  1. I was wondering what caused HL2 to get bumped into November... here I was thinking that all the FPS releases slated for October were making them rethink their "market strategy". Edit: Actually now that I went looking it seems everyone has delayed their new FPS games into late 4th Quarter or early 2004... man, there went my christmas! <_<
  2. My interest in Halo is mainly the multiplayer mode so I and my fellows in the new office can duke it out in a new game (vietcong and jedi outcast are way old now)... but I'm also interested in the single player game for myself at home when I'm bored (like right now when there is no Half Life 2 or Doom 3). I really want HL2, but I'm hoping Halo keeps me occupied for a few months until it shows up.
  3. My guess would be that the audio guy didn't want people and their housepets to go ape when watching it on a high def system. A high pitched background whine on my 6.1 digital system at home would drive me up a wall.
  4. We should have no issues running the game... my interest is in how it plays. Every review I've read says it is a plain straight up port with no added anything except for multiplayer... which is the only thing that inerests me anyway. On the other note, has anyone seen this thing on shelves yet? The local Best Buy said they would have it in store wednesday and I went in only to be greeted with an empty slot.
  5. The stores in my neck of the woods are just not getting this in and I'm debating buying it for the office to play some multiplayer. Does anyone have it yet? Hows the translation and the multiplayer?
  6. Heck, I'd go as far saying that every battroid, valkyrie or unit in Macross is pretty loud. If you've ever been around any mechanized military equipment you know that "quiet" is not a descriptive word usually given to them.
  7. Any time you have enough of the same toy to fit them... by squads... into little plastic tupperware higgins boats no less, you officially have an army. Clear the ramp! Thirty seconds! My God be with ya! Left side stick and the right stick! Move fast and clear those murder holes!
  8. Hey when is SDC: Southern Cross supposed to come out anyway? It's this month isn't it?
  9. It's been a while since I last saw Aliens... all I remembered was that VP70 Lt. Doorknob had.
  10. Goreman and Vasquez took a few Aliens down with antiquated H&K VP70 pistols so I would think they would work on the aliens... and Danny Glover sure as hell did a ton of damage to that predator with that XM177 and Desert Eagle... I'd say that today's guns would be very effective against unarmored soft targets like giant bugs and loin cloth wearing, dread-locked hunters.
  11. Judging how well the colonial marines did against the aliens in the second movie... what was their track record again?... oh yeah, they got their asses handed to them in every firefight... Ripley, a civilian non-com, was the only one who could face them with a rifle and not get killed or wounded. Now lets look at the other side of the coin, the predator. Almost an entire team of merc special forces , half of the super neato metro police department and an entire special government task force got pasted by two predators. The way I see it the humans are going to do most, if not all, of the dying in A vs. P. Sure one or two of them may get off a few lucky shots with an M4A1 or a pistol... then again from the looks of the cast and the locale chances are this is going to be another one of those movies where "this is a research station that has no weapons and no way to leave" situations. I HATE those situations don't you? You'd think one freaking person on the security squad would at least have a hould-out pistol or something! Come on! This is America!... well, Antarctica really... who has all the guns already?
  12. I understand Vostok's points. I also hang around some other message boards that do things like that. The boards I hang around though offer perks to the vendors for their "contributions" like letting them list unlimited for sale ads, allowing them to have Boldface titles in their posts for sale and giving them the custom member titles of "Vendor". In the long run it basically just means the people are paying for a "rep", i.e. someone sees the word "Vendor" in their member level and automatically assumes they are on the level... after all, someone who is registered with the admins as a vendor must be an upright guy, right? MW is still too small for a feature like this to work effectively IMHO. Most of the true vendors on this board are well known anyway and have their own websites already... and why pay for a "title" when they can just put a link to their site in their sig?
  13. Well then, time to be political about this: This movie is going to SUCK ASS so bad that... I'm going to see it! It will blow to no end... while I watch it in the theater! I just might enjoy this movie... as it stinks up the screen! Seriously though, it's ALIENS! and PREDATORS! and people! Duking it out! in Antarctica(?)! Sure a lot can go wrong but let's hope at least a few things go right. At least the Crypt Keeper... I mean... Sigourney Weaver isn't in this one.
