  1. Oooohh Woooowww....The colors....I take back anything I said earlier about these graphics not being next generation-and this is just the beginning! 360 tech support insisted that my lack of high definition output was because of my incorrect settings on the console itself. The local 'EB I spoke with said the console was probably defective. I wouldn't have had to ask all of these people for help, but the night I bought these cables one of my guinea pigs got loose and ate the instructions that probably included the information about that little switch. David, I can't thank you enough! If I were my avatar I'd kiss you!
  2. Just call it a clone and you'll still reap in a good profit for it. Cars that aren't authentic are commanding a respectable dollar amount these days. Heck, as far as I'm concerned just about any classic muscle car has the potential to incite senseless behavior. At the last cruise night that I attended, this bloke wanted to trade his '05 Mustang GT convertible for my '69 Charger.
  3. Oh no. I'll bet my new 360 that Devon Aoki will end up playing Asuka... Evangelion is an animated work and it should stay that way, especially when you consider what usually happens to an anime franchise when it becomes revisited. Street Fighter, Angel of Darkness anyone? I'm sure that you guys can think of more examples. No thanks. Live action ruins everything...
  4. One of the problems that the Blackwood scientist team had to deal with was a world of people that didn't believe there were aliens from another planet seeking to conquer the Earth. Wasn't there a world-scale invasion just 30 years or so prior to what was going on? An invasion that almost saw the human population destroyed? I guess people really are that forgetful of things...
  5. They're OUT there...
  6. There were riots at Wal-Marts across the nation over the low priced items that they were featuring. One in particular was some sort of laptop for $300 or something. Craziness, I tell you...
  7. I just picked this up off of team xbox's FAQ page: "5. What does the “compatible with top-selling Xbox games†means? It means that the most popular Xbox titles, based on sales figures, will be playable on the Xbox 360. However, Microsoft has not released official information as to which titles will be backward compatible." I thought that backwards compatibility was based on a hardware issue concerning the new types CPU and GPU? Maybe this means that depending on how well a game was profitable for the original Xbox, Microsoft will decide whether to spend the time and resources necessary to make a game compatible with the 360? Does this mean that they get to decide what old Xbox games we will get to play on the 360? -Just for laughs I tried calling 360 tech support for my HD cable question; it's always laughable when you know as much as the other person on the telephone, which in this case wasn't very much...
  8. That power brick runs hot hot hot! I wonder if this thing will have the tendency to start fires like previous power cords/supplies? The graphical artifacts indicate overheated RAM or video hardware, right? Anyway, at the moment I'm trying to figure out why my system is telling me that my HD cable's high definition output is turned off and set to normal tv? How can something be hooked up with component cabling and not be set to HD?
  9. Seriously. Hanging adapters up by string? Finding boxes with no lids to put the system, adapter or whatever on? It's almost as crazy as having to return a game to a company because there was a nation-wide recall for one....Nuts... Mike, I spoke a little too soon when I said that the graphics weren't "next gen." At the time, I had not picked up the component cables to hook up to my 'HD TV, and I was just using composite (I'm one of the retarded Core buyers). I figured that there couldn't be THAT much of a difference with component cabling. Although I'm using an old-school 52" projection set, after getting the component cable and messing with settings there is an obvious improvement; Need for Speed and PGR3 look very good. If I really want to take advantage of the visual capabilities I should probably get another type of game, one where I can actually enjoy the environments instead of having to concentrate on my driving... The situation at Gamestop is exactly the same as the job that I just lost, and I'm sorry to hear that type of pressure is on you. At least you guys get "employee weekend," that sounds like a blast. I guess that I'll be interviewing with Sabretooth at Target sometime soon...
  10. Well, if the system is succeptible to malfuntioning due to heat, surely Microsoft would have known about this in their R&D. The least they could have done was warned the public that this thing requires a considerable amount of ventilation or else. I wonder if Microsoft will deny any return/warrantly claims due to inadequate cooling on the part of the consumer... -Just read a section of my owner's manual that states the following: "Two left lights on console (ring of light) flash red-the console is too hot and will not play games until the unit cools down...." I guess that heat IS an issue that has been known about, well before the launch. Well, at the very least we don't have to turn it upside down like some of those first generation PS1's!
