That's an amazing idea! Where will you display it? I would love one protected under a plexi-glass as a low table in the lounge :D

that's actually a good idea, but then it should be the entire island and surrounding sea  loving that idea.

It would already look cool if you hang it at a wall in it's current state.

actually i can do that, the board in the picture is only the "blueprint" so to speak :D

the actual diorama display in its current state...

  2. i might aswell make this an actual thread...

i have have started my very first Diorama, and its is the SDF-1 situated on macross island,

its will be in scale 1/8000.

the SDF-1 model im using in the diorama is a Bandai 1/8000 storm attacker kit, i converted

into Cruiser mode, i had to remodel some of the parts since they where not to scale or was simply the wrong shape,

    changes made to parts where:

Main cannon (gave it more bulk and more details)

Main Cannon connector (changed shape completely)

    bridge boom (made from scratch)

    bridge (needed separation and details)

main thrusters (looked to much like feet, changed shape and added details)

the diorama rough sketch is pretty much done, need more roads though.

Another interesting SDF1 diorama would be the one at Mars Base where the ship is surrounded by lurking Regults.

Yes that would be a very interesting one to do... adding dust clouds around the SDF-1 as its trying to take off...

but are there any good pictures of that Mars base where you see all the base?

Cool, "little" is only the scale, ey?! B))

well i always wanted to make the island diorama, and this is the smallest sdf-1 i had on hand... 1/8000

the 1/15000 and 1/20000 are way too small to make a discernible macross city and military base... (with any details atleast)

and its my first diorama ever so.... ;)

    Nice At-At and awesome Yamato!

And I shouldn't be having these thoughts about an inanimate doll...

if the thoughts were about either the AT-AT or yamato i would be concerned....

if you mean my Sivil figure... well..  you are not the only one i imagine... ;)

Love what you do with papercraft!

What are the differences with model painting? Do you airbrush with acrylics and gloss?

paper ain't that different from plastic, you can paint with airbrush regular brush, weathering ect. ect ;)

this is what the original hair looked like...

    An-Anime-Girl-Figure-Papercraft.jpg.b37a6797856f0741a13520179f951da0.jpg

what i did with the new hair "strands" to strengthen them was to add a drop of extra thin superglue

making them as resilient as plasticard... ^_^

What I find hardest is finding proper brushes for painting eyes where I live. The ones I can find are either too soft or too hard, so my eyes end up looking way less sharp than what I can see Japanese modellers do. Finding brushes small enough for little details is pretty hard in general, even at scale model stores.

For the eyes themselves, I just follow an eye painting tutorial for the order of colors and details, and try to match what is shown in the kit instructions or on the box.

Whenever I finish painting eyes, I always consider myself very lucky, if it worked out OK...

Tamiyas fine soft brushes works well for me, since the tips are very pointy and stay like that if cared for...
