  1. Klan Klang Queadluun-Rea and Klan-Klang Meltranfigure. :P I also noticed that HLJ has the SV-51y 'Nora' on super sale (50% off). I might order that as well. Would go perfect with my Ivanov!
  2. I just received my VF-25 "Luca" & VF-25 Michael "Klan-Klang" kits today. Just beautiful!! Still haven't had time to build them though, probably not for a long time too. Anyway, what's the overall opinion here? Should you paint them or are the molded colors good enough? I actually got these because they were pretty inexpensive, and the series just got the right Valk's I wanted (VF-27, VF-25S armored, VF-25 Luca + Ghosts and VF-25 Michael Klan-Klang custom), and because no paint or glue is necessarry.
  3. Long time since I posted here... Anyhoo, I ordered the Bandai 1/72nd snap-kits from HLJ. Not all of them, but Luca's with the three ghosts, Michael's (special Klan Klang livery), Ozma's armored unit and the VF-27 Lucifer. So far I received the Lucifer. Man what have I gotten myself into... I thought that these would be nice and easy to built kits (I don't have any time to properly paint them so...), but I opened the box and almost got a heart attack! So many pieces... Oh well, when I finally have some time for them I'll start the build. If anyon's interested in out-of-the-box pictures, just let me know.
  4. Yup, I definately need some VF-0's (or is that VF-0S ??) I'm still hoping for a VF-0D 1/60th though... Besides... I have some other expensive hobbies as well... For one thing, books. At present mostly about military subjects, and especially Maritime forces. Then my other "BIG" hobby: Diecast construction equipment in 1/50th scale. I've just seen what will be released this year, and it's going to be an expensive 2009... Oh well...
  5. My four (4) Ghosts came in today, finally!! Beautiful planes, big though... And huge boxes. But now I have some other ordnance to load under my SV-51y. Now, when will I start ordering a VF-0...
  6. Might be just me, but when I click the image, it only shows the top part, the image won't completely load... EDIT: Nevermind, Imageshack is just damn slow... Love the design though! I've always been a fan of the VA-3, and it just happens that I was looking for a Prowler like VF for a Fan fic project...
  7. The thrusthers underneath the cockpit of the SV-51 are not vernier (they are far to large) but more likely VTOL liftfans exhausts (the hatch just behind the cockpit can be opened up in Battroid mode to reveal the liftfans. Just like the one on the Lockheed-Martin F-35B Joint Strike Fighter STOVL variant. In my opinion, the SV-51 is not designed for use in space, unlike the VF-0. It's a variable fighter for atmospheric combat.
  8. Good point!! While wrinting it I came to the conclusion (after reading you're own post) that although it's not totally unbelievable, it's not Macross. I'll rewrite it, to include more Macross history. Maybe they did a "GoodBye Lenin"
  9. Funny... I was just thinking about this a couple of days ago... My take is this (and I'm playing the Devil's Advocate here...). Even now, there are many nations growing tired of the interference of the United Nations. These are not necessarily governments, but rather the increasingly better informed (although not particular smarter) public. For example, take Birma. Why hasn't the UN send a peace force there? Because the Birmese government said they don't want it? No, because it's not economically interesting. Afghanistan, Iraq, it's basically about stability in the region because of economic (read OIL) interests. So, many citizens of various nations might consider the UN to be a bit one-sided when it comes in giving aid, or making sure people and democracy is safe. Some of these nations might have a 'regime change' with newer politicians listening more to the public, and omitting the UN's resolutions, or just ignore them altogether (this is already happening here in Europe, where many people are VERY unhappy with numerous European Union decisions, so it's not totally unheared off) personally, I think this is not necessarily a bad thing. (In fact, I've been working on an alternate history / alternate Universe, with this principle. Part of Europe sepeartes from the rest of the European Union, and forms the "Northern European Alliance", or Union, or Coalition or something like that.) Then we look at the SV-51. It's mentioned (although not actually in the show) that it's an Israeli-Industries (Israel) Sukhoi (Russia) and Dornier (Germany) product. Well, we all know that Israel doesn't take the UN serious all the time. They do what they think they need to do to survive in an increasingly hostile environment (nice euphemism ), this includes destroying even US ships because they get in the way... In my opinion, Israel is a likely candidate to become a founding nation of the Anti-UN, purely because of self preservation. After that, more will follow. Ukraine and various other Eastern-European countries might follow, trying