  11. Mail a game in, that's lunacy! What games were those? I guess I've been lucky so far...
  12. Wow, the 360 really IS like a 'PC-you have to download patches and fixes at about the same time you buy a game!
  13. I could've sworn I saw a head of purple hair in that trailer. I could go back and check, but that would mean I would have to gouge out my remaining eye with my fork and that wouldn't be good. In any case, as I said earlier it's as if producers that make movies like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, AvP, and Dead on Arrival are either ignorant or plainly don't care about what fans expect to see in their franchise's leap to the big screen. Taking the time to talk to 1 or 2 fanboys to get their input and then working that into the story would not be that difficult, and then we wouldn't have to have discussions such as this one...
  14. Are you talking about the power button on the front of the 360 (has the light "ring" around it) or something else? 347861[/snapback] Yeah. I'm old fashioned in that I expect a switch to have an audible click, or some other audible clue that you've done something; think NES, Super NES, GC, PS2, etc. Those are genuine switches, you hear them click and you also see them go up and down, and whatnot. The idea behind the 360 is that you touch the "circle of light" (thats starting to sound very.....corny), but with a minimum of pressure and the unit powers up or down. Well, I'd press the "circle of light" and nothing would happen. I'd press it a little harder and the unit would either power up or down but it was just wierd; it was like placing pressure on some random part of the machine rather than the power switch. I don't know, I'm just being picky, I'm still loving it...
  15. Really? Lol, well I've had the thing since launch but I just now figured out how to turn the damn thing off-that switch is wierd! In any case, it would seem then that the 2 fans aren't enough-maybe they should have been made bigger, or included yet another fan. I don't know. To quote a legendary soldier from the future: "I didn't build the damn thing!"
  16. Well, if heat is truly the issue at hand here I can't believe that R & D wasn't able to pick up on this. If everyone and their mother keeps touting this thing as a PC dressed up like a console then they should at least give it the cooling capacity of any modern, garden variety PC that would include at least 2 fans. The fan designed into the unit now wouldn't be enough to cool a stick of RAM let alone an entire system of hardware. Also, if the power supply unit is the one suffering from heat well, they should've put a fan in that thing too, or at least designed the thing larger (it's already the size of a forearm) to release more heat... -I couldn't figure out why Need for Speed was proving to be so difficult until I realized that the AI was using nitrous, and I've been running "all motor." lol
  17. You mean...you didn't know? That guy was Tsinc! High-priced-Valkyrie-peddler-extraordinaire! What surprises me is that you guys didn't have security around to take care of guys like that; or they weren't doing their jobs. The Target that I spent the night with had about 2 police officers in the store, not to mention their usual security squad stationed everywhere including the bra and panty section. At the very least, your Team Leaders and Managers should have been doing something about this character; where were they? -Also, how would you say the job is for the Team Leads? I'm thinking about applying for that, as Mike Z. has indirectly talked me out of a Manager job with Gamestop anytime in this century. -In addition, what games did you get? Did your store actually have any copies of DOA at the launch?
  18. Yeah...lol...Didn't he get in trouble at one point for having those things? I remember it as being a point of contraversy...
  19. If it was an '04 motor then it should've been blown...
  20. I suppose. But why would they care anyway? It's fiction, and they act as if their sheep, er, fellow parishoners might run off and join some Harry/Frodo based cult or something. It's harmless fiction that doesn't even make any attack, both obvious or subtle against any faith...
  21. The religious fanatics need to pipe down; Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins are no more of a threat to any system of faith than my G.I. Joe space shuttle. They're just stories, and any relationship established between religion and those fantasies isn't intended. -The church needs to worry more about finding a proper way to get their clergy off, so that they don't have to molest their little altar boys.
  22. When it comes to religious types who can even begin to understand their actions. This church banned Harry Potter because of what, now? Did they ban the Lord of the Rings as well? To a layman, those two franchises are one and the same...
  23. Well, I always believed that the Hackman Luthor was more of a tongue in cheek type of villain; serious enough to tamper with ballistic missiles, but still silly enough to have bumbling sidekicks... "Miss TESCHMACHER!!!!"
  24. I'm actually trying to find work there myself. With exception during the holidays, the employees seem to be moderately enjoying themselves. Tell me 'Sabre, would you recommend your company?
  25. Alright, if you can assure me that the story goes beyond 2 cute girls with little guns killing cookie cutter bad guys that are armed with phased plasma rifles in a 40 watt range without so much as breaking a sweat, then I will finish Noir; staring at the collector's edition box with just 3 dvd's has always been an eyesore for me anyway. As for DOA, Dead on Arrival, even fanboys have higher expectations for their fluff material and this......"work" fails in delivery.
