anything else.

IMO, most governments aren't too keen on fighting open wars anymore [at least not against the US], and most weapons are made/bought for the sole purpose of deterrence.

    Just my personal opinion, though.

Unfortunately with the higher dependencies on drones to do missions will come a higher risk of being countered with newer electronic countermeasures and even espionage. While fighters may be seen a deterrent in the near future, there is really no telling what kind of conflict we may be forced into and I don't think talking about (by politicians) and preparing for fighting only low intensity conflicts in the future is a smart move. Even if we reach a point where drones can do most of the air operations, an enemy force may be advanced enough that any or most drones are rendered ineffective in a combat area and we have to resort to using human piloted aircraft.