to benefact from Israel's position. Turkey perhaps. Despite being officially an Islamic country, it's far more western than people tend to think. Then we have the UN wars. According to Nora (who is horrifyingly scarred) UN soldiers committed war-crimes (again, not science fiction. Somehow it's human nature to abuse power, and who is in a better position than a well armed soldier in an already war torn country), this is from all times, and from all nations. From the way she looks, Nora is likely to be of slavic origin, Probably one of the Balkan countries, although this is purely speculation. But, just for the fun of it, let's assume she is Serbian. The Serbs were not exactly the most friendly people in either Balkan war, and UN forces were deployed to combat them. As M:Zero plays around 2008/2009, she seems to have the right age to have actually been in one of these wars. Hmm.. perhaps, these Balkan wars are actually the start of the UN/Anti-UN wars. Okay, long story short (I'm getting tired, and my English degrades more and more as I'm getting more tired) here's the idea. United Nations: For the large part consisting of the present United Nations, including the United States (perhaps with President Obama, the support for the UN in the US will rise, who knows, everything's possible...) and Japan (well duh...). Anti-United Nations: Israel, Ukrain, Balkan, Turkey, various Eastern-European countries, various 'more-developed' African countries, and perhaps China and some other East-Asian nations. As for Terrorist states... I highly doubt these will be accepted in either the UN or the Anti-UN. Just look at Afghanistan, after the US helped them get rid of the Soviets, they turned on the US itself, besides, religious-fundamentalists will never be able to form a coherent nation, They only think that their idea is right, You're either with them or you're against them. And the Anti-UN from M:Zero doesn't look like religious nuts at all... More a higly organized, well funded and well trained military force. Perhaps even a kind of S.M.S. Well, I'm going to give this some more thought this week, and will see what I can come up with that is believable. Personally, I'm opposed of Nuclear weapons (at least the use of them inside a planetary atmosphere, outside that, it doesn't really make a difference. In space there's already a lot of radiation, and because of the great distances, a Nuclear weapon blast radius will make up for poor targeting), so I'll try to omit any kind of Nuclear weapons exchange. Any ideas, or correction of misstakes, let's hear them!
  10. *BUMP* First of all, sorry to reactivate this pretty old topic... Second, does anybody here still have the pics from Nanashi's opening post? I know there are some very interesting pictures of the Auerstädt in op4_delta's Asuka II Carrier Battle Group, A tactical essay on the Asca CVBG (hopefully the models of the Asuka and Auerstädt will be completed), but I was hoping someone might have official lineart. So far the only I've seen was this: As you can see, this is an early sketch, and does not reflect the final model seen in the OVA. Anyway, I've been trying to draw a variant of the sub myself, using those images as well as my SV-51y as a guide. For the moment I've determined the launch tubes (which are somewhat elliptical, as shown in episode 5) to have an internal width of 14.4 meters to 16.2 meters (about 47 to 53 foot) with an internal length of 9 meters (29.5 foot). These measurements are based on the SV-51 equipped with boosters, two air-to-air missiles, and a fuel pod under each wing, again, as depicted in episode 5. My ship will have beam of 75.6 meters (not including fins), as this is the optimum size to have a transit lane for the SV-51's between the launchtubecovers. I'm still undecided about the length though... If I use the length to beam ratio from an Ohio class SSBN/SSGN (Length equals 13.3 x beam) the size would come out at 75.6 x 13.3 = 1005.5 meters. A bit large... The Typhoon L/B ratio is 7.3, giving a length of about 551.88 meters. However, I will know more when I have the image from the bridge status display printed and measured. Instead of propellors, the boat will use a new style of propulsion, as seen on this concept model for an advanced UK attack sub: My sub will carry 20 to 22 SV-51's, 2 or 4 ASW Rotorcraft (my original design, based on the UD-4L Cheyenne dropship from Aliens) and up to 10 Octos variable Destroids. These will be located in special bays at the underside of the sub. Pilots get in (Octos is in sub-mode) bay is flooded, and the Destroid launches from a hatch at the bottom. For amphibious assault / reconniassance / special ops delivery the sub will also house a few Gibbs / Lockheed-Martin Amphibians to be precise, this will include (may vary in the future): -10x Amphibious Combat Craft Expeditionary ACC/E -6x Amphibious Combat Craft Riverine ACC/R -4x Terraquad Of course the sub needs to surface to deply these vehicles.
