  1. I have the Pelican "Brick," its pretty reliable. Its supposed to be able to complete 2 full charges on the PSP, but thats only when you're not playing while you charge. One charge is supposed to take 2 hours, but I usually plug mine in and leave the house...so by the time I get back, the brick is completely empty. Its pretty useful for extra power; I used it while I was on the plane to Japan and in the airports. For what it does, its pretty good and compact. I would recommend it. As for my collection: console: PSP Games: Wipeout Pure (gotta have the web browser) Ape Escape Ridge Racers NBA Street Showdown NBA MLB DarkStalkers Bleach (import - you can see my impressions in my past post) Movies: Just Spiderman 2 (going to wait for my 1gb stick from Dell) Accessories: Logitech Playgear case Gamestop (Pelican rebraned) carry all case (great travel pack) Aero hard foam case Some case I bought while I was in japan (I think I've tried almost all the cases, haha) Pelican Power Brick Sony USB cable (from my sony digital camera) Hori Screen protector Brando Screen protectors Pelican Screen Protector (I tried all the protectors, Brando's the best b/c it convers most of the face of the PSP, and Hori would be second) BTW, mikeszekely, how well do PSP games trade in at EB/Gamestop? I'm thinking of getting rid of NBA and Ape Escape... $15-$25. But the thing is, Gamestop is running a promotion right now... trade in one game, get an extra 10%, two get 20%, 3 30%, and 4 or more get 40% extra. The thing is, it applies to everything except consoles... so if you trade in NBA and Ape Escape, trade in two more games or DVDs you have lying around just to get the extra 40%.
  2. Ouch. You shold've cut his hand off. Who says I didn't? Same friend who bought the Force FX Master Replica Anakin saber showed me today that he actually home made one with some metal and rubber pipes and a chopped up windshield wiper. It was actually pretty impressive. Can you get a picture of it? Well, I'll ask him, but my wife went back to China to visit her parents, so I won't have my digital camera again until the end of the month.

  4. I had a Hasbro Vader one, but I broke it fighting with my friend in the park. He had the Luke one... I don't know about the $300 ones, but the $100 Master Replicas are pretty nice. A friend of mine from work picked up the Anakin one.
  5. I think this one's been confirmed. In fact, I think I read that they were going to put a rubber suit on him, because no one is really as big as Juggernaut.
  6. Is he going to do an ED-209? Will somebody please do an ED-209?!
  7. I got the Logitech case and it makes my psp even more sexier and Rengoku yesterday at Fry's in Fremont, Ca (They also sell import psp games too there mostly variations of Mah-Jong and Namco Museum). Rengoku:TOP It's a meh game; repetetive game play, monotonous thumb pushing and bad camera angles. It would have been better if the Analog nub was the default control the Digital pad sucks it hurts my thumb and the analog control camera is usless. Once I get through this snorefest I'm selling it and buying Untold Legends. BTW: What's in your PSP collection? Here's what I have: Games -Ridge Racer (All Prizes, Cars and Hard Mode) -Lumines (My score so far 311,430) -Rengoku: Tower Of Purgatory Movies -Spidey 2 -House Of Flying Daggers Accessories -Logitech Hardcase (also doubles as a stand to watch movies) -Pelican UMD protectors and Hardface Cover As of right now? Games: Lumines Need for Speed Underground: Rivals Ridge Racer Wipeout Pure MLB Tiger Woods PGA Tour Untold Legends Darkstalkers Chronicle Movies: Spider-Man 2 Accessories The Pelican car charger. PSP games trade in good, and there's a trade-in deal going on at work, so I might trade in Lumines and MLB. I'd love to pick up something new for it, but there's not a heck of a lot that's interesting me for it right now. I think the next game I'm really interested in is Death Jr. Maybe I should check out the import scene?
  8. Damn, animesuki must be really behind. In addition to not telling me Nanashi is doing Eureka 7, they didn't tell me anyone was doing Aquarion either.
  9. Sorry... I'd been watching the main page at animesuki, and they didn't have any links or mention of it. Until someone mentioned in this thread that Nanashi was fansubbing it, I'd just assumed people were watching the raws. Going to download now...
  10. I'm with A1... I'm not going to waste $40 on this, but if they make an ED-209, especially if it growls, talks, and squeels when it falls down, I'm in.
  11. Oh, in a move that suprised... well, no one, I guess, Bill Gates confirmed that the Xbox 360 will definately launch this year. Related Gamespot story
  12. I love Dragon Quest, btw. I love Akira Toruyama's character designs, don't get me wrong. The whole set up just screams Dragon Quest, and thats my point. I love Dragon Quest, but I was expecting that, after so much noise about Mistwalkers, they would come out with something different, not just more of the same. And as far as I'm concerned, MS isn't going to gain space in the Japanese market by releasing crap that has been released in the PS2 and everyone knows is good already. 1 Dragon Quest clone isn't going to save MS in japan. Unless they secure some real brand names, no matter how generic we think they are (think Final Fantasy), Mistwalker isn't the key to japan. Well, I agree that Blue Dragon alone won't be enough. But it's a step in the right direction. And in Japan, if you're going to copy anything (not necessarily saying that you should), you might as well copy one of the most popular series of all time in Japan. Haven't met enough Japanese to know if they're as jaded over clones as we are here in the States, but I do know that Blue Dragon is going to get a major marketing blitz, with ads already running in some magazines.
