On the consumer side of the fence, which includes all of us and that angry 360 owner, his complaint about the '360 is completely valid, as the unit tends to overheat if the ambient temperature is anything over 0-kelvin. However, the '360 does include what every other appliance or consumer good that has the potential for a lawsuit-an instruction manual. In the 360's manual it clearly states that adequate ventilation has to be provided, or else.... Now, I don't know about you guys, but I've owned every console since the NES and I NEVER provided adequate ventilation for any of them: on the carpet, under clothes, in the sun outdoors, in a cabinet, by a heater, activated 24/7, etc; I never had any problems, certainly not the ones that people are having now with the '360. Microsoft has always known that the '360 would have heat issues, but of course they had to rush this thing out before the holidays and definitely before the PS9 or whatever comes out next year. I'll bet anything that in the months or years to come, there will be different versions of the '360 that feature enhanced cooling capabilities that will reduce or eliminate the problems that we're facing now. I guess Dave's already seen a power supply revision? Why would stores get a different power supply? Lol, I think Microsoft was definitely aware of heat issues for their baby... This guy is right, but Microsoft will be protected by their manual which is a legal document. Also consider that only a small percentage of owners, 15% or so, are experiencing problems, and that is well within an acceptable failure rate for a device. The only thing that Microsft will have to deal with is negative public opinion for now, but with their money and their potential for making more of it, I'm sure they really don't care about what people think of them...

That is unbelievable, but what they say about hardware in the military applies to consumer devices as well: it takes a brilliant team of minds and millions of dollars to develop something, but it only takes one ignorant kid to run it into the ground... Another thing I find unbelievable is some of the criticism that has been aimed at some of the launch titles. For example, it's been said that Project Gotham 3 and Need for Speed are just more polished versions of the former systems that now benefit from the 360's new hardware. Well DUH, those are racing games. You get in a car and drive it to the point of victory. What did they expect? What were they hoping to see? Other than highly improved graphics there's nothing more to see. The same would apply to Call of Duty, Perfect Joanna, or whatever it's called, and any other game. Racing games have racing, shooting games have shooting, sports games have.....sporting; other than improved graphics there isn't much more that you can do with genre specific games...

That's gorgeous. Can I get one in orange?

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire...

Well, he was stabbed but he still continued his "brash, cocky and arrogant ways." I believe he told Riker in the end of Tapestries, that his heart stabbing experience wasn't the last time that he fought with the Norsicans. I'm a little foggy on Trek trivia, but I'm sure there are a few more examples of Picard being far more animated than his stuffed shirt model of perfection, as seen on TNG. I would agree that maybe Picard was getting old...REALLY old....
-
That's actually an excellent point there, especially when you look at Picard. I've always enjoyed his perfection and blind sense of duty and obligation, but his character never really made sense to me when they tried to portray his youth as being "brash, arrogant and cocky," and always at the center of trouble; how would you go from that to being a model of perfection?

First shots of Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux.

Did you see it? I'll watch it if you will, although I'm not too enthusiastic about a movie that has a spot in the Rotten Tomatoes site... -
Well, ever since the Turbo Duo, Sega CD and the like came out 5,000,000 years ago, there have always been warnings about not moving the consoles while they are activated. Now if you'll excuse me, Street Fighter the movie is on...

I thought that the '22 was being rendered "obsolete" or otherwise put on hold?

Stuck in the '70s-80's... Bah... Granted, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but that entire page stems from the lack of acceptance towards the new vision and reinterpretation of the original series, instead of them dragging up Dirk Benedict from B-star retirement, breaking out that robotic puppy and trying to find enough disco-oriented clothing and music to set the tone. From my point of view, it's also amusing because many of the listed reasons "why" to hate the new BSG are reasons to rejoice in the new series. Also, if I actually had such an empty life that I could take the time to create a list with 55 reasons to hate the new BSG, I'm sure that I could easily come up with 110 reasons why to deride the original one...

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong-NOTHING on this planet will ever take the place of my '69 Charger, so it's not as if I'm against old cars or being retro, but c'mon...Older cars are just that-older cars. The new Charger, the new GTO and the new........well, I was going to mention an Asian brand car with a resurrected name but I can't think of one....will always run rings around their 40 year old predecessors...
-
I like the new GTO, including its appearance. Those who passionately protest its looks and claim that this dishonors the original are retro-freaks that want steel bodies, hoodscopes, judge emblems, carburetors, drum brakes and probably 15 inch wheels mounted with non-radial tires on them. The purists need to accept that this isn't '64, and that the GTO/Monaro's current shape is also due to aerodynamics; something that the original and even my beloved '69 Charger had nothing of... As for gas and insurance, hey, you gotta' love what you drive so I say it's worth it if you can spring for it; you can't go wrong with a 350 to 400 horsepower car...

I liked Picard because he was nothing more than a stuffed shirt who was dry, with little to no sense of humor and was so devoted to his ship and duty he couldn't see anything else. I admire people like that because I lack the self-discipline to take out the garbage on a regular basis, or tend to any other responsibility...

As far as I know the HD cables are fine; I was unaware that the component cable has a switch that allows you to choose either HD or regular TV output. I've never seen an AV cable that was dual-mode capable!

Severely underestimating what a western pilot can do with a non-obsolete F-16. And F-16 pilot may not always get a choice in which battles they could avoid if the other side presses the issue.Though better matchup would be between the F-16s and the Mirage2000-5 which India brought a tone of. 349184 What's the deal with the F-16? Is it that far behind in capability? And, I always thought questions like this one were decided by the pilot, not the plane...

Yeah, but who wants to go through all of the trouble of having to court a real girl anyway-they're more trouble than their worth. Now, if they could get that thing to look like one of the Cylon girls from the new BSG then I'd sign up....

Interesting Older Interview Of Ronald D Moore

Well that is good stuff. Let's just hope that 'Battlestar doesn't go the way of Voyager or Enterprise... -

Actually, a small fraction of those wrecks are by other cars. Majority of them are the owners' fault, whether they were drunk or just too excited to try out their new toys. 348762 Right. Like the one guy who picked up a new Murcielago, then drove it off of the dealership and then crashed it immediately. Picture states that he went right back into the dealership and ordered another one...

People are so desperate to rectify their 360 issues that they're willing to try anything, including plugging a valuable electronic device directly into a wall. Anyone familiar with electronic devices and that cares about them probably know the safety benefits of using a surge protector/power strip, but since these people's 360's are already malfunctioning, what do they have to lose? It's probably futile anyway; you can't tell me that the electrical difference between a power strip and a direct wall outlet bears that much of a variance...
-
The user's manual implies that you should plug the unit directly into a wall outlet. I can understand that, it's similair to a high end graphics card in a PC needing to be hooked up directly to the power supply to ensure a good flow of current, as they say in the install manuals. Meanwhile, I've got my unit connected to a power strip that's shared with my PS2, Xbox1, Dreamcast and..........a lava lamp. No problems here, and I've left my unit activated since I brought it home, basically.

That's exactly what it was. I'll say again that the t.v. ending and "End of.." had the exact same themes, which involved Shinji realizing that his own happiness, sadness, direction in life-his fate, was entirely up to him, to the individual. I still think that Shinji should've finished Asuka off though...

Well, how about "the story just ended?"

Where To Go For After Thanksgiving Sale?
myk replied to goldenboy_forever's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No job? What, 'ja get fired like me? Well, there'll be a point in life when you'll be thankful for any socks or underwear that you get. It's funny, but most of the time I really, really want something and I don't receive it in the near future I usually end up forgetting about it.