  11. I can't wait for a VF-0D in 1/60th either. Should look even better with a Ghost booster!! I think the of-set purple VF-19 paintscheme rocks. Anyway, here are the websites: VF-0D Gerwalk: Marcy Military Blog VF-0D & VF-0S: Johnny Archives VF-19S Custom: WanderFestival 2006 (Check out the FFR-31 SYLPHEED as well!!) VF/B-22 Jagdvogel: VF-1 Riders More great views of various VF's from the VF-1 Riders series, including an amazing paintscheme for the VF-22, giving the word Raptor a whole new meaning (2004 set) and a very interesting custom VF-0S (2005 set): VF-1 Riders - 2001 VF-1 Riders - 2002 VF-1 Riders - 2003 VF-1 Riders - 2004 VF-1 Riders - 2005
  12. I've been seaching the web, and have come upon a few interesting websites showing original fan-made Variable Fighters (in fighter mode mostly, but also in GERWALK mode) with some very interesting designs. First up is the VF-0D in Gerwalk mode. Too bad this image is so small, but it's probably the coolest 'diorama' featuring a VF I've ever seen!! Lots of attention to detail, such as the position of the enigne nozzles, and the water surface. I assume this model has been made using a VF-0D and a VF-0A kit from Hasegawa. Another VF-0D, this time with real world ordnance. Underside... A VF-19 custom, also with real world ordnance. I have to say, I preferred the bigger winged YF-19 originally, but the short wing VF-19 is pretty cool too!! My personal favorite, a VF/B-22 Jagdvogel based on the VF-22A Sturmvogel and the proposed FB-22 Raptor. I'd definately like to see this baby transform, and have it featured in an OVA. There's some more information about this model on the MAHQ website, but this has been down for a few days now. If anyone here has more (and bigger!!) photo's of it, just post them here! EDIT: This topic should actually have been in the "Custom" section. If a mod could move it there, that would be great!
  13. It's strange that in a show which relies heavily on CGI, such misstakes are being made. The top image of Klan in her Queadluun seems alright, but the lower image definately is out of proportion... Then again, it was mentioned in the show (and therefore is canon) that Klan has a problem with her genes while being micronized. Perhaps the otherway around is also true, and she comes out of teh chamber different sized...
  14. I haven't seen this image yet in this discussion, and it might be relevant. It shows the shear size of Klan's Queadluun, with her sitting in it. Looks like she has more than enough room to put those long beautiful legs somewhere. Hmm... Amazon Meltran... ^_^
  15. From all the (newer) Macross capital ship designs, the Uraga class are among my favourite. But these are unfortunately there's very little information about these ships available. The Macross Mecha Manual has a good page about the Macross Plus variant Uraga Class Escort Battle Carrier @ M3 and the VF-X game variant Saratoga II CV-565 Escort Battle Carrier @ M3. But the lineart (although large) are just sketches. If anyone has a good direct top view of these ships, post them here.
