  1. Nintendo likes Sunday. Both the DS and the DS Lite were released on Sundays. I think I kinda prefer the Wii in black... but I am in the process of switching to Mac, so lately I've been kinda digging white, too.
  2. I plan on getting all three Burger King games, because even if the games suck, the low prices make it worthwhile just for the cheese factor. Too bad they're not going to have acheivements, though. As for UMK3, I might buy it, I might not. Isn't Symphony of the Night also supposed to be out around November on XBLA? I'd much rather buy that, but then again, that'll probably end up delayed.
  3. I did the math a long time ago. It came out to something like a 30 second load time on a 16x DVD would be 45 seconds on a 2x Blu-Ray or a full minute on 1x. They did finally say the PS3 is 2x, right? Having more room to work isn't a bad thing. I don't think anyone would argue that. I just feel that it's been convincingly argued that it's probably not necessary for the 360/PS3/Wii generation. Sony's primary reason for using the format isn't because games need Blu-Ray, it's the other way around. Sony's banking on the PS3 to push the demand for Blu-Ray.
  4. Ah, RTSs really aren't my thing. Come to think of it, I don't think Halo is. The story was interesting enough, and I think that the Halo games are good, but not as amazingly good as everyone makes them out to be. Now, on the other hand, anything Bioware touches is gold. I swear, they could release a game with a plain white cover that says "New Bioware Game" in plain black font, and I would preorder the damn thing. So the 360 game I'm most excited for is, hands down, Mass Effect (although Lost Planet, if it turns out as good as the E3 demo, is also up there).
  5. Because the company is run by idiots, and even though I spent three weeks as acting store manager, they weren't going to actually give me the store.
  6. Last I heard, component was sold seperately, on both the $500 and the $600. I'll see if I can find some verification. It would make more sense to at least include component, though, since Sony loves to bring up what a cheap Blu-Ray player it is. Then again, they could be taking advantage of Joe Wal-Mart, who would likely hook up the PS3 to a low-end 27" SDTV and be conviced that they were watching an HD picture. Like Oblivion was rumored to be four discs on the 360? I think $500 is too much. $400 for the 360 was really too much, but it was close enough that, at least in my case, I was battying about the price even as I grabbed for my wallet. If you've got $500-$600 to burn on a game console, you're interested in a cheap Blu-Ray player, you're really into one of the actual exclusive titles to be release in the next year, or you honestly believe that even the non-exclusive games will be better on the PS3, hey, it's your money. I happen to feel differently, is all. What part of "not it the next 12 months, but maybe later when there's more games and a better price tag" strikes you as unrealistic?
  7. I'm not picking one up at launch, since I don't feel like dealing with the holiday mess of it now that I left Gamestop. Besides, there's already too many games coming out already for the PS2, 360, and DS that I have to pick up. I'm thinking I'll pick one up in March, though, when the gaming well starts to dry up again. Wii Sports looks like the perfect pack-in, too. As far as the virtual console goes, I'm not sure how much I'd take advantage of it. I'm not really into the whole microtransaction thing... so far on the 360, I've only bought Geometry Wars and Bejeweled. And most of the classic games I like have already been re-released in some form on some modern platform, and the ones that haven't, I've emulated. Not to mention that the Wii isn't supposed to have a lot of built-in storage, so I don't know how that's going to work. Maybe you pay to download it once, then if you delete it, you can redownload it? I do kinda want to get that Zapper attachment for the Wiimote and play Duck Hunt, though.
  8. Why, thank you so much for allowing me to voice my thoughts on the PS3 in a thread dedicated to voicing our thoughts on the PS3. Is there a Wii thread I missed somewhere? I want to talk about that, too. *EDIT* Nevermind, found it.
  9. Because we've always wanted a racing game where the cars and tracks were sold seperately. Well, I've been listening to scuttlebutt on both sides for way too long to care anymore. On the one side, you have people talking about how it's the most powerful gaming console in existance or that ever will exists, how it's such a deal for a Blu-Ray player, how 1080p over HDMI is such an advantage over Xbox 360 (nevermind that an update and HDMI cable for the 360 are in the works), etc. On the other hand, I'm hearing predictions that it'll take two years for PS3 games to get up to Xbox 360 level, that the TGS units had overheating issues, etc, and so on and so forth. But I think it's been said, by a number of people on both sides, that it's really about the games. And with that in mind, I have no intention of purchasing a PS3 in the next 12 months. I'm not going to kid myself. Sooner or later, something exclusive like God of War 3, Ace Combat, or something will come along, and when the price is right, surely I'll pick one up. But HD-DVD and Blu-Ray (movies) can both go to hell for all I care- I'm not paying $600 for a game console. Especially when a lot (not all) of the launch titles look like they're coming to 360 anyway. As far as exclusives go, at this point, I still think 360 has a better list, with stuff like Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Gears of War, and the like to look forward to. If my friend's brother in Kanagawa is any indication, the Japanese aren't real thrilled with the PS3 yet, either. He's thinking about getting an Xbox 360, although far and away, the DS rules there.