  13. I suppose you don't want to know that Akira Toriyama is doing the character designs for Blue Dragon? To my way of thinking, yeah, Blue Dragon does seem to be your run of the mill Japanese RPG. And for those of us with multiple consoles, we might be thinking "So what?" But Japanese style RPGs are a genre that the current Xbox has been sorely lacking. That lack has left the Xbox with next to no share of the console market in Japan. Now, run of the mill or not, Blue Dragon has some big names attached to it, and it's likely to generate a buzz in Japan. Microsoft has managed to come in second worldwide, but if they really want to get anywhere, they need to make gains in Japan, and Blue Dragon is a major step in that direction.
  14. Yeah, but something tells me he doesn't have that to prove...
  15. Well, as far as space adventures go, I like both Star Wars and the various incarnations of Star Trek, although neither to the level that a lot of their respective fans seem to. I also kinda liked Lost in Space when I was a kid. But I didn't care for Babylon 5 and I really didn't like Andromeda. I've basically ignored any and all others, partly because B5 and Andromeda left me lacking in interest, and partly because I don't watch much TV and don't feel like springing for more than the most basic of cable services. Space has always fascinated me, though. Some of the first books I can remember reading were children's books on astronomy. The idea of a truly good space adventure show is most intriguing to me... so I'll ask again. What is it that makes Firefly special? Why does it stand out?
  16. *MILD SPOILERS* I never read the books, so to me... I don't know. I enjoyed the irreverant way it tells the audience that all of our preconcieved notions about pretty much everything could be wrong. But that's about it. The pacing in the movie was horrible... there's almost no character development, but they have time to set up a subplot about looking for a gun... a subplot they never follow through on, since they never delivered said gun and retrieved Zaphod's other head/brain. *END OF SPOILERS* All-in-all, the movie leaves me with the impression that the books are probably a very enjoyable read (next time I swing buy the bookstore, maybe I'll pick up one of those thick collected works dealies), but on its own the movie fails to deliver.
  17. Okay, years ago, when Firefly was on TV, there was a lot of buzz going on, but I remember seeing comercials for it and thinking "eh." And I still remember hearing hype for ages after, even (or maybe especially) after it was cancelled. Now I've seen the trailer for Serenity, and I'll admit... it looks like it might be an okay movie. But one thing I still don't get, after hearing hype, seeing trailers, and reading the summaries of the show, I still don't get one thing: what was it about Firefly that set it apart from every other sci-fi show about the crew of a space ship? If I haven't cared about most of those, why would I like Firefly? For people more familiar with the show who have also seen the trailer, do you guys think it'll be necessary to watch the show first? Or is it okay to just watch Serenity? Despite the hype, I don't feel like springing for the Firefly DVD set if I'm not even sure I'll like it.
  18. I'm going to say that it's probably good. Batman has always been one of the most story-driven comic books in the industry, and in recent years DC has been hellbent on getting some of the best writers in the industry to do Batman. And as for Lee, when one of his projects was less than good, it wasn't usually because his art was bad, it was usually because they paired him with a lousy writer. OT... what ever happened to Jim Lee's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
  19. I don't disagree with that at all. My gripe with Jim Lee was the way he just sort of abandoned it all and sold out to DC. I loved the first 17 or so issues of WildC.A.T.S, and Backlash was one of my all-time favorite series. But WildC.A.T.S sort of spiralled downhill after Lee left the book to work on other projects (say what you will about Alam Moore's other works, his stint on WildC.A.T.S was horrendous) so I never followed it after Wildstorm went to DC, and while Stormwatch and Gen 13 went too, I never cared for them. I was dissapointed that WildCore (formerly Backlash) and Wetworks dissapeared.
  20. Campbell does great faces, but he seems to have some problems drawing females from the waste down. Hips too low, legs too long, etc. Jim Lee might not be the absolute best, but he is at least deserving of attention he's gotten. I've always been a fan of his stuff. My only real beef with him is that he was part of the exodus to found Image so that creators could own their own characters. But after launching Wildstorm and doing several issues of WildC.A.T.S, he turned WildC.A.T.s over to some infinitely less talented people who nearly ran the book into the ground between the "Wildstorm Rising" and the "Fire From Heaven" crossovers, and went back to Marvel to re-launch the Fantastic Four, before ultimately selling out Wildstorm to DC. I'd still say one of my favorites, though, was Brett Booth. I loved his work on Backlash. Anyone know what he's been up to lately?
  21. I haven't played it personally (it's the only PSP game so far that I haven't), but the reviews have been unanimously bad.
  22. The sad part is...I'm sure you actually see it that way. Whatever, this is lame. If I wanted to, I could. Apparently, videogame store clerks are considered part of the industry. However, it'd have to be on my own dollar, so I'll pass this year.
  23. You blew up on me first, buddy. I strike down ignorance wherever I see it.
  24. While it's true that the guy seems to lack any sense of proportion whatsover, he's got a knack for details. And he's certainly better than A LOT of the guys Marvel's had doing the Spider-Man books lately (Humberto Ramos, Fransico Herrera, etc). Oh, how I long for the days when Jim Lee actually drew, when Wildstorm was part of Image, and when Brett Booth did Backlash. Now there was a guy who could draw...
