  1. Did some research on the new AMD chips coming next month and decided to hold off on the CPU and mobo till reviews come out and to see how Intel reacts at the very least with current pricing. Is DDR4 memory compatible with AMD motherboards?
  2. Gaming? Yes but also running virtual environment tools such as VMWare for my security analysis work.
  3. Thanks for the info. I check out the H7. I meant the i5 7600K Kaby Lake. The i7s are too out my budget and gross overkill for what I'm looking for.
  4. Thanks. I'm definitely trying to keep it under $1000 and in the $900 area. Anything less without sacrificing performance would just be more icing. Time wise, I decided that it was time for a new build since it would function as a work/personal PC. My current laptop is 6 years old so endurance is becoming a concern with how much I'm using it. Yeah, the SSDs on newegg as part of that deal were sold out. I nabbed a PNY 240GB solid state though for a good price.
  5. Yeah, not waiting till then. I'm probably going to go with a smaller capacity 240 - 256GB SSD (for OS and favorite games) with a 1TB HDD for extra storage. If I can get a 1TB SSD around black friday later in the year, I will. Other components I'm looking at: Intel i5 6600K and also weighing the 7600K MSI Z170A 3X Krait Gaming Mobo 16GB Ripjaws DDR4 XFX Radeon GTR RX 480 Corsair CX550M 550W PSU Cryorig C7 Heatsink
  6. Starting my first PC build in years. Shopping around for a main storage drive and learning the hard way that finding a 500GB SSD under $100 is almost futile.
  7. Watched the Monte Carlo rally with the new regulations cars and I have to say, I like what I saw and heard. The cars are definitely faster, especially on corners. Loving the new sound too.
  8. My dad was pretty much the opposite. When he completed flight training, the F-111 was his top preference. He didn't get it but it was an aircraft he long admired. I agree with you that the USAF is lacking a good medium bomber. The Mud Hen doesn't quite have the payload capacity and the B-1 is too large. There may have been potential with the FB-22 and FB-23 if either of those had become reality.
  9. True. I miss the Vark. It was a unique mission aircraft with a troublesome early life. By the time the F-111F and G came around though, it was a formidable bunker buster.
  10. Meh, Su-24 could never match the curves of the F-111.
  11. While I doubt it would do it in operation even with the latest GE F110 -129 engine, I believe NASA also got the XL to supercruise. Like the YF-23, I think it's one of those aircraft that should have gotten another look for filling certain gaps. I thought the Su-35 (early Super Flanker) directly inspired the VF-11 design.
  12. I love the squadron paint jobs on the earlier F-14As. Lack of space on the F-16 probably explains the somewhat Frankenstein method for adding additional capabilities. I wonder how much more gracefully the F-16XL would have adapted to modifications to keep it up-to-date given its larger size.
  13. Would imagine the F-35 is there to replace their aging F-16 fleet, particularly the F-16A and Bs still in service. The F-15s will stick around for awhile I imagine. A very interesting missile loadout on the F-16
  14. I remember the manual for USNF Gold back in the day literally calling it the Su-34 Platypus. Also, oops.
  15. All that Syrian sun doing a number on the black paint. Granted, I rather preferred the traditional blue camo pattern of the Flanker family over the solid dark gray.
  16. Another USMC F/A-18C lost along with the pilot. The Canadians are also having issues with wear and tear on their Hornets too. http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/6407/pilot-killed-in-yet-another-marine-f-a-18-hornet-crash I'm slightly curious as to why the F-16C isn't having as many complications as it's been in service a few years more than Hornet.
  17. I'm not surprised by some of the reviews on the Last Guardian. The game is gorgeous but suffers from dodgy mechanics and AI issues. Figured a game with this many development problems would have these. So mechanically, you have to look at as if it were released back in 2009/2010. Still fully intend to pick it up as I loved SoTC and Ico but I'm debating on waiting till it goes down alittle in price and picking up FFXV for the holiday season instead. Played FFVI awhile ago (the FF Anthology version). Thinking about playing the GBA version of VI sometime in the near future. VI is still my favorite as far as story is concerned. I didn't feel the wheels on the Final Fantasy van start to come off until FFX. Maybe that's because Square redeemed themselves in my eyes alittle with IX after the disjointed story in VIII.
  18. Same developers also working on a high fidelity F-14A and B. With the F-5E already available, I know folks in the community are gearing up for Tomcat vs. Mig-28 simulated fights.
  19. I've long neglected FFIV and I've only just recently started playing it for the first time (the original SNES version).
  20. How does the musical score stand up with previous games, especially those from when Uematsu was at the helm?
  21. With The Last Guardian just around the corner, I'll be holding off XV till the price drops or I just rent it. As said above, I've disappointed with the direction Square has taken the series since XII but I've wanted to give XV a chance to win me over. Also, I've been waiting for higher speed strike aircraft in DCS and it's finally coming.
  22. Any more weight and they probably run the high risk of plunging into the drink.
  23. Russia's Admiral Kuznetsov seeing action for the first time. I had thought the navalized Flanker was phased out of service for the Mig-29K already. Guess not.
  24. That sucks. I kinda like the J-10 design as it reminds me alot of the X-31.
