It's not your age, it's your personal tastes. I've been watching Macross since I was 15, and now, at age 46 this coming Sunday, I'm just as thrilled with this Macross as I was with all the other Macross shows (except for II) that came before it.

I wouldn't be too concerned, since
they said life expectancy not lifespan is 30 years.
-
I doubt it will happen, but I hope that
the fans of Walkure don't turn on Freyja for being a Windermerean.

This year has been a terrible year for music with all these legendary artists passing away. My hopes of seeing both Bowie and Prince in concert are now permanently dashed!
-
I really love this show's attention to detail! I don't recall if Frontier had it, but it was quite awesome seeing the control surfaces on the VF-1 actually moving during the flying sequences.
-
I thought it was damn awesome to see the VF-1 in action again!
I also liked the new song that Freyja was singing. -
But only if you get tickets to get in. Apparently there's a lottery for them...
Well, I've apparently been successful in signing up for the lottery. However, I'm screwed if I actually do wind up winning, since to actually get the ticket, I need access to a FamilyMart to pay for and receive it.

Well, that was announced during the broadcast of ep.1 last week; the really BIG news is that there is going to be a full, proper Walkure concert in August in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya!
I like this news considering that I'm tentatively planning on going to Japan in August! This just gives me more incentive to make that happen.

If Fewture's Garland is bigger than Yamato's, then it really shouldn't be 1/24 scale. For that to work, they must have really upped how big a real Garland would be to make it larger in a smaller scale. Does that mean that the Shogo figure in Fewture's Garland is smaller than the Shogo in Yamato's?

Wow, she totally doesn't sound anything like Milia in that video!

If I remember Wing correctly, Heero never killed a single damned person even though he threatened to all the time. Mikuzuki, on the other hand, hasn't even once hesitated to send someone to their grave.

Funny how cheap you can get a 3000GT these days when compared to a 300ZX or a Supra!
Another big product of Mitsubishi is elevators. I think I saw their elevators (and escalators) in at least 2/3rds of the buildings I went in in Japan.
-
Even in Japan Mitsubishi has a bad reputation according to my friend, Shigeko!
-
I hope that means they there will also be a USS New Jersey!

Oh, the PCEngine games DID have some form of creative oversight? That surprises the heck out of me.
I played the heck out of 2036 in an emulator. It's a pretty sweet game.
I bought a Japanese PC Engine just so I could play that game!

I'm finding Konosuba to be much funnier than Slayers!

I'll be going to Katsucon this weekend where I'll probably be picking up a few Gundam models even though I haven't even built most of the kits that I picked up during my Japan trip this past September.

I don't remember how old he was, but my mother's father lied about his age so that he could enlist to fight in WW I.
-
There's an arcade in Chicago that actually had that game in it!
-
Damn, those first 0083 kits were terrible! Once the MG versions of them came out, I got rid of the old 1/144 kits.

I was watching a new show from this season, Myriad Colors Phantom World and came across a character name that could possibly be a homage to Macross. The main character just happens to be named Ichijo Haruhiko and uses the same kanji for the names. Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it.

I've always loved the opening theme to Space Adventure Cobra! It's probably my favorite openings from the early 80s!

Like Star Wars, apparently this is what the fans want, judging from the poll. Unfortunately, for those of us who were with the franchise since the beginning, it is no longer enough to have the valks+music+love triangle and expect us all to accept everything at face value. At its core, Macross has been about the survivors of humanity banding together in the face of impossible odds, and persevering. This installment seems like a shameless cash grab with none of the depth or soul that made the initial series so great. Magical girls, phoned in Valk designs and crappy j-pop does not make a Macross series. Try again, guys. Try harder.
Speak for yourself. I've followed Macross since I first discovered it in 1985, and I'm perfectly happy with this first episode. Hell, I know quite a few people that consider the songs in the original Macross series as crappy J-Pop.
