I just found out today that there was preorders for the VF-19 Kai, so obviously i missed out on a preorder, and this is a big one for me as need in my collection (was sad i had to sell my 1/60th, but needed to downsize, and 1/100 is the perfect scale for me)

    Need recommendations.

Wait for Mandarake?  Wait for 1 month before release and check in every day with CD Japan and HLJ and Amiami?

    Thanks in advance.

If you do not care waiting until after it's released outside of Japan, you can probably get a discount on it come Xmas time later this year.....outside of Japan, I doubt this particular VF has enough recognition and demand to maintain current US retail pricing....guessing it will dip below 100 USD soon after domestic release....

So, there is no chance of seeing this one aftermarket at a reasonable price, right?

It all depends on how badly US fans want it....like the DX Mechanics VF-1S...there were 2 waves.....if you waited until the second wave, you definitely paid less than those who "panic" bought when it was first released....

Another example would be the "blue" Max VF-0S.......it was not a "VF-1" from SDFM/Robotech and it was not in "canon" colors....it more or less has not gained much re-sale "value" since its original release....

Personally, I think it will not go beyond the 50K JPY range...may even drop below that after the hype clears.....it has a lot of stuff going against it....mainly the non-canon looks...it may not be desireable enough to command much demand, thus keeping the aftermarket price low....time will tell

I just checked the page and Bandai changed the sales region to just Japan (Asia and US were removed as options) and it looks like you can only buy it in person at the Tamashii stores in Tokyo and Osaka.

I had thought that it could be PO'd in advance if you were a Tamashii Club member between 4-18 to 4-24....then a more "general" sale between 5-10 to 5-24....interesting

  4. Ultimately....the colors should just have a subtle or limited inclusion of their "significant other's" ride....like Max's VF-1J has red stripes on the legs....and Milia has blue stripes on her -1J...

    image.png.fcfc836f43e41c8d327d8b9445d170ef.png

The KC GBP M&M ignore this and are just....Max is blue and Milia is red

On the Toynami GBP...they could have just painted the black stripes on the leg armor blue for Milia and red for Max and it would have been ok...but yeah...still much better than the KC versions....they must have had a lot of that blue-grey paint left over!

  5. Was anyone able to grab a PO via a proxy or other means?

I guess for US market....this may be available via the NYC Tamashii store....so unless you are close to NY you're still going to have to pay a "finder's fee"....

So far I only see Luna offering it and they have already increased the price for one....lol

The ones listed on eBay may be just as bad or worse....

I do not have access to the sales page....is it still up for PO?

    Bandai Micro Macross VF-17S.

Almost pulled trigger a few times on one of these over the years, but finally did recently.

Usually don’t like toys in sealed blisters, because at this stage I'm always reluctant to destroy packagings. Don’t think I will open this, so will display it as it is and it’s a good thing the blister is still clear & never / hardly yellowed considering its age.

You have the others or was just interested in the VF-17S?

I wonder if for Max's GBP, would it have been better if they did something like what Bandai shown at TN2020?

    Of course...which was basically this...

Again....not sure what KC defines as "extensive research"....but they definitely dropped the ball on this M&M GBP Set....can't say I'm all that surprised though...

Dollars to donuts it's the exact same voice he used for Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.

Eh, I'll still see it when it's available for streaming.  The first two were reasonably fun.

I still have 2 kids within the targeted demographic for these Sonic movies.....it'll be a $5 matinee for us!  They are goofy fun, so not complaining...

Bandai just proved to us that they are very much capable of not destroying a beautiful valk with excessive tampo, but they choose to do it anyway (Angel Birds, YF-21, etc.).

I don't mind "excessive" tampo...it's the weird, non-canon, and "creative license" type of tampo that I can do without...Tenjin is arguably the best VF illustrator out there, but Bandai'd should just let him illustrate the boxart and not ask for him to make up stuff for their DX line's tampo designs....it doesn't give the DX's more "street cred"....it takes it away...lol

We shall allow a bit of overflow from those kooky Model Kit guys here into this Macross only thread.

Ignore the 1970s brown shag storage room floor carpeting, here is the Imai variable 1/72 squadron I picked up on YJ a couple months ago.
Cannon Fodder had some fin damage on transport.

I always loved this pic from the super modeling manual...now i can create it too
    image.png.4a279d41773bfc79615fe0a8dc285f58.png

Now you can leave all those Imai variable 1/72 Macross kits brand new in the box and really have a reason to never actually build any of them!

    :good:

Now that you mentioned it I guess I'm not. Replaced the light blue with white would make it look better.

Actually just watched the video that was posted regarding this release.....thought it was comical that they claimed to have done "extensive research" on the colors for Max and Milia's GBP armor....seriously?  Maybe the Chinese Communst Party blocked all access to Nichimo kit illustrations!

I know, I know....the Nichimo kits are not Macross canon...but I guess if they were interested in releasing a decent M&M GBP set, they should have just gone with those color combos....oh well, money saved....

Oh and another thing!.....release the dang Hikaru GBP set before expecting your "loyal" fans to hand over more PO cash on stuff...the practice is getting old....(also looking at M&M "Arcade" set sitting on the background shelf)....

    Do Models count?

Yes...this is a "catch all" thread to post about all the Macross Merch  you have recently acquired....at least IMO, that should be the spirit of this thread...

Generally, these items are most likely unused, boxed, bagged, etc....the main thing is to try not to cross-post between this thread and the various "display" threads....

Or maybe the mods can simply combine the "display" threads into one mega thread...or retire the existing display threads and inaugurate a new one....

Should we be worried(?) when he says of the HG kits:

In the past, plastic models were also tackled as complete transformations, but I think the decision to abandon them and incorporate replacement transformations was wonderful. As long as it is a plastic model, the element of "wanting to assemble as many aircraft as you want" is an important factor. By doing so, it is possible to distinguish it from DX Chogokin. It was also an opportunity for me to think that if it is possible to increase mobility to this level, I should be able to do it so far for the next aircraft I will work on.

    Nah.....he starts his response with:

"As long as it is a plastic model..."
