  1. How does the nosecone flip up and backwards without a big ugly hinge visible on the fusulage in Fighter mode?

Actually if I remember well from the IMAI I own, you don't have to flip the nosecone up and backwards, only up. Then you flip the intakes 45 degrees forward and voilà! So you don'r need to have a huge ugly hinge to make it perfect variable, only a small and easy to conceal one. Cool, huh? ;)

  2. I'm so happy. For me is one of those rare moments in life when panic does pay off. That blue is great, the heaviness of the toy is also good news. Hell, the production toy even looks sleeker than the proto version. I think I'm gonna get the whole line. Plus, if the toy solds well (and now I have the strong feeling that it will), we'll have the Beta also.

Suddenly those 80 bucks don't hurt that much. :)

  3. Hey, Lads!

Anyone knows where can I download free vintage video games (Pac-Man, Galaga and such) for my Macintosh? I want to buy an X-Box but my girlfriend miss those so much.

I also remember a very old Macross Saga video game in 2D, anyone remembers it?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. WHAT DO YOU USE TO GET RID OF CRAYON? OR OIL PASTEL? OR BLOOOD?

    Fire :D

Serious now: What kind of graffite is best to panel lining? HB? 2B? other?

  5. Thanks for the tip and the pics. I haven't panel line my valks yet, but I don't quite like the look of the Sharpie for the lining, it looks "too Sharpie" to me. I've worked with Sharpies many times (I'm and artist) and it has a very disctintive black tone to it.

Besides the lines look too dark for me. I've been looking for a medium grey fine marker, but I can't find one yet.

  6. Well, I recently got a gakken and I just don't like it. Its too big and chunky. I'll probably sell it and buy a MPC. I think 1/48 would be a better scale but I don't want to beat a dead horse.

I feel the same. While the Gakken was the only Mospeada/Alpha out there I thought it was cool. Now I can't even think in spending 250 bucks for a toy who has a better and newer version for less than half the price.

This does not means I'm happy with the $80 price tag. I'm talking to you Toynami

  7. Wow! Those are great graphics. One thing bothers me though: Can you pilot other Valks beside the VF-1? I mean I love DYRL and everything, but the PS2 is not exactly cheap and there's so many cool Valkiries out there.

  8. I've been away from games for a long time now, and I'm thinking on getting one of the new platforms.

As always I choose the platform according to the games I like the most, so here's my question: Is this new Macross game available for X-box too, or just PS-2? and: Is this Macross game as "user friendly" as the VFX2 game? I remember that the first VFX controls were a bitch to use.

    Thanks guys :)

  9. all the etailer iknow that if price was slashed to 1/2 by toynami/HG all of us would by all 4 in one fell swwop!

but yes it is a mighty fine looking toy. now we wait till lower price.....

Sine the Alpha was advertised as "Limited Edition", I'm affraid to miss it. I know it's stupid, 'cause the VF-1's are still out there, but what can I say? I give myself to panic when it comes to certain items. Now you can call me an "Alpha scab"

  10. As for the shooting missles. Only the Japanese Gakeen cyclones came with the firing missle. The US versions (one with Robotech title on the box and another one that has Hensin Robo on the boxes were made with missles glued in the arm canons (I think that is what it is call). This is same with three diff. versions (Boxes) of Gakken Mospeada legioss. Gakeen Japanese bersion were included with gunpod and missles that can be shot. Two US version were not included with missles.

Oh, I see. I get the Hensin Robo one. Still rocks.

Does anybody knows how to fix the faded color thing?

  11. QUOTE (Dangaioh @ Dec 21 2003, 06:02 PM)

woohoo inexpensive customizations, here i come.

You can find reissues for $20-25, and you wont have to deal with filling all those hideous panel lines.

Yeah. It looks heavily customized already. Before start customizing it you would have to "de-customize" it. :p

Funny how the Battroid Mode is called Fighter Mode

  12. Congrats, man!

I found mine boxed at the San Diego Con a few years back. This one looks somewhat different. Are there more than one version?

Mine can't fire missiles tho' the firing system is apparently there. I thought it was broken or something, now I'm beginning to think that I get the Non-firing-missiles version.

Besides it seems faded by the sun. Does anyone knows how to fix this? 'cause I'm very proud of this toy B))

  13. Oh, and for those concerned about the apparent lack of detail (such as myself), here's an old scan of the shuttle's prototype. Since the resin is not as shiny as the painted version, if you watch carefully you can see that every hatch and panel line of the original line art is on the toy. Now my only concern is that friggin' pink color. <_<

  14. I agree with the being faithful to the line art comment. I'd like to see this detail added to the cargo bay doors. I assume its a missle launcher. I'm not 100% sure. I have a much larger picture if anyone wants to try and read the text.

    Enjoy,

    Carl

Looks like a laser cannon or something. I didn't realize of that detail on the line art 'till you mentioned it. I remember seeing that misplaced piece on the magazine scans and wonder what would Yamato cast this particular piece separately. Here's that scan again, watch the gerwalk's right arm, looks like everybody's lucky day :)

  15. I'll buy it. And not just because I'm a K. Monster fan. I love the way Yamato concealed the many articulations on the toes-flaps section. The resin kit is not that sleek.

The lack of detail and that horrible pink are my main concerns, but I'll get it. Oh yes, I will.
