  1. c - taking the mother's last name may have become common practice. Note Sheryl Nome, who has the same last name as her grandmother Dr. Mao Nome. And also, in this very same series, Mirage Jenius, who is the daughter of (as I understood) Miaramia Jenius.

In fact the only paternal last names I can think off are unconfirmed. (Elmo Kridanik from Britai Kridanik and Makina Nakajima from Raizou Nakajima).

Actually, Mirage is the daughter Miranda Jenius.

  2. Oh yeah? How come Harmony Gold hasn't gone after these companies infringing on their copyrights?

    RoboTech Center

    Robotech Labs

    Robotech CAD Solutions

    Robotech Eng Co. Ltd.

    Robo-Tech

I believe it's because none of those companies work within the entertainment industry or offer products that are totally different from Harmony Gold's products. It's the same reason that two companies can have the same name as long as they have different logos and offer dissimilar products, i.e. Bass Ale and Bass Pro Shop.

  3. Anyone have translations of the captions next to the valks?

Depends on which ones that you're talking about. Other than the large block of text, most of the other, smaller, single line captions are either the names of the pilots of each one (the lettering in yellow, either above or next to each Valks designation), or the mode the Valk is in (the short three or four kanji lines in white).

  4. My least favorite kit out of the old CCA series was the Sazabi, but if anyone finds it dirt cheap it's worth it for the boxart and artwork in the instructions. The Jagd Dogas are my favorites and have waist armor that looks more like the line art than the hguc even though I still like the overall hguc better. Gears Doga was also good for its time.

They really do need to release MG kits for the Jagd Doga. It's the last of the CCA Neo Zeon MSs to get the MG treatment.

  5. I've been lucky enough to see the Vulcan a couple of times (sadly, it won't be flying anymore); always an impressive display of lift overcoming gravity that one!

I only got to see the static display Vulcan that's at the Royal Air Force Museum in London. Even on the ground it was quite impressive!

  6. How about this, elsewhere on this forum I saw a link to a similar article about the USAF being the best air force, but the picture is of a VF-1 Valkyrie :D

I saw that same article. I'm going to assume that the author saw the picture and thought that it was an F-14.

Well, maybe they're using the best fighter aircraft in the world...?

(Yes, I know! I'm British, its a joke, okay!).

The "wrong aircraft" thing - theres a pretty good music video for a song called "Spitfire Bird", which features lots of period footage of Spitfires - but if you look really closely, and don't blink, in a couple of shots theres some Hurricanes...

I appreciate British aircraft just as mush as I do US aircraft. I particularly love the V Bombers!

  7. Mirage and Hayate really got the snot kicked out of them there. Either they are useless at hand to hand (no Jenus genes there) combat or the Windermereans are superior phisically to humans.

It's already been established that Windermereans possess hightened physical abilities. It's the reason why they only have an average life of thirty years.

  8. As far as I can understand JB0, he likes the original concept of Zentradi being swayed by contact with human culture in general, with Minmay acting as a focus of attention.

Then in DYRL, things were changed. Now Minmay was not just an element of human culture - she was singing some specific Protoculture song that triggered something pre-existing in Zentradi.

Actually, she still was an element of human culture. There was a scene where you see a bunch of Zentradi soldiers interacting with a Minmay doll and freaking out when the doll starts singing "My Boyfriend Is A Pilot". Exsodol also mentions in the opening scene of the movie that some soldiers had become unable to fight after receiving strange sound signals from the Macross. Minmay's singing was affecting the Zentradi quite some time before she acquired Do You Remember Love?.

  9. Were the pods really the source of the projections? The projections seemed to all face in one direction and didn't react in any way to where the Delta valks were. My impression was that the source must have been the ship with Walkure onboard (or they were just the product of artistic license).

I was a bit disappointed that when Hayate briefly landed on one of the projections, his valk cast a dark shadow but the projection didn't appear on the valk's surface. I suppose that might be evidence that the valk was the source, but it looked more like it was just too difficult a visual effect for the show to manage.

Actually, at around 12:16 in the episode, you can see Delta launching what I'm thinking are small projector units. They look like magenta-colored lights in the show.
