  1. That is funny !

Well I'm thinking of quitting on Star Driver. The plot thus far from 1 to 10. Girls. Boys. Gratuitous booty shots. Robot Fight. Pretty Boy Winner. End Credits. Gee I think next time I am going to send my short story from my 4 year old daughter to a Japanese anime producer. Samurai Girls is pretty good and progressing well. I cant seem to get into SRW-OG the Inspector. Wacky robots that are all super-powered and no clear indication who the protagonist is bleh

Seems this anime season is pretty dry

    Two words.

    Squid girl.

    aka Shiryaku Ika Musume.

  2. Thoughts? Lemme pose for a second.

    BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSTER BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!

Yeah. I missed on the Chogokin...let's hope this is PACKED to the gills.

I got the old kaiyodo figure and the SOC toy. Not sure if i need another but i'd get another Nono if they come up with one.

  3. I've watched episodes 1-10 so far and I must say I LOVE the show! It's easily one of my all time favorites. Thanks again for recommending it! I still need to watch the last two episodes but I'm working on that. I've been trying to find a place to buy the Blurays but all I keep finding are the "limited editions" which are going for $83 each. I'm not exactly looking forward to spending about $1000 for 12 Bluray discs. Would you, or anyone else for that matter, know of a place where I could buy the normal edition Blurays for this show? I've tried Amazon, YesAsia, Play-Asia, eBay, and CDJapan with no luck. I'm really hoping the limited editions aren't my only option (DVDs are out of the question)!

Glad you liked it. :D I just finished it myself today.

Katanagatari brings out comedy and tragedy in both their extremeties. At the end of it all, its a story about Shichika and his growth from an island bumpkin into a "proper" person.

Too bad alot of people had to die for it.

Its quite a tragic story now that I think about it. :(

As for blurays....I hope an english version will be released in a box set eventually. I'll get it in a heartbeat. But for now, not looking into getting any untranslated BDs.

In other news, I just got my copy of Nanoha The Movie 1st and watched it immediately. I recommend it to any Nanoha fan and anyone who likes to see fancy explosions. Very good production values and its always fun to see magical girls blast each other in the name of friendship in 1080p, no? :D

  4. Surprisingly, I managed to snag Figma Marisa off of ebay for a "decent" price. She's new/sealed in box and seems to be authentic. While she doesn't have the poseability of BRS, the Marisa Figma gives BRS the run for her money with accessories.

Strangely, when concerning the Touhou Figmas I'm 2-for-2 when it comes to missing a fist and getting duplicate holding-hand... It's funny.

I'll take pictures of all of them soon. I need to get off my lazy bum and stop being sidetracked by other things.

Are touhou figmas limited release or some online store's special cuz i didn't even know they had them.

  5. Watched the first 3 Episodes of "Rin: Daughter of M" (something or other starting with M, can't remember it exactly)

I'm impressed with the dubbing on this one, it is excellent - not a clunker in the cast so far.

The show is about a pair of immortal women who run a detective agency and a man they pick up. (and that is a lame description, but to say any more gives away too much of the plot). The episodes so far go back and forth, one taking place in 2011 and another taking place in 1991. It has me hooked enough to look forward to seeing where the plot goes from the first three eps.

Warning - this is NOT a show for the younger set, I doubt this could even have gotten on Japanese TV (but I've been wrong before). If on US TV it would have to be on one of the pay channels...

I'm still looking forward to watching it. I avoid reading any spoilers I can though (already know it deals with dimension hopping...).

I know this is mentioned earlier, but who has the best subs for this show again, and what would I need to google up in order to find them?

It was called Mnemosyne during the Japanese release. Pretty awesome and dark show.....lotsa sex and violence too :D

  6. So yeah...very different from what I was expecting. The way the credits were separate for each video (and that each one had different staff) makes me think that this is really just a way for the different animators at Satelight to strut their stuff and try to outdo each other. And as a short, fun "jam session," it works beautifully. If you like Sheryl, you'll love at least some portions of it. If you like Ranka, you'll love some others. If you like both, then this is a must-see, since it's really a forty-minute love letter to both of them.

Sounds like gurren lagann parallel works but for Macross. :p

I had no idea they were showing this in the theatres. I thought it was a BD release.

  7. close, but not quite. I believe it actually goes like this:

    Kamille's Design -> Delta gundam -> Methuss -> Prototype Zeta Gundam's -> Zeta Gundam -> Zeta+

It just occured to me despite having the Zeta II GFF figure, i just realised that the ReZel probably is its direct descendant, which i think only made it as far as concept canon-wise.

  8. In the interest of saving you a couple bucks, the first six Ciaphas Cain novels and a handful of related short stories have been put into two big omnibus editions... Ciaphas Cain: Hero of the Imperium and Ciaphas Cain: Defender of the Imperium. There's also a seventh novel that just came out entitled The Emperor's Finest. If you're the cautious type, you can catch extracts of both omnibus editions and the new book here, here, and here respectively (in PDF format).

I love Ciaphas Cain books! Very great fun injecting humour into the OH SO GRIM DARKNESS of the 41st Millenium.

I'd like to recommend the Ender Series, or at least just the 1st book, Ender's Game. Its like a sci-fi Harry Potter but the main protagonist is a genius kid with siblings hell bent on world domination amid an oncoming alien invasion of Gunbuster space monster proportions. Time dilation, warp and anti-matter bombs are in the mix. The later 3-4 books of the Ender series become abit more philosophical and even "religious" since Orson Scott Card seems to inject his mormonism in his sci-fi books.

  9. Updated MSN-001 Delta Gundam actually... 's called the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus. The design backstory for it puts it and the Hyaku Shiki as having a common ancestor in the original MSN-001 Delta Gundam design (which was never completed).

So is the Zeta Gundam the ancestor to the Hyaku Shiki or the Delta Plus?

Always thought the Hyaku Shiki was the prototype for the Zeta before they put wave-rider mode onto it.

  10. Anyone hear played Vanquish yet? Finally got around to picking up a copy today. Played about half an hour, and i'm totally blown away. It sure does deliver everything it said it would. Sure the story is nothing incredible, though this is one of those games where gameplay completely steals it all. I'm not even one for shoot 'em ups, though this has completely won me over.

Got it when it was released. Loved it. I had trouble following the story and didn't know why the supposed colony was filled with robots with no civilians in sight, but who cares? Action was top notch. Its a shame that its so short though and I clocked 5 hours on my 1st play through. Now playing a 2nd time to get better scores and the challenges.

  11. Just watched Koe De Oshigoto OVA 1. I loved it!

Its about a 16 yr old highschool girl who feels indebted to her elder sister who has been looking after her since young, and felt she had to return the favour when her sister asked her to do voice acting for an eroge. (ero game) What follows is hilarity! Animation and art is top notch and voice acting is nevertheless excellent since its an anime about voice acting.

Caution though that its an adult title and its about eroge after all. It does have annoying censor sounds to words/noise and of course "unmentionable" anatomy.
