  1. SDFM: Angel Platoon - Aerial Acrobats of Death....OVA Coming Soon!
  2. Thanks!...I knew if anyone had some info on this topic it would be you....lol Official or not...works for me...it makes sense they would have gotten involved... So many great Macross side-stories in those publications...
  3. That would be an epic Easter egg!
  4. I would imagine that the attack on South Ataria (start of Space War I) became an instant all hands on deck situation...if the ground crews equipped a VF-1D with a live fire gunpod, as seen on the first episode....I am sure the Angel Birds were part of the first attack as well....thus getting equipped with gunpods and probably missiles too! Maybe @Seto Kaibahas some info regarding this from the available literature?
  5. Maybe you are thinking of the credit card sized art cards they came packed with?
  6. yes, the rough concept drawing from Miyatake was from HJ Vintage Vol.4.... ...Artmic based their illustrations seemingly off of the lineart....so more static poses
  7. The other Takatoku Tomahawk items.... And the only Takatoku branded Tomahawk release not to feature Suzuki's illustrations...oddly enough it seems heavily influenced by Takani's "green" Tomahawk illustration... In fact....several do....VF-1J Battroid...GBP-1J....lol Not sure who this illustrator was...but an original art from this set of illustrations recently sold for a princely sum recently...
  8. No variant as far as I know...but can't rule it out I suppose... Same color used for the Tomahawk included in the 4-pack... In both of these Takatoku vinyl releases, as well as the conversion kit....the illustration used in the packaging art is the "cannon" color version established by Suzuki's Tomahawk illustration...so it would be interesting to know which one came first? The idea that Takatoku's role and influence as a major sponsor seems plausible....especially since it seems that they went with Artmic's (Suzuki's) Macross illustrations exclusively for their Macross product lineup boxart....
  9. Takatoku seemed to have gotten the memo regarding the Tomahawk colors....lots of info on release dates for the big ticket items...but wonder when they released their lower priced vinyl items?
  10. Ultra Rare!!!!!!! Released during 3 days at the end of the 1985 final production run......came with incorrect Armor, Valk, and box...some claim that a few actually also came with incorrect instructions and decals....get it now!!!! https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h1078653735
  11. Guessing much like the "VF-1C"...The kits were already molded or were too far in the production line process...the VF-1C head on the Gerwalk kit and molded in Tan for the Tomahawk...LOL In terms of "showdown"....my first impressions of Macross "art" came in the form of the boxart for the toys.....being a toy guy more so than a kit guy....my bias leans towards Suzuki...
  12. Disney has to keep Tron in the pop-culture consciousness....has to keep the steady stream of "guests" coming into their parks and shelling out big money to experience their new ride at WDW! https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/magic-kingdom/tron-lightcycle-run/
  13. Thumbing through the HJ Mechanics 14 book...shouldn't this shot have been created using a VF-1S?...I assume it is depicting a scene from the dogfight between Max and Milia from DYRL...sh9000 would not have made such a "rookie" mistake...LOL
  14. Masami Watanabe...the prolific Macross illustrator no one knows about....IMO the the 3rd member of the three greats of old school Macross illustrators...Takani, Suzuki, and Watanabe....we'll probably never get a Collected Works book filled with his art though...but I'll hold on to a fool's hope that someday we might...
  15. At this point I feel we are closer to completing a decent set of TV VFs without major mold work...so my vote is for M&M Super combo sets, a TV Kakizaki...and TV CF -1A... Although a DYRL set with the remainder of Skull Squadron (with or without Max's -1S) and a SuperO and Elint would make it more epic imo...but it would require more work to complete due to the differences between the VF-1, VE-1 and VT-1....but who knows....we are talking about the company who went all in with a Monster HMR and still has us waiting 7 years since the original tease for the Tomahawk and Phalanx!
  16. If you buy from non-Japanese retailers...you should be covered by whatever their policies are on the items they sell...but best to just ask whichever retailer you are doing business with...
  17. Nice acquisition....this one gets ignored because of the 1/3000 "Big Macross".... The 1/6300 SDF-1 was my first official collectible Takatoku Toys' Macross Collection....have about 4 now.... There are two variants of this toy...a grey and a white "foot" version....not sure which one is rarer or came first...which variant was this one?
  18. Looking forward to this....finally something featuring SDFM for SDFM's 40th...better late than never I suppose...
  19. Valk/pose by @sh9000
  20. LOL...semantics....in terms of in-universe, both are non-standard markings that are placed onto a mecha or VF to "personalize" it...so technically same thing as nose art or tail art used in the Macross universe and in real-world settings
  21. "Itasha" has been around in Macross from the beginning....the subject matter and imagery was just way cooler...lol
  22. Pretty sure that is just a US term....I have always referred to them as combo sets...both Super and the GBP sets... I'll take a look at the Takatoku catalogs and see if there is any mention....you can probably also see what they are referred to in some of the mooks
  23. Chrome and/or Transparent versions!