  14. If I say I kinda want to see this movie, does that mean that one side or the other will lynch me?
  15. And it's Matt DAMON... Damien is the scary satan kid from The Omen movies... ... oh wait... I like your version better...
  16. The three mounds are from SDC: Southern Cross. They are the ruins of the original Zor culture on the planet Glorie. Check Lebhed's protoculture site for more info.
  17. That's the great thing! She's never home! I don't get to play with her as much as I want! Yikes... that came out very "Arnold" of me.
  18. I'm a sensationalist. I love things full on, top speed, all at once. Couple that with my almost buddhist feelings about personal posessions and it makes for quick "turnovers" of things. I'm only attached to like five things I own... everything else is a heat of the moment posession that will be kicked to the curb when I'm done with it. I know I'm bad about things like that... but I figure it "spreads the love". I'm not a college student any more and money is usually never a roadblock to me... which means I buy too much, revel in it for a while and cut it loose... in all actually I'm basically renting these things for an extended period of time! When I sell things I usually recoup 50% if not more of the ticket. Money has made me evil. More please.
  19. I tend to oversaturate myself with things, and Mospeada was one of them. I watched it like every day for months... I just burned out on it really fast. Usually I have neat toys to buy to make me give things more time but Toynami is just dragging their feet on the new Legioss toys so much my interest in Mospeada peaked and seemingly went away overnight. I'm bad like that...
  20. Does anyone else remember the quote from Shirow in the first Intron Depot art book when he was talking about drawing the "sex" pannel from GITS? He made some comment like: "I really didn't want to put a guy in there, because then I'd have to draw some guy's naked butt..." Makes me think that Shirow is more or less in love with the female form and he just likes drawing it in increasing levels of nudity and perversion. Artists are like drug addicts, once you start working at something you really like the next one has to be better... if you look at Shirow's track record in his manga he has been slowly creeping up his level of "kinky" in his works. The man likes his kinky stuff... more power to him.
  21. I am king of plug! All your base are belong to me! (AKA Shameless plug) I have the ADV set on eBay now, used bit good as new: HERE It's only at $30 right now and ends on Saturday... I'm not sure if any snipers are watching it as I have only received one email inquiry about it so far. It could go for cheap if anyone is interested. I'm a capitalist pig aren't I?
  22. Waaaaaaarriors! Come out and plaaaaaaaaay-yaaaaaaaaay! Seriously though... You still have to respect the way the fans are at least trying to sew together all the unexplained things that the Robotech writing staff were just to lazy to attempt. You'd think in the current fanboy climate that someone over at HG would at least go back and clean up a lot of the loose ends to give nice "fanboy approved" background to a lot of their stuff. Like it or hate it at least that guy put forth the effort and you have to respect that, it's not like he's spamming the board with "Robotech Rulz!".
  23. In all honesty the Scarface Collector's Edition pack is a total waste of money, all you really get is the normal release of the DVD with a bunch of extra paper and cardboard stuff among a few other things. But I'm a sucker for the big beautiful box... I work in package design and marketing and I eat this super collector stuff up. I buy them more for the packaging than what is in them. I'm weird, huh? Allthough I would have rather had the set come with a mini plastic M16 or a little plastic globe that says "The World is Yours!" than the money clip... the money clip is kind of tacky and does not really "support" the movie other than to be another piece of useless flash with the word "Scarface" on it. I think they are playing to the wanna be "gangsta" collector with this set more than the true fans of the movie. But the cards inside are nice!
  24. With the revealations of all the evidence and the seeming lack of anyone before 1994 stating DYRL's status I will agree with this. Technically we are both right and in a sense we always were in this debate. The void of classification from the creators allows both "it was not a movie within a movie before 1994 because no one specifically said it was" and the "it is a movie within a movie before 1994 because no one specifically said it wasn't" to be sort of true no matter what their intentions where. I am willing to put this debate to rest with the mutual agreement that neither of us really knows what was intended between 1984 and 1994 and the odds of us finding it are slim without tracking down Kawamori himself and sitting on him til he answers. In light of these facts presented I think this "gap" allows us both to be "right", meaning end of argument for now until more information from the time frame before 1994 can be found. I'm still getting those liner notes translated and will post them, maybee in a new thread as I'm still interested in what they say.
