  1. If I may ask, is the SDF-1 that is seen in Macross Plus similar to the DYRL version? I'm not that huge of a fan of the SDF-1 itself, but I am actually considering biting the bullet and getting this to compliment my Macross Plus display. I imagine that it would be one heck of a center-piece.

In fact, if someone does own the 1/60 YF-19 and YF-21, is it possible to get a shot of them together with the SDF-1?

Yes it is the same one, but decomissioned and put as a permanent monument in Macross City.

Always thought to be the only SDF-type cruiser but fans were proven wrong with the appearance of the Gloval in Macross Frontier.

  2. Confirmed, the spikes on the end of the main guns are retractable. According to Yamato they just pull out and can be extended by about 15mm. Doh! not sure how I missed that. Will have to amend the review and add some more pics.

    Graham

Damnit! Now i have no reason to complain....except the price of course.

  3. No one said it would cause a time paradox (that's back to the future), it just seemed more of an issue that Mikuru not know who was pulling her strings so to speak. But the specific circumstances

Where slightly future/present Kyon, Mikuru & Yuki travel back to December 18th are still unknown. Regardless, future Mikuru already knew that Kyon's life needed to be saved, and that she'd run into her past(present) self.

It would seem that they go to the trouble to hide their presence from their past selves so they don't mess with "pre-destiny" or whatever since it never happened to them before. Else space-time-continuum would be disrupted and more crap will happen. Paradox. Hence why Kyon refrained from meeting himself as well.

THat said, future Mikuru probably knew she'd meet with her future self so she let it happen? :/

  4. I'm note quite sure about the time travellers faction's role in events. Did they just complete a major coup against the other factions? They facilitated the creation of "John Smith" which not only caused Haruhi going to North High to meet Kyon but after the events of Disappearance also gives him direct access to her powers. Kyon can now shield Yuki from disciplinary action from the Data entity, essentially cutting lose the Data Integration Thought Entity's main agent.

I wonder did Mikuru and future Mikuru meet at the knife scene, or was that just Kyon's delirium?

I believe that John Smith is a vital thing for some future event, that Kyon has to "control" or influence Haruhi into doing something.

As for 2x mikuru scene, it was because teenage mikuru had to bring back Kyon to the past 3 years ago to finish what he started....to inject Yuki with the recovery program. Which was kinda strange since shouldn't the two mikurus meet since it might cause some paradox effect? Adult mikuru had to put her younger self to sleep when she met up with Kyon just awhile ago.

Overall saw the movie and loved it. I couldn't finish season 2 due to E8 and got abit burned. Boy do i know how Yuki feels. Overall very nice movie. Makes me feel bad for Yuki though since i'm rooting for her to get Kyon but I guess that will never happen. :(

  5. Anyone know where I can stream Lupin III: The Secret of Mamo and the Gold of Babylon? The torrents I found haven't moved for a couple of days.

Also, just watched Black Rock Shooter. Definitely interesting, was wondering at first what was going on since the show switched back and forth between two girls at school and two demon girls fighting, but figured it out towards the end. Anyone know more about the background of the show? Tried looking it up, but only found info about what happens in the show itself.

    There IS no background.

    Simple chronology:

1.) A guy named huke drew a single image of a character called Black Rock Shooter on deviantart or pixy or something.

2.) ryo, a Hatsune Miku vocaloid composer of supercell fame, saw image and liked it, so he made a song out of it.

3.) A flash music video with the song and thus the BRS phenomena sky rocketed.

4.) More images of BRS and characters supposedly from the same universe are produced by huke.

4.) Merchandise by Good Smile Company

    5.) Anime

    6.) Video game

That said, BRS had little to no background so the anime staff had the freedom to interpret BRS in any way they saw fit. Didn't turn out that well IMHO. The PSP video game for example has a completely other take on BRS which takes place in a post apocalyptic earth.

  6. Just got back form seeing this...

My favorite movie this year. :D

Jeff Bridges was awesome (x2); Olivia Wilde was awesome; the light cycles where awesome; Daft Punk was awesome; Cillian Murphy was awesome for the 90 seconds or so he was actually in the moive; Olivia Wilde's hair was extra awesome. :p

I love this movie, and I NEED me some hot toy's figures from it.

    (1/6 scale Tron/Rinzler please)

You getting the Hot Toys light cycle i reckon?

  7. Bland acting.

    Bad pacing.

    Boring plot.

Alot of lingo that i couldn't understand.

    Could barely hear them talking....not sure if its just my theatre but the whole "ISO" or whatever they called thing was lost on me cuz i can't hear what kevin was talking about other than genocide. =.=;;

    I expected way more.

