  1. Huh. Well, now I have yet another reason to love Tamashi stands! Very nifty idea. Thanks! Oh yeah, are you just supergluing the plastic sheet to the paper or do you use another glue for that? I was thinking maybe epoxy myself but would need to rough up the glue side beforehand. Again thanks!

Yes... super glue (Cyano Acrylate) bonds extremely well with paper... (into the paper, to be more exact) also bonds well on styrene....

epoxy i imagine would be good in cases where your paper parts are bumpy, and you need to fill out the gaps.

    hope that helps ;)

  2. This is amazing! I bought this thing, and was planning to just build it and paint some resin on or in the parts. But yeah... gonna do at least some of what you are doing. No stranger to modding a kit, kitbashed the old amt ENTERPRISE kit into my own design. But I would like to make this able to transform(well, partsform) via magnets, which would also give the shoulders movement. Any suggestions on making the elbows movable?

i used these for my other build, good tight joints..

Check his 1/2700 scale build. The first one one in his sig.

    you said it ;)

  3. The conversion kit might cost more than the Hasegawa kit itself because it's all the major parts of the ship. Body, legs and the main gun... I'm really shocked Hasegawa did this. I think Arcadia or Yamato brought up this option also after they did their movie version.

looking at these pics, i realize something... the ship is slightly to short overall, cannon is missing the iconic curve, cannon is not quite massive enough...

wth.. is it with that intake/duct combining bow with main body....legs need more length and too thick at front...

Prometheus almost there... Daedalus closest part to what SDFM equivalent should be...

also bridge although bigger than DYRL version... still not quite there...

by all means my own TV SDF-1 build is not perfect and has details never before seen on any DYRL or SDFM SDF-1 kits...

    thats just what i like...

if i had the time or knowhow i would consider making a mould of my SDF-1 and sell the kits here...

  4. ok started on the inside of the legs...

decided to borrow some of the design details from DYRL SDF-1 since TV version has

virtually no details there  , other than some lines....

ill give it my personal touch so that it isnt completely identical :p

cut out large holes and backed them with a piece of styrene sheet..

and ofcause my good friend Milliput

some of the parts needed for the details there

  5. it's quite hard adding details on this ship...

at first i was like... there so much room for details

but, i don't want to over-clog the surfaces, so figuring out which detail and how detailed those details

    should be, isnt easy...

    made some more details...

  6. Very impressive. I would love to know how you achieved these curved surfaces. It almost looks vacuum-formed!

it isn't vacu-formed.... don't have the tools for that... yet

its put together in sections then sanded round to fit the curve i need..

further more there's two layers of Styrene on that bridge, the inner layer at 1mm thickness

and the outer layer at 0,5mm