  16. Me too!! Anyway, there's something peculiar about this plane. It's an original design, not a canon design. The VF-0C is a single seat fighter, while the delta winged variant seen in the Macross Zero OVA was a two seat fighter. Interesting. Is this common practice amongst Macross kits?
  17. I just saw the TV-movie last week. I think it was pretty good. Hopefully they will air the series here as well. The new KITT is pretty cool, with the nanobots and all, making Super Pursued Mode more interesting than the 'extendable' car in the old show. One thing bothered me though... The villains were after them in a helicopter. Perhaps this was a 'homage' to the old 80's style action TV series, but they showed three different helo's... Major misstake, and something which isn't necessary anymore.
  18. I've found this great image from an Anime Aircraft Carrier on KightCat's bucket site: And was wondering if anyone had more images of it? Looks huge, interesting, and perfect for some ideas I have...
  19. First, thank you Yamato for reissuing the VF-1's with the same missile hardpoints as the Macross Zero VF-0's and SV-51's !! I've always loved the VF-1's huge reaction missiles, and will now be able to ad these (updated designs) to the SV-51 or VF-0 (and vice versa). Well, two questions. First question: What would be the best VF-1 update to get? I'm partial to the strike version, as I only have the original 1/60th VF-1J "Max", and I just love that big gun. Second question: where can I get another particle beam cannon? I've always like dthe collectors customs with two pB-cannons in place instead of one PB-cannon and one missile launcher. That said, I'd also like the new missile launchers, as they can be opened now, showing interior detail (same goes for the leg armor btw). Oh well, I think I've just answered my own questions... Just get two VF-1S strike versions, one Hikaru, one Focker. Two cannons, and two missile launchers. ^_^
  20. I'm wondering, what happens with the dorsal missile pods on the VF-0 "Angel" (with Ghost booster) when in battroid mode. I know from photo's that the dorsal part of the VF-0 splits in two, so I assume they cannot remain attached to the VF-0. A picture of the VF-0 with Ghost booster in battroid form would be nice. B))
  21. The new VF-0C from Hasegawa has just been released and is in stock with hlj.com now for the nice price of € 23,65 euro's. The model looks very interesting, and the site included some excellent photo's: But the box art is the most interesting. Two VF-0C's flying over a.... Daedalus!! Anyway, if anyone hew ordered this model, and has it finished, let me know, as I'd really like to get this one myself as well!
  22. Remko

    Vf-27 toy/model ?

First of all, if that's a scratch built, that's some amazing work!! Looks like it just came from a factory. So, I assume the modeler is some kind of proffessional. As for the "what type of VF would you like being modeled (apart from a Yamato 1/60th VF-27 of course!!) part", well, don't shoot me, but a nice 1/60th VA-3 Invader would be very nice!! B))
  23. Very nice custom indeed!! Anyhoo, with the VF-0S + Ghost booster set, you get additional missile pods and two other things. From what I've gathered here on the forum, these are extra fuel tanks. But I disagree. I think they are missile pods, just as the ones seen on the VF-17 from Macross 7: This is very likely, as in one of the final scenes of the final episode of M:0, you see Shin jettisoning all weapons to prevent the birdhuman killing him. But, and this might be used as a very good argument, the pods are never seen being used to launch missiles. Then again, they are also not being mentioned as being fuel tanks.
  24. Excellent!! I have a pose on my SV-51y now which looks a bit like "Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot... Better raise my big gun and blast the hell out of it!!" It's a startled SV-51, going in the defense mode. I'll set up my portable photostudio tomorrow and take some pictures.
  25. Has anyone already tried the ultimate SV-51 pose? Image from Macross Mecha Manual EDIT: Good luck! I've tried it with my own SV-51, and it won't really work. Besides the CGI version has slightly different proportions, the hinges and joints are to weak to hold the part in the good configuration. I've come a long way, but not just yet...