  8. Haven't watched the finale, .... but I want an Ayase route :p .

It would seem the various ovas would be different routes, like alternate versions of ep 12. Cause ep 12 hints on the various possible routes that Kyousuke could take but didn't due to the current Kirino ending.

    E.g.:

Kuroneko hinting that it won't be "nii-san" she'll be calling him soon. (wow the confidence). Also the tsun tsun Ayase encounter which could very well be an opening to the Ayase route.

  9. Glad it worked out for you!

    @troyness

I got pictures for you and Loop! First, some 'before' pictures:

    006kulq.jpg

Notice how Max can only look straight ahead, while Millia can turn to the side, this is because the cockpit section on Millia is pulled down farther, creating more clearance and exposing the 'neck.' Furthermore, as a result of this Millia is able to lock her nose section in place, while Max's won't.

    009om.jpg

    Compared to Max:

    008iup.jpg

Well, let's get to work and open Max up to see what's wrong. Here is the first set of screws you need to remove (there's one on the opposite side of the cockpit as well). These screws secure tiny 'arms' that hold the cockpit down while allowing it to move up and down for the transformations:

    011nf.jpg

With those screws removed, you can pop the 'arms' off their pegs and lift the cockpit section a bit more. This allows you to get at the next set of screws. Again, there are two screws (with one circled in the picture). These are the most difficult to remove/replace due to their awkward position:

    014dg.jpg

Removing these screws allows you to remove the cockpit fuselage and get at the source of the problem. The circled screw is the one that may be sticking out too far and preventing the cockpit section from being pushed down far enough:

    017jl.jpg

As you can see from this next set of photos, the screw on this Max is actually fine, it sits flush inside its screw hole. The circled grey block was just really tight so I needed to use more force to push it down  . But, notice where the screw sits when the block has been properly pushed in; obviously if that screw were sticking out you wouldn't be able to get the cockpit to push in all the way:

    025qa.jpg

    027m.jpg

"Keiichi, you idiot," you're thinking, "you probably just needed to use more force on your other VF-22S' too!" Well, I may be an idiot, but I'm not stupid! ...or something  . Here is why I was reluctant to use more force. The screw on the left is the one taken from Max at the problem area, while the screw on the right was taken from Millia in the same spot. Note how much larger the head of Millia's screw is, it will NOT sit flush inside the screw hole. I removed the same screw from Gamlin's VF-22S:

    024nv.jpg

So basically, the wrong sized screw was used on Millia and Gamlin. As a result, the head of the screw was poking out and stopping the cockpit from being pushed all the way in. Unlike Frogze, I was not able to screw the screw further in, the head was just too large. So, I just took the screw out, and everything still functions perfectly well. Once you've confirmed the problem, just put everything back together, here is a reference shot of how the cockpit armor needs to be positioned when reassembling:

    032nl.jpg

Thanks for the pics! Haven't played with mine yet but shall go home and do some operation. :p

  10. So the white-haired girl's called Strength, huh? Is it just me or do her weapons look different here? IIRC, they looked like pile-drivers things in the anime, not gauntlets. Gotta watch the DVD again to confirm.

I see they actually included the bio-mechanical vertebra/tail thing, too. Wonder if it's articulated as well.

Remembered it as gauntlets in the anime. Besides she only appeared in passing shots.

  11. Just finished Katanagatari last night. What an amazing last episode. It turned an OK, if otherwise fun but forgettable series into something great. I'm still going over it in my brain and may end up re-watching it real soon.

Long death scene is long. A tad sad that Togame's feelings were part of her schemes right from the very beginning.:(

I knew that this show was destined for great things, and I'm glad it turned out pretty epic.

  12. technically, however, i have actually bought FOUR Figma; the fourth being a woman from "Ikki Tousen; Great Guardians"

that i picked up for the sole purpose of claiming her loose-knee-socked legs for Mikuru.

i otherwise do not count her short existence in my collection at all, as i very much disliked her

outside of her very specific use for my Mikuru, and have long since disposed of the unused balance of her body...

..feel free to kill me softly now...

Lol...wow....u cannibalised kanu unchou for her socks? That's a 1st i've heard.

@Shaorin: You have no mercy, don't you?

@GU-11: A shame too, it be nice to see a figma-jointed crab.

No surprises there, though I wonder if Insane BRS will get a release...

Anyway, two pieces of info concerning Black Rock Shooter: BRS is definitely getting two games, one for web browser and one for the PSP--The PSP game looks like poo. Also, there may be sequel OVA coming soon.

Insane version....probably eventually. But the PSP game version is probably guranteed. It is slightly different from classic BRS, one being the coat/tailcoast being the most obvious to me. I didn't really scrutinise it.

It's a very dangerous theory that will bring all of mankind to the brink of extinction if not kept in check.

    Ouh yes....once u pop u can't stop.
