  1. There was a rumor floating around that an MG G-Self was in planning, but nothing's materialized yet.

Which kinda sucks, because I actually did like the G-self's design, if nothing else about the show.

It's a shame, too, as I rather liked quite a few of the designs that came out of Reconguista and would have loved to see some 1/100 kits of them. I generally like to keep my Gundam models limited to the 1/100 scale, but will settle with 1/144 if there isn't any other options.

  2. I haven't owned a car with an automatic transmission in over 20 years! The last time that I drove an automatic car (2009 when I rented a Dodge Magnum during a vacation), it felt so damn sluggish!

Sorry, Duke, I hate that we're all making you feel lonely with our ability to drive cars with manual transmissions!

  3. Does that mean if you missed Macross the First volume 1-5 you can just buy volume 6 and get everything?

No, I think that just means volume 6 gets you everything that's been put up on ComicWalker for Macross the First, which I believe started somewhere in the middle of what would be the fifth volume.

  4. Having returned from Japan, I was surprised at how Gunpla flows like water in Tokyo and beyond. For those planning their trip to Japan, here are three of the best places to buy Gunpla, as they cost hundreds of yen less than retail.

    1. Yodobashi Camera (several locations in Japan)

    2. Gundam Front Tokyo (Diver City Mall, Odaiba)

    3. Bandai Asobi (Gotemba Premium Outlets, Shizuoka)

Gotemba Premium Outlets also has the advantage of a perfect view of Mount Fuji.

In addition, there's an ongoing promo with Yodobashi Camera and Bandai Asobi wherein you get a Gundam 00 sticker sheet (your choice of Celestial Being or the three Earth factions) for every Gunpla purchase.

Gunpla is pretty much everywhere you go in Japan. The toy section in the department store in Onojo City, Fukuoka, had a pretty impressive collection of Gundam kits. I think they were also priced below what it says on the box.

  5. this is a bit of an odd one. I really don't collect anything like this (I don't go after old series character figures, I don't care for big backdrops that are meant to be viewed from a single angle and I don't like busts/partial body figures). but I have his really big soft spot for french art nouveau that this is really taping into and I kind of want it.

Funny that today I should find myself browsing through the book that contained the illustration that this figure is based on.