  10. Not exactly. If they'd have been saying from the get go that they were launching a new Transformers unrelated to any of the other other material, that would have been okay. I mean, I could still see myself enjoying the movie, just like I enjoyed Energon. My issue is that (and maybe I misread something, it could just be me) when this film was first announced, it was going to be a G1 movie. That was exciting. I was very much looking forward to seeing how they'd do my favorite G1 characteres in a live-action film on the big screen. So, it's kind of a let down to know that I'm not going to see my favorite G1 characters afterall.
  11. See, here's what's going through my mind... I'm seeing some of this stuff, like Bumblebee and Prime, and I'm starting to think, "hey, that's not half bad." I mean, after all, the Transformers were supposed to be sentient robots, who have existed for millions of years, and who come from an alien planet. These new designs certainly are less 1980's bulky robots with hunks of cars hanging off them... they have an otherworldly, organic look that works with the concept of living alien robots. Likewise, as has been mentioned, they're supposed to be robots first who can change into an alternate mode... NOT cars (etc) that happen to turn into robots (which was, IIRC, the Diaclone idea). But then I gotta stop and say... I remember when I first heard that a live-action Transformers film was in the works, I distinctly remember being given the impression that it was going to be G1, NOT Armada, Energy, RID, or any other re-imagining. Including a brand new re-imagining. I was excited then, because I was looking forward to seeing the heroes of my childhood come to life. And what do we have? A damn re-imagining. It's Transformers, but NOT the one I was hoping for. It may have Optimus Prime, he may turn into a truck, and yeah, it's freaking cool that Peter Cullen is providing the voice... but that Prime, slick as he may be, is NOT my freaking childhood hero come to life.
  12. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night coming to Xbox Live Arcade! I almost had to check the date to make sure this wasn't just some cruel April Fool's thing, but nope, it's still August. It really looks like the 360 is starting to come in on it's own, with some good new games and some kick-ass retro stuff turning up on XBLA.
  13. Naturally, I'm abstaining from voting at this point, as I really don't care which series wins the annual Gamefaqs fanboy popularity contest. I think it's kinda ridiculous that children who weren't even born when the SNES was released have elevated a series that didn't even become popular until the seventh entry to the alpha and omega of gaming, while largely ignoring series like Super Mario Bros that pretty much set the standards for 2D and 3D platforming. Besides, for me, it's all about the Megaman.
  14. Am I like the last one here to have seen the trailer? I certainly didn't see it when I saw X-3... In any case, I've already said this, but I can't stand Nicholas Cage. And, I've seen potentially good comic book movies gone horribly wrong. But, for some reason, the trailer actually has me kinda looking forward to the movie...
  15. I hadn't heard that all of TOS was removed from canon, but Star Trek V was.
  16. Or they could make a new Trek movie about someone other than Kirk, Spock, and Bones. Everyone still wins, and we can actually have live-action actors.
  17. I was worried that Bernie Mac was going to be Jazz...
  18. Um, hello? It's Hollywood. When they're not making movies, they spend their free time getting further and further out of touch with the rest of the world.
  19. The YouTube is already down.
  20. And so, no-talent hacks will be cast to play legendary characters ingrained in pop culture by the original actors, and once again childhoods will be raped.
  21. I don't know. It looks okay, but I don't have huge hopes for it. My problem is, the Turtles I grew up with were the ones from the cartoon, not the comic book. Dammit, I want Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, and a Technodrome!
  22. Cheer up, friends! It's been confirmed that Peter Cullen is indeed the the voice of Optimus Prime.
  23. Yeah, see, I'm torn, because I already have the first Guitar Hero, and if I get Guitar Hero II for PS2, I'll have to guitars. But if I go 360, I'll probably pay more because it's on 360, plus I'll need two controllers... but on the flip side, downloadable new tracks would finally be a good use for Microsoft points.
  24. who said? 417035[/snapback] According to Ain't It Cool, Michael Bay. And we can speculate on what other trucks that monstrousity might be better served as, it's still Optimus. Penny Arcade had some interesting thoughts on the subject.
