i love that weathering, have that model kit too, and lookin at yours gave me inspiration for mine....
-
to show the difference between original and my reworked!
now the nose took me along time to make (below)
i couldn't quite place what made the nose look so off, then just recently it occured to me what was wrong...
it wasnt thick enough.... so i made it look more whole and its still able to slide in under the chest plate.
ill upload pictures of individual parts later!

Back when i first got the kit, one of the first things i noticed was the Gunpods.
the upper gun is a Heavy Rail Gun
and the lower is a Medium Rail Gun
o_O nani?!
the lower Gun would'nt even fit inside the storage space inside the left arm
thats how big it is!
you can kinda guess what i did next......modify modify!
i made the Heavy Rail Gun slightly bigger and meaner looking...
and made the Medium Rail Gun Smaller! and collapsible!
Heres they are compared to the unmodified onces:
and lastly as collapsed.

i started this back in 2011, but i got sidetracked in to various other projects!
i simply love the design of this fighter, but this model not so much...yet.
if bandai's 1/55 VF-1 was a chuncky monkey, this model is a flying Burger!!
the only thing on this that is scale 1/100 or closest to, is the plane itself.
the rest is way out of scale, well thats how it looks to me.
i decided to rework it all to make it look like the linedrawings...
as much as i like to make it look like this!
it wont be possible in this scale with transformation

first up was the back thruster parts, hollowed them out to make room for actual thrusters
but when i revisited them i decided they where still to thick/big, so i made them thinner.
more to come soon.... need to take some updated picture of the parts as they are now...

Hey Man, are we going to get some Merry Christmas SDF-1 Cruiser pics?

i need a "shrink ray" then ill have to borrow ur Daedalus, attach it to my SDF-1 take some pictures
oh and superb build.... looks extremely awesome!!!
-
yay another update.... granted that they are not that big...
however since theres only touchups, weathering and minor rework left on this
glorious battleship, ill upload smaller updates, perhaps more frequent than thus far...
Prometheus has gotten another layer of weathering:
Begun rework on SLV-111 Daedalus, I want the hatch to open so i can create something similar to this:
its at alpha stages atm...
which also means ill need to make more Destroids...
Mainly Tomahawks and Monsters
-
Is that Tamiya's Type 74? I have one of those waiting in the HLJ Private Warehouse.
yea it is... i simply love that model!!
-
That is beyond awesome, now take a ton of nice pics of it in both modes and mid transformation.
i will as soon as i have made the last touch ups......
First is CVS-101 Prometheus!
been adding some weathering, also added the 101 on the front...
Look a tiny Destroid Defender
Should i add a Vtol/Helipad here??

What was the adjustment on the shoulders? They're a bit higher now?
yup i raised them...
had to make them so they where center in cruiser mode but, raised in Storm mode....
some might not see it that well....
however it made the difference for me....
-
That thing is gorgeous!!
maybe I should make a Sdf-1 in same scale....
-
ok i finally have a update for u guys!!!
first though.... Do u know those times where u know something is off but cant quite place it?!?!
just had that kind of "Aha" moment
found two things wrong with this battle cruiser....
the "Shoulders" where at the wrong position..
and the "arms" where looking like the Movie version why didn't i see that!!!
well i have changed that, well in the process of changing it!
first up is the re-position of the "shoulders"
next is the first step in the new and improved "arms" also more sturdy

Real life has Been interfering lately....
However I suspect I'll have more time within the next couple of weeks....

ok i have made a decision!
while contemplating how to make the transformation i encountered a problem.....
Perfect Transformation or Aesthetics (appearance and form) or both....
heres what i arrived at:
1. both is not possible with paper, theres not enough room inside the parts + durability will be a issue
2. im not sure plastic is durable enough for that purpose either
3. i dont have the tools to make the mechanisms in metal
4. Perfect transformation alone is not a pleasing sight since it will just be SDF-1 Movie version all over again
the chest thrusters being the main issue, movie version chest thrusters dont move out from center ship
5. Aesthetics it is, with my own touches ofcause
Appearance in this case i more important imo.
That doesn't mean im giving up on the both option!
Some progress has also been made:

Will the ARMD's that thunderchild made fit on this? if so I need to print them and print out the SDF-1!!!!
Hmm i havent checked if it does.... But u can always print it out in scale if it isn't already...
The TV ARMD platforms are already on my to do list....

As promised, I'm going to attempt my first ever build up of Jasmine's photoetch VF-1. The box arrived slightly less than two weeks after it was shipped, and luckily, Canada Customs saw fit to not charge me the applicable fees!
The kit has 3 sheets of thin photoetch, a great construction manual, and a bag of resin parts. The photoetch is sandwitched in between two thin plastic layers, and I plan on leaving one layer on to prevent parts from flying off as I cut them out of the tree.
Keeping in mind that I haven't completed any serious amounts of photoetch, one must wonder WHY I decided to jump in with both feet. The simple answer is because this looks cool. That and I may be slightly insane. But mostly, because this looks damn cool.
This is everything that's in the box.
AA battery for scale of parts.
Be warned, I'm a slowish builder and I won't be starting this kit for a few days, but I'll keep you guys posted!
You know.... this is candy to my eyes
Must......have......my......own!!!!!
