  1. I wouldn't mind about the design, as long as sheryl and ranka are the pilots, which unfortunately probably will not.
  2. Deculture! Love the new wing tip, even without the fuel/missile pod anymore. And that paint looks intimidating, cool.
  3. SV-52? can't wait to see that. VF-19ACTIVE, old VF-1, i think i fell in love with this macross the ride.
  4. Didn't Nora's SV-51 lost one of it's arm in episode 2? But still able to kick shin in the butt and avoid Roy's barrage and escaped. Don't know if that's valid enough as a reason, but SV-51 agility seems fine there.
  5. Actually that design looks similar to the original manga, compared to the CG design from the 2 previous movies. Not expecting much, but still looking forward to it.
  6. And the small thrusters around the aircraft for maneuver in space, i believe it needs fuel directly as propellant, besides for the reaction in main engines as well. It's not needed in atmospheric flight, that's why a VF burns fuel much quicker in space.
  7. That is an amazing pic, perhaps VF-25 varian is more appropriate, like VF-25XZ err.. or whatever cool names you can come up with.
  8. SV-51 and VF-0 both can launch their missiles in battroid mode, in fact VF-0 wing can not be swept back as long as there are missiles still remain on the wing hardpoints, the only difference is SV-51 missiles is internal in it's fuel/missile pod while VF-0's is hanging on the hardpoints. According to mecha manual SV-51 can not launch the ones on external hardpoints while in batroid mode because the wing is folded, only the ones in the pod. Just watch again episode 1 near the end. I don't know about increasing maneuverability though, perhaps for airbrakes or hovering? EDIT: Wait, i was wrong, SV-51 can extend it's wing in batrroid mode, i don't see why it can not shoot it's external hardpoints in that condition.
  9. Maybe the battle area is huge that they simply flying around through different time zones? especially the fight between guld and X-9, they even reached the stratosphere. But then again before the end credit it was sunrise, if it started from sunset, then they were fighting for almost like, 10-12 hours? They deserve the title for the most bad-ass pilots ever if it's true.
  10. And they do not use weapons in the race, unless i am wrong. Love to see VF-1 still exist even after 50 years!^^
  11. I thought it is a general rule in air combat, always stays above your enemy. Wonder if that is the reason for moving the head position from below the belly to the back in fighter mode, from VF-1 to 19 and so on. It is simply my wild imagination, i apologize if it is not.
  12. Shin Kudo, reminds me of myself, and a true rookie, one of the very first pilots ever flown a VF. But for skills, that would be Milia and Max.
  13. Suddenly "songbird" become one of my most favorite song in macross. Deculture!
  14. "Love stick" was a bad choice of name, sorry for that, and it doesn't resembles dna at all. I only remember the one sara was making, not the others. If history does repeat itself, then perhaps someday human will suffer the same fate as protoculture, war between colonies throughout the galaxy, this time using valkyries with cyborg or genetic engineered pilots, or any kind of new weapons comes to mind.
  15. There is another myth i remember that perhaps point to dna manipulation or cross-breeding, the "love stick" maya and shin is making in episode 1, she says you make the spears by imagining that you are mixing the ocean and wind, fish human and bird human, heaven and earth? How the stick resembles dna, and how they use that stick in their culture to confess love. Just a thought.
  16. I also like how they explain protoculture through myth and legends in macross zero, and what about the part of the story where it says roy-waka cut roy kanu tail and then it grew legs(don't remember exactly the words), perhaps some kind of dna manipulation? I'm still guessing either protoculture manipulate the dna of local life and turn it into humans, or the protoculture itself were cross breeding with the already modern human specifically in mayan island. Or it has nothing to do with anything at all.
  17. Wow, now i know how come alto and the others did not die inside VF-25. Makes sense now.
  18. Perhaps the valkyrie acts as an amplifier and speakers since basara already playing guitar inside the cockpit. No need for the robot to have a guitar too. I just noticed basara wearing that glasses looks like john lennon. ~_~
  19. I thought the "limiter-off" mode in YF-21 has something to do with releasing maximum agility and speed of the aircraft? which unfortunately exceed the ability for human pilot to withstand the G force, as we all can see what happened to Guld in the process. All this time the limiter is on so human pilot would not die in it.
  20. I always thought transforming mecha is already an existing technology since the time of protoculture, they had fought against their own giants enemy way longer than human. For worst moment, i feels something is missing in macross f which once existed in SDF tv series, i don't feel the intense during the battle scenes like in SDF, zero or plus when watching F. But i still love the songs.
  21. "Ai wa nagareru" and "Ai oboeteimasu ka", i can never separate those songs with the scenes on each film. Love songs in the middle of space war is what macross is all about, at least for me.
  22. I also miss the traditional hand drawn animation in anime mechas, which quite rare these days. No matter how good CGI is, there are some things that can not be achieved unless it is hand drawn, i can not explain it though. Time has change, and japan is not in the 90's anymore. Besides CGI is getting cheaper.
  23. Does thrust vector can actually help a VF turning around in space? i played a macross PS2 game and when in space the VF-1 is using thrusters on the tip of each wing to do a roll besides using the vector thrust itself. So i think the vector thrust is not really effective in space without the help of thrusters on the nose maybe? to turn the VF up/down and yaw left/right. CMIIW
  24. Never had any macross magazines or artbooks either, only DVDs. T_T Thanks for the info.
  25. It could be, so that means in the end it is all about capitalism is it not? which is a natural thing to be. Preserving humanity and its culture are just politics after all. But i still can not stop thinking that all the private organizations that rides along the fleet are unable to make any revenues until they find a habitable planet which then they can colonize and exploit. The longer the journey, the bigger the expenses and the risks would be. Just like when an oil company surveying for oil deposit, lots of expenses but without any income. My post seems to become off topic so i will stop here.
