  1. Damn, that's a beautiful airframe. I've always believed it to be sacreligous to buy a Valkyrie toy/model that doesn't transform, but buying a fighter only '21 from Hagesawa would be worth it just to see a shape that could never come in the form of a toy...

  2. Maybe the molds are starting to degrade, and the tolerances are suffering because of it. Depending of course on the strength and composition of the molds themselves, minor flaws inevitably happen folks....

  3. Hikaru-shmikaru...I will never understand the fascination with him, or anything that has to do with him.

I strongly recommend that you try to find the 1/48 "Low Visibility" VF-1, as it truly is a "Low Availability" Valkyrie that bears a truly unique and remarkable color scheme. The price will probably be high, but in my opinion it is entirely worth it and easily comparable to 5 'Hik-1S's with DYRL and TV Fast Paks and a %50 off coupon for 1/48 scale GBP armor bundled with it for free.....

  4. I don't think that the 3-man squad has anything to do with a military or technical application. The main characters, or the boys (Roy, Hikaru, Max, 'Kaki), needed to be featured together on-screen in order to facilitate dialogue and action sequences-what better way to do that than to have them fly together in a three man formation?

  5. I like the idea of a 'chipped system, as it keeps the unit looking intact and original. During the days of the VFX series, I just opted to buy PSX's from video game vendors who installed mod-chips in systems and then sold them that way. Also, these people would install chips in systems for a modest fee. Isn't there anyone out there that still does this?

  6. Highly unlikely.

Xbox is not doing so hot in Japan, unfortunately.

That's too bad. Could you imagine a missile storm while playing on the X box? With the processing power of the 'X that Macross game would blow everyone's minds.....

  7. I mean, Macross Plus does not really have any other continuity-stuff with either the TV-series or DYRL......

Sure it does. We see the SDF with the DYRL style arms/ships, so I take that as enough evidence to say that 'Plus relates to DYRL more. Also, Isamu's flight suit screams DYRL....

  8. Being over the top, like Reloaded, would have been fine as long as the final chapter could have answered a few, if not more questions. Reloaded at least continued the story line along with a 4 hour destruction derby on a freeway as an added bonus. Maybe I'm just not in tune with the Matrix world or what have you, but the last film left alot of people in the dust of the post apocalyptic world....

    YF-1R

I'm interested in one, only because the paint scheme and head will be unique. I will not buy one however, until the price comes down. I saw a Miriya MPC at Gamestop for $59.99-that's somewhat reasonable, and for the sake of the unique '1R I would make the purchase...

  9. I just got my 2 sets, courtesy of the almighty Kevin at the Valkyrie Exchange. My only points of concern are just the previously mentioned: super tight booster pods, and RMS missiles that are way too loose, although it does make it easier to take them on and off. The original missile clusters were so tight on my wings that I broke two of them just trying to place and remove them.....

  10. 1) No one is holding a gun to anyone's head here to buy any of these toys.  Don't buy it at all or wait until you can buy it cheaper.

Seriously. Just buy what you want/need. So far, I only own the '48 1A and 'Low Vis. I plan to get the Roy '1S reissue, and maybe a 3rd set of 'Paks but other than that I can't see buying anymore. Approximate total: $460.00 (before reissue and 'Pak #3). See how easy that is?! ;)

  11. Probably because "Angel Birds" sounds stupid to those whose native language is English...

    JMHO.

Sure, but most of the terms are odd-sounding to say anyways. Grenade Box Protector? Radiant Silvergun? There are too many Japanese names and designations that strike the western ear in an odd way. Come to think of it, Strike Valkyrie sounds wierd too. And would anyone say that the Angel Birds' name sounds any stranger than the Blue Angels?

The Angel Birds Valkyrie toy, if there ever is an official Yamato effort, will cater to a certain niche like the 'Low Vis does. And if you ask me, an Angel Birds' Valkyrie would sooner take a spot in my airfield long before a 'Seeker ever would...

  12. It's an odd situation for me then, as my 'Low Vis has a nose cone that's more likely to fall off, ailerons that are too tight and a canopy that tends to fall, unlike my '1A Hikaru that is just right in those areas...
