The Galaxy is a bit behind the Frontier, and the Megaroad-01 went nowhere near the galactic core. Kawamori is rewriting what little we know about the imigration fleets. I don't know is NUNS was aware of the threat, but the SMS and certain parties aboard the Frontier certainly were.

BTW, I do believe it was Graham who said the purple VF-25 in the trailer was probably just a placeholder. He proved to be right, those same scenes in the first episode featured the armored "Skull 001".

With what we've seen in Macross recently, that's totally possible, but right now I am going on the assumption that she's just a kawaii anime girl.

Defintely the Macross 6. Was hell finding the right frame, it exits the frame on the right hand side pretty quickly. I'll see if I can grab a screen shot. Edit: No go with WMP, and VLC doesn't like the HD raw video. But its there. Directly above it is the 7, and above it the 9.

BTW, don't go by anything you read in the bad sub. There is a far surperior one out now, and things are very different. And there is info about the characters and their relationships on MW's Macross F page. As far as the Macross 8 goes, I'm pretty sure that's a 6 and not an 8, but I'll take another look.

Both the President and Ozma say something to the effect of, "they're here". Watching the new subs, its pretty clear the code "Victor 3" to the SMS was specifically refering to these SM. They knew they were out there. And the SMS is a "private" organization with the latest, state of the art fighters and weaponry... there is much more to this. Early in the episode, when the Frontier is first introduced, its stated that the Frontier "was continuing its journey toward the center of the galaxy". Makes me wonder what is there, and I suspect, from the reaction of the President and the SMS that perhaps they didn't expect to run into these SM that far out from the galactic core.

That's what's on the fighters, Zin, but the logo on the uniforms is clearly different. Hell, not only is it different, its reversed. And its consistently drawn that way on all the uniforms. We could be wrong, we won't really know for sure until the series is out and we some really good static images of the insignia. And you're still wrong about the timeline thing, but that's ok. When Keith and I both agree on the same thing, you can take it as fact. Plus, its the reasonable conclusion to make.

The Shinsen subs are much better. The names they use are a bit off from what we know, though, and there are a few spots I'm not sure they got it right. But its still head and shoulders about the first release.

The torrent for the special has been up on TT for 2 days, but it leads to a dead link when you try to download.

If Ridley had done Dune, Lynch would have done Jedi. How different things would be.

I get the feeling that Ranka is meant to be the singing star of this show. I think Sheryl is some sort of catalyst, or a beacon. Whatever she is, I don't think you'll be seeing her flying out at the Space Monsters with speaks on a Valkyrie.
