OK, so Hasbro (or Takara) tool up a new sword for Leader Prime to be movie-accurate, yet it doesn't resemble the one in the movie at all. ?!?!? I recall it being symmetrical, rather broad, with a flared tip. Not looking like a pocket-knife hacksaw.

When it is retracted it's the right shape. Also the end product will be painted and whatnot.

ths was likely snatched in a factory.

  2. Has there been any definitive news yet on whether the Takara MP Starscream will have any differences to the Hasbro version?

I managed to get the Hasbro one but I also have the Takara one pre-ordered... I would hope that there's some meaningful difference between them, aside from packaging of course, maybe some accessories? The rumoured cape & crown would be nice.

As I understand it, it will be pressed off the MP:06 molds so that

it incorporates the few improvements it had and so it will not

suffer from the "safety modifications" the US vesion had.

Yes it will have correct faces.

  3. I have some sourcebooks on Xabungle, they have some very nice line and painted art.

I have always been amazed at how much high quality art was produced for this less

    that well known series.

I have all three SOC offerings and some of the model kits.

On an aside I noticed that the Iron Gear has rear hatches on the main/toe turrets.

They swing "down" mailbox style. There are some little details in there.

Overall I have been very pleased with the "toys" that have been made this decade.

Lots of fine details and awesome extras.

  4. I have seen a great deal of cool postings about this series scattered all over the

place here at Macross World. I'd like to see a more focused discussion on this

somewhat resurgent yet kind of obscure series. I hope other MW'rs would like to

    contribute as well.

    For starters:

I found this thread full of images: http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-40966-1-1.html

a few days ago It is packed with some some sweet images. Here is but a taste:

  5. YOu forgot to add crappy shaped tailfins amd also stubbier front and ridiculous double bump from the side profile with reduced details on the landing gear.

The severity of said "double bump" is more than likely an optical effect due to the black framing of

the canopy and the dark background the shot was taken with. Even if it isn't, I'm all about buying it!

  6. Actually, it matches up really well from what I can see in the pictures. I just went through the movie watching the scenes with the Black Selena in it. The pictures and the freeze-frame images were really, really close.

Looks pretty accurate to the line art to me:

  7. Oh please. Why would they specifically go, "Hey, here's the past!" and show G1 and then go on and on about how Ratchet was a veteran of the Great Wars, which BW already established was G1. They would've donel like Armada and made new footage that showed events similar to G1 but different. They used actual G1 footage! Come on, what are we supposed to think? Obviously they intended to make us think it was a continuation of G1.

At the Hasbro panel at BotCon they (Hasbro Reps) said it was a new continuity that was blend of elements

from all the series, primarily G1 and the new 'Film' continuity. They used the G1 footage as a clever

"nod to it's predacessors". Nothing more, nothing less.

  8. >>Excerpted from my Livejournal:

    From the Apollo 8 Mission:

The idea of Astronauts reading from the book of Genesis and wishing

us all "On the Good Earth" a Merry Christmas. Is sort of the perfect

blend of intellectual extremes. These "Paladins of Science" blessing

us on this "little blue planet" always gets to me. It gives me hope,

hope that we can and will do the right and wonderous things that should

    and must be done.

From us here in Corn Country+ we wish a Merry Christmas to all of you

    on "The Good Earth"...
