sort of OT: i caught the anisong festival in SG last weekend and saw Scandal(K-On) for the first time. man, those chicks rock hard! and in school uniforms and knee-high socks

as with the anime, i found the bassist the cutest, though she is the opposite of Mio as she seems to play to the crowd the most.

May'n was there too, and she sure is an energizer bunny. i got hungry though and stepped out between Scandal and May'n to grab some food. when i got back May'n was already singing Universal Bunny.

Just watched Macross Frontier Itsuwari No Utahime.

Its mostly new animation but by GOD the pacing is horrible. Even DYRL? wasn't this slow. It is basically goin through the same basic plot as the TV series but with little things changed here and there to speed up the story. Despite that it still feels slow and I felt they didn't manage to put sheryl and ranka on the same screen as much as they should for the "Triangler" effect. Sheryl goes flirting around Alto most of the time while Ranka does her odd jobs as an up and coming idol with barely enough time for Alto.

Don't know about you guys but I feel japanese movies in general (anime or live action) have pacing issues.

I believe the box contains information of the original intent/plan for the federation, spacenoids and earth when the UC started. Prime Minister Ricardo Marcenas was killed before he can finish his speech, i think the box contains the speech or some form of charter, the UC era is full of corruption and oppression, the contents of the box probably has the power to correct all that is wrong in the UC era or take it back to the original vision.

No, as we saw on early part of episode 1, Laplace box (or anything inside that) already existed on UC 001. Unless that box can predict the future.

I think the box was created due to what happened during the laplace incident on UC 001. It was the catalsyt that brought about the rise of zeon and caused the war some 80 years later. Based on eps 1 and 2, i think its hinted that the box contains a secret behind the incident or whatever that caused the war to happen. It might be a huge conspiracy by the leaders of that time to purposely segregate the spacenoids from those on earth.

The novels might've already mooted my points but i'm basing solely on anime.

There are only two versions. the metal coating and prism coating are the same thing, stores are just using different names.

The Metal/prism coating version is Chromed, the normal version is white with a slight gloss pearl finish.

BTW; I wish people would stop asking "which is the best/better X?" when they're talking about completely subjective things. whether one sculpt or paint scheme is better looking than the other is purely the opinion of the person comparing the two, someone else can't make that decision for you.

If you want to know the difference between two things ask "what's the difference between X and Y?"

Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah i meant to ask the differences but based on your descriptions it sounds like pearl is the way to go for me. I don't like chrome unless its a hyaku-shiki-like MS. Bling only goes well with certain mecha.

speaking of K-On, just started on the second season airing on Animax. didn't like them changing Azusa's dub to a screechy, much younger voice. i liked it in the 1st season when she sounded mature despite her appearance/age. is Azusa's original Japanese voice young or mature?

A young voice with a mature sounding air around her. She's the most mature sounding next to Mio and Mugi. I won't knwo about the dubs.

Started watching Occult Academy over the weekend (up to ep4), and i'm liking it so far. Much of that has to do with the lead character Maya. Loving her.

I finished this series few days ago too. Not bad considering it doesn't take itself too seriously. But nothing great either.

Mecha animation doesn't seem up to par with the 1st episode which is quite a shame. But nevertheless some awesmoe MS combat there.

Leader SS looks good in bot mode. Lots of articulation though the gimmicks hamper wrist movement to just up and down, no rotation.

Fighter mode is.. it looks like a pregnant guppy with wings.

Is this comment relating in terms of accuracy with a F-22, or just the design of the F-22 in general?

I just finished watching Casshern Sins and Bakemonogatari. I must say that both are pretty good. The animation in both is just stunning too. I like the story in both as well...especially the character development between Hitagi and Koyomi in Bakemonogatari. However, with Casshern I have a minor issue. I thought the first half of the episodes were great...and then about half way it just started to disappoint - a lot was left unexplained in the end. Although I'm sure the writers wanted to leave something for the audience to interpret/figure out for themselves...I think they could have done a better job towards the end. All in all though, the story in Casshern is decent, if not good, in my opinion. I especially loved the music in both...more so in Bakemonogatari. Though, there's one musical piece, played often in Casshern Sins, that I cannot get enough of - "Memory Past" by Kaoru Wada.

In no way related but if you liked the animation in bakemonogatari and casshern sins, i'd recommend you Katanagatari. Light hearted and lots of character development.

In other news, i started Soredemo Machi Wa Mawatteiru .... pure slapstick fun by SHAFT if you're into those kinda stuff. Don't think its by Shinbo since the "SHAFT"-ness seems rather toned down.

I'm really enjoying Panty & Stocking. XD

Watched the first three epsisodes of Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai .

Really enjoyed it. Otaku centric show about a protagonist who gets introduced to the world of anime fandom through his little sister with otaku-like tendencies.

Hilarious was the real life meet up in episode 2 with the mahou shoujo and bishonen fan trading insults.

Saori Bagina moment was epic.

Clocked Vanquish in 5 hours 30 minutes. Pretty epic and cool game despite campy US vs Russia storyline. Gears of War on steroids isn't an exaggeration
