  1. Yeah, my parents would have said no for sure. Well, my mom. My dad would have bought me one. He bought me my first valkyrie back in the day. It was the Jetfire repaint of the old VF-1S. Still one of my favorite shopping moments ever with my dad. I asked him for it, and after he bought it, he asked, "Are you SURE you want this one?" I said yes, and he then promptly threw the store receipt in the garbage and said, "Don't tell your mom how much it was." B))

Awesome... my dad would act like a hard ass at the store, but he'd usually be the one to throw down on my new robots too. I think dads in general can just relate to collecting hobbies more than moms can.

  2. I would feel really bad if I was still a kid that loved this (probably more passionately than us old folgies) and can't afford it.

Geezus... can you imagine kids trying to convince their parents to buy them these toys for Christmas? lol.... It's crazy to think that a lot of the valks in my collection are each worth an Xbox Elite Kinect bundle. Man... wtf did I get myself into by starting to collect these things. haha

  3. All the valks I paid a higher price for were either discontinued or very rare; that helped tons to justify paying a premium for them. I'm coming up empty for excuses to myself to pay $230 + for a brand new release... my usual "but I might never get the opportunity!" rationale just isn't kicking in.

  4. There's just too many other things I'd rather have than this.

Kinda the same boat... I pre-ordered a 171 before the 25G was announced, pre-ordered the 25G with NY, and now I'm planning to sell the 171 off as soon as it arrives. Nice valk and all, but ultimately all Alto does in it is get shot down anyways. -_-

  5. Finally snapped a pic capturing the whole reason I bought a Durandal (well, main reason): to put it next my Miriya VF-1J. :D If only the Durandal was flown by a hot female pilot ace instead of a dude that looks like a chick. I guess I can always imagine Sheryl as an ace pilot of the YF-29... lol.

  6. Hmmm... My VF-25F is suffering from the same loose hips as the YF-29. :(

Mine was starting to have the same issue, so I gave it the glue treatment. Looseness is unfortunately inevitable with all the ball/friction joints on these Bandai valks.

This clip should help; quality is kinda funky, but you get the general idea of how to deal with the loose joint issue. When fixing the looseness on VF-25 hips, I didn't bother disassembling them. Just a dab on the outer portion of the ball joint and working it around seemed to work fine:

  7. There's a whole thread about it and I think the shi*t talking was valid in that case. I don't recall anyone shooting down Nippon Yasan (don't feel like going through whole thread right now)...just expressing doubt that they can keep that preorder window open for so long.

There were a few shots towards Nippon Yasan, but whatever... ishop2go deserves the feedback they got for sure. I think I'm just over all the panic mode speculation going on right now. I've got no beef with you preferring HLJ because they would've been a first choice for me too if I didn't need my sleep. ^_^

  8. What's lame about it? I happen to like HLJ and I've never had any problems with them so I throw them my business whenever I can. What's it to you that I don't want to shop at some other place? Those other guys may be really nice and dandy chaps but I haven't been shopping with them for the past 10 or so years.

Dude, chill out, because I wasn't talking about folks just "preferring" to shop at one place over another. I was talking about folks that express their mistrust negatively towards reliable retailers (i.e. talk sh*t about them) despite never having even dealt with them before just because they kept their preorder window open slightly longer than other stores. I've got love for HLJ as much as anyone, but I think it's lame that people are shooting down stores like Nippon Yasan who have great service and aren't charging anyone up front for preorders. If that wasn't you, then calm down and make sure to really read stuff before you take it upon yourself to get offended ffs. Sheesh.

  9. Love all these new collection pics! Very nice job folks... open displays are nice, but I can't imagine ever putting any Mac F valks outside my detolfs out of fear of having to dust those pointy pain in the ass things of beauty. lol

  10. If otherwise satisfactory retailers who aren't charging you up front can't fill orders, that's no one but Bandai's fault because of their shite production numbers. Saying you don't trust these guys or those guys despite the fact that their track records are otherwise pretty good outside of these newer Bandai valks seems like an unfair rush to judgement. Obviously some retailers have longer track records, but declaring you won't order from someone else because you "think" they won't get you your toy is lame unless you personally have dealt with them before and they f*cked you over.

  11. Have you seriously been up every few hours every night for the past week or two? That's messed up. I wonder how many more people are doing this? I understand doing things on principle, and not overpaying on a preorder, but don't you guys like sleep? Is there a max you are willing to pay for one of these if you don't get it through HLJ? I'd have gone nuts by now if I couldn't sleep. I got back from the UK last week and my sleep pattern has been off every day and it drives me nuts.

Reading this thread lately has me thinking the exact same thing... the pre-order I made through Nippon Yasan was for $192 and a bit before shipping, which is around $24 or so above HLJ. Nippon Yasan has come through for me on every order I've made with them so far, so I trust they'll do the best they can to fill their orders when the time comes (and if they can't, I place that blame on Bandai directly). $24, a pre-order in, no payment up front, no worries... the fact that folks passed on it when it was open because it wasn't exactly at msrp seemed odd to me, but yay for principles I guess.

  12. That's really sad then. You'd think re-issuing the strike packs would be free money for Yamato, since all the work is done. I'm glad I sprung for the Max and Kakizaki bundles now.

Maybe the production number issues Bandai seems to be dealing with are coming from the factory level.

With the exception of the very first standalone super/strike parts set I bought, every other set I acquired was a "buy the bundle, sell the valk" move. It's really the only way to do it nowadays.

  13. Ugh... headache from recalling some of those kanji characters, but in short, they don't "foresee" any plans on producing that particular long sold out item. The Google translation was very literal; the "not going without feeling" part is a literal translation of the "kanji nashi desu" at the end of their reply, which obviously makes no sense in English. lol

  14. Calling a figure that was released 2 weeks ago, and that is selling for a 20% + mark up, a shelf-warmer, sounds so absurd to me! What do you call those VF-1s at HLJ that go on sale time after time and never shift?!?

If you weren't jumping into the dialogue out of context, you might realize that I asked the question you quoted because it sounded absurd to me too. All up in the kool-aid and don't even know the flavor... :)

  15. @monster - honestly, I bought the 29 as an impulse buy after preordering a 25G because I kept thinking about how sick they'd look next to my red and blue Max and Miriya vf-1j's. It's definitely grown on me since I took it out of the box. :)

  16. While it was small in scale, no doubt, far too many made it to specialty stores (Amazon prices dropped from 35000yen to 20000 overnight) for this to just be some spares that Bandai had lying around.

Man, don't spit out your coffee! lol... so, it was enough of a run to make the 29 somewhat of a shelfwarmer in the Japan market, yet not fill preorders internationally? Weird strategy.
