  1. btw, does anybody know if the accessory-parts are gonna be offered separately?

highly unlikely and stupid to get another set of the DYRL Skull-team just to get them parts.

This has kinda been my feeling since the accessory parts were first announced... I love my 1/60's, but rebuying them for panels and seats? Meh... lol. However, I wouldn't put it pass some MW go-getter creating an "alternative" some day down the line. =)

  2. Hip armor on mine are also pretty solid... took off the dab of earthquake putty I had on the inside, and they actually do click in place pretty well like Graham stated. If anything, the only time they seem to pop off is when the side "thigh" armor on the ball joint right next to the hip armor knocks them off. Otherwise, they hold pretty well. For some reason, the lower right side leg armor on mine seems to be the most prone to flopping off.

As far as the missle hatches go... the hinge for the hatch rises up to allow for the hatch to clear easier, so as long as you don't push them back all the way down, they open and close smoothly and easily without popping off.

I'm no reviewer, but those are my layman observations so far. =)

  3. @Kicker - Do you buy multiples of the same toy for customization projects or...? Because just from the looks of it, you probably could've easily swung those M3 payments just by selling your spares alone! lol... love the room setup. =)

  4. Been going nuts with earthquake putty lately for action figure posing, so I thought I'd try a tiny bit on the inside of the intake/hip armor to keep it on better... voila, problem solved. Not the most elegant solution, but it doesn't affect the paint on the armor or the toy at all, isn't permanent, comes off clean when you're done with it, you can't see it, and keeps me from getting pissed off when handling the toy like I do whenever I touch my 1/48 super stealth valk... I swear I'd throw that thing through a window if it didn't cost so much because of all the stuff that falls off during handling.

  5. Straight shooter vibes out to James aka nlsfc96! My VF-25F Renewal valk landed today, as described and shipped very quickly. Thanks a ton, James! So stoked; super parts are arriving Monday, so I'm all set for my first foray into Macross Frontier mech goodness. :D

  6. Just got into the Frontier mechs recently after watching the series, so I'm totally late to the game on any Macross Frontier toys, missing out on the group buy and the valk itself... BUT, snagged a renewal VF-25F today on the for sale forum, and just now bought the renewal super parts to go with it online (in stock and ready to ship!) for 6000 yen... woot. :D

  7. I found a 1/48 Max and Mira for 8400 Yen each new and also a 1/60 Max for 90,000 yen and 1/60 Mira for 40000 Yen new ( I think they are version 1 because the box has the clear plastic top and not the flip up lid for the 1/60 models). I do not know if these are good prices but I live near Tokyo and have been finding some good Yamato models around here.

Clear plastic top = no bueno. Those are version 1's...

  8. Just wondering (and it's probably been asked or discussed among the myriad posts on this thread already), but will Bandai's run of this toy even be able to satisfy the number of pre-orders being taken? With all the "Hey, this place reopened their pre-orders!" jazz going on, seems like retailers are just putting new ones up on a whim...?

  9. Alright... gave my tiny Banpresto valk a super glue makeover, and it's now one of my favorite toys to fool around with. The 1/100 Regults now have a new home on one of my "blister card" shelves. :)

As far as toys at work goes, it really comes down to the type of industry/company you're with, and the atmosphere. A lot of companies in the bay area actually encourage a lot of personality on the job, so then you end up with something like my cousin's desk below =):

  10. So some of you actually display your macross stuff at work? I've always wanted to do that but not sure how others will take it. I already look younger than my age, don't want my coworkers to think I'm immature too by still playing with what they call "toys".

If your coworkers would look down on you for something like collecting toys, they probably aren't worth concerning yourself with. If what you're into isn't hurting anyone, then they all need to stfu. :D

  11. Maybe get a Hi-metal 1J and get those all grouped together...

As a matter of fact, I'm selling off my hi-metal 1s at the moment, but the whole reason I bought one bitd was to display with the 1/100 pods. In any case, I get what you're saying. I'm hoping the various 1/60 and 1/48 regult projects that other MW guys are working take off enough for them to be purchaseable some day. The 1/48 size pod would be EPIC to have... =) peace.

  12. Recently when moving my detolfs around in the house, I swear I handled each toy like they were coated in uranium... thankfully no disheartening crunching sounds occurred. My 1/48 Stealth recently pulled a suicide self-crunch attempt in fighter mode in my case that I heard from across the house; it's on time out in battroid mode from now on because of that. Seriously, I love that valk, but its the most damn frustrating thing to handle in my display by far. I've come really close to super gluing the super parts and missiles to that bastard permanently a few times... lol

  13. Thanks for the recommendations everyone.. :)

@Mommar: I actually arranged the index in columns with the loose concept of series/movie they appeared in, then top to bottom in a loose "order flown by Hikaru" motif... lol. Everything else (VT-1, VE-1, Virgin Road) was just sort of thrown on there. I wanted to avoid making the index related to the valks' physical position in the display just because I end up having to move stuff around all the time.

@DarrinG: Nowhere else to put the pods right now, but despite their scale, I like these little vinyl suckers! haha... at least until someone steps up with a proper 1/60 scale pod. They'll be out eventually once I free up some shelf space outside the display.

One more close up of the M&M's for TGIF purposes =)

  14. As I said, I buy and collect the TV series, so I must not mind it too much.

But as I also said - these are military weapons, bright white is not only unrealistic, it borders on dorky...

It was the 80's man... everything was brighter back then. lol
