Very nice! Any comments on the build quality? How's the joints in gestalt mode? Tight? I haven't got mine yet.

In other news i impulse bought a KO fansproject City Commander trailer. Really awesome stuff. The only issue i had with it was the shoulders and hands don't stay on. But easily fixable by inserting cardboard in between them to make them tight and snug. But since the KO was based on the 1s release of City Commander, it doesn't come with the gun and shoulder missiles. :( Checked ebay and the price for the original city commander addons are exorbitantly expensive...90 bucks or something. Hope they will KO the addon or there are other 4th party alternatives.

  2. I've gotten them so far. I've been impressed with the designs, both robot and vehicle. The crane's even got all the pieces for you to thread the hook if you want too. Are they worth $80 a pop? If they weren't going to combine into a massive Devastator Hercules at the end, I wouldn't pay that much for them. It's all about the promise of a massive, kick-butt combiner. Of course, if the final product turns out to suck, the joke will be on me.

I took the plunge and ordered them. My 1s time buying a non-official toy and paying Yamato-esque prices for it. I hope the joke won't be on us both.

  3. I watched it, but I didn't think it was much to write home about. The designs look weird to me, and the weak "oh, I'm so useless, I can't do anything, boo-hoo" male does nothing for me. It wasn't bad, but... blue and pink robots??

The show has robotic jets with chastity belts....errr....stones. And you're complaining about colours? XD

  4. I seem to be in the minority web-wise, but I actually like this cast better than the original; mostly due to there not being a Sirius-type character - I absolutely could not STAND him.

    Cheyene is very sirius-like IMHO

    School idol....check

    Big brother with siscon....check

Dude with inferiority complex due to a noob being better than him....check

Possible traitor ..... highly likely imho

  5. Saw the special 1s 2 eps. Wow....nostalgic....history repeating itself even, and now with more Macross Frontier style in it.

I thought the boys' commander look and acts alot like Patrick from Gundam 00. LOL.

I love that we have the "flamboyant captain" character back (now with scar and eyepatch).

I'm thinking bad guy and amata make up Apollo. Bad dude shares the bestial nature of Apollonius whereas Amata is the kind guy. Ying and Yang. Oh kawamori you're not letting go of your new age stuff are you?

  6. Synopsis is out:

    From ANN: http://bit.ly/AmjtaS

    Synopsis:

The story is set on Okinawa's isolated island of Iwado, which has seen a growing movement advocating a return to an autonomous government. Ao Fukai, a 13-year-old boy with a missing father, lives on the island with an old doctor named Toshio and is about to enter middle school. Ao's mother was taken away a decade ago by unknown individuals. Naru Arata, Ao's 13-year-old childhood friend and the story's heroine, lives with her father, older sister, and grandmother. She has a "Yuta" power awakened within her due to an incident when she was young.

A mysterious entity called "Secret" suddenly appears and launches an attack on the Scub Coral lifeform on the island. In his fervent desire to protect the island, Ao launches a certain military FP called "Nirvash" aboard a Japanese military transport.

Not sure if this is a prequel, sequel, or alternate reality since as of the events of Eureka 7, there was no Japan or Okinawa.....or any country from the present world for that matter.

  7. Hi superhobo.

The base figure is indeed quite nice but would've preferred a better plastic. If i knew earlier about the material, i'd rather get the 2nd form which is essentially the same figure minus the red armoured parts, and 2000 yen cheaper.

The angle on how to attach the shoulder armor plates is really odd. I can't seem to get it right for the left shoulder. It seems to nudge the grey shoulder plates apart causing it be seperated from the arms. The right plate goes in easier but doesn't stay on tight. Wondering if you have a tip for this. Also the ball joint linking the shoulder plates to the arm plates seems redundant and fragile.

Another issue is trying to get the left arm plate's blade to fold in flush after you put the hand in. Can't find the right spot for it to connect.

  8. I can't find the old Broken Blade or Riobot threads.... so please move this if someone else finds it.

    I got me a Riobot Delphine , 3rd form. It costs USD95.

    Overall, disappointing.

For the price and look, i thought it might have some die cast in it. Nope. It was all plastic....and it wasn't the good kind either. Feels very brittle and everything is in ball joints. Rather than a toy, it feels like a pre-built and pre-painted resin kit. The basic frame without the armour is pretty nifty and poseable. There is some concern on the ball joints as i imagine them to loosen over time and play. The armour is a nightmare to put together. Nothing fits tightly and the attachment points aren't very obvious if not very difficult to get it on and stay on. After about 2 hours i finally got everything on but it still feels loosely attached. If i turned it upside down some parts are bound to fall off.

Some moving parts in the armour use a metal peg that comes off easily because the fitting isn't perfect to the mecha and you might try to press on the armour frames to get it to fit on the delphine, which will cause some parts to pop-off.

The detailing and paint is pretty good despite the materials. I was tempted to get the evangelion and gurren lagann (whatever happened to the ZOE mecha?) but after handling the Delphine, i don't think i'll be getting future stuff from this line unless they improve their quality. The Delphine sold out pretty quickly on online stores during the 1st run and now the 2nd re-release so I wonder if its just a matter of the franchise being popular or is it because the riobot line is limited and popular in Japan.

*pictures to come....but not many since i'm too lazy to pose it since its so hard to reattach
