I am not 100% sure if this was my first publication purchased from Hobby Search...at least not in recent memory.....
I had placed an order for the Figure King Issue 314, which had a main focus on the 30th Anniversary of M7.....
Anyways, I normally purchase from AJ due to the speed of their shipments, but this time the price for this specific "mook" was lower at Hobby Search so just ordered from them.....
The magazine was shipped in a box and the magazine was packed into a plastic bag....for packaging materials, Hobby Search used various layers of paper....it was mainly used to keep the mook from moving around the box during shipping....it succeeded in this task and my Figure King arived in mint condition.....I would have no issues using them again for books which I had no specific interest in receiving as quickly as possible....for that I have found no substitute for AJ express shipping....

Figure King #314.....Issue contains a retrospective on "all things" Macross 7 to commemorate it's 30th Anniversary....covers the various M7 TV and OVA shows, plus some of the books, toys and music produced for the M7 shows....along with some lineart and other character art plus interviews with it's creators.....a nice pick up if you can find it used, not a "must buy" as much of what is covered has been covered in more detail in several other M7 published artbooks....

All Macross toys from Bandai are made in China.....what do the Chinese pay for WWM?

...but it could become a situation where those retailers stop carrying Macross items because they have to sell them at a loss...and then we're right back to PO Madness for everything...
And for that, we would only have BW to blame this time around....

Very impressive paint job, but it reminds me how spindly standard VF's are these days....

This is why I still prefer to deal with PO Madness, plus I get items 3-4 months sooner. But now when I'm dealing with the Madness, I'm always thinking, "if I can't get it tonight, I know I can get it through [insert domestic store of choice here] with a convenience markup."
At some point I will stop dealing with the Madness and just throw money at the situation so I can have a good night's sleep.
I think at some point soon, the only advantage will be getting the item much quicker pre-ordering straight from Japan.....hopefully, that may also go away as well at some point....as for the prices, I believe the last couple of releases actually got to a point where the prices either were the same or actually less.....patience, of course, is the determining factor when trying to get non-Japan retailer purchases at equal or lower prices...

I checked some numbers for 1 HMR VF-19 Fire Valkyrie:
Nin-Nin-Game about $80
Hobby Genki about $82
Anime Export about $94
HLJ about $85
Amiami about $92
CD Japan about $85
Yoyakunow about $98
Estimated shipping (DHL, Fedex, UPS, Registered Air) $25
Estimated shipping through Surface would be cheaper.
BBTS $140
My state tax $13
Shipping $4
The cheapest price shipped for 1 HMR VF-19 Fire Valkyrie from those Japanese stores is about $105. The highest price shipped is about $123. BBTS shipped in my state is $157.
This is good data....I will add this to the "first" page of the Macross PO thread for the Fire Valk post so it is easy to find....maybe this can be done going forward on future releases...
*edit* added "POST PO NIGHT PRICING DATA with Approximate Shipping Costs"

The HMR VF-19 Fire Valkyrie is currently sold out at Hobby Genki and Nin-Nin-Game. Both stores had it for the cheapest price and also protect items very well when shipped.
Currently sold out at Hobby Search, HLJ, and CD Japan too.
With these WWM....need to start posting the prices and approximate international shipping....that way we can figure out what to pay (what is a fair price) once it releases outside of Japan...

I find it interesting because there never was any interview with anyone within Bandai before for our Macross toys......
Yeah...it's been a while...wonder what happened with Julian Oreska...seems he is still with Bandai, but he may have moved onto other things within the company...

I'm so hoping this gets released soon and doesn't take the almost 5 years of teasing that the Bandai YF-21 has put us through.
HMR Destroid Collectors: 5 years, eh? That was quick by Bandai's standards!
Lost track....is it now 8 years or 9 years since these were teased by Bandai'd?

I'll try it out with the HM, Fighter pose and all.
Looking forward to this....might be time to move onto a "Macross 7 30th Anniversary Pictorial Celebration Through Diorama and Photoshop" thread!...

Hopefully Bandai milks this mold for more than just the "obligatory" Emerald Force -19's...

Wait.... is Basara's VF-19 a WWM release?
So it will likely be available on Amazon US for pre-order in like 2 weeks?
Yes.....so far...every non-SDFM or non-DYRL release has automatically been a WWM release...
