Do You Remember Love Art better than Frontier?
Funkenstein replied to aquilon's topic in Movies and TV Series
The music in Frontier is a lot more varied, and honestly, a lot more entertaining than DYRL. Music has evolved a lot since 1984. As for dog fighting, Im surprised that Frontier's dog fights didn't have more missiles involved. Character art is a bit ho-hum for some of the characters. Mechanical design is obviously cooler, like the Konig Monster and the VF-27. The story though, has some holes in it, though DYRL had the same problem. I would say, Frontier edges out DYRL. -
The logical conclusion "How wide was the sheet of paper that the SDF-1 was drawn on?"

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
Funkenstein replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
T4 was average. Not particularly great, and not particularly well acted. Christian Bale was sort of stale in the movie, and the other guy was much more interesting, though his story was bungled too, with the pretty obvious twist being set up at the start of the movie. I suppose they wanted to surprise the audience, but they made it so obvious that you could almost tell how the movie was going to end. The story of T4 was really a problem. It didnt make you want to care about most of the characters. In my opinion , JJ Abrams should buy the franchise and do something with it. -
The blog post is actually enlightening. What you see is the kind of personality that is typical with a lot of Robotech non-anime fans. Certain things come up that should be noted: Sexual discomfort: Some fans of RT have discomfort at displays of sexuality or sensuality. This has more to do with personal ideology than quality of the show. This is why they are more comfortable with cartoonish diplays (like Shadow Chronicles) of sexuality but more uncomfortable with more nuanced approaches. (Maybe, Im really just pulling stuff out of the air) Genre: RT fans are mostly space opera fans, where as Macross fans are mostly Mecha/Music/Everything else. Considering that the point of Macross was that there are individual lives involved in the midst of war, and that people will continue living on, that may be something not as action soaked as pewpew space planes and explosions. RT fans are heavily nostalgic because they never got anything new after the originals. Where as Macross fans (hopefully) recognize the (deep faults at some points) of SDF Macross but can appreciate newer iterations. This is the same with the developers, who appreciate their fans and desire to make the best possible product, where as HG doesn't seem to particularly care about Robotech nor the fans. RT fans are most likely the same people who felt ReBSG was a terrible show , as ReBSG took a much more personal perspective on war, like Macross did, as opposed to Old BSG which was making war seem fun and action packed like Robotech did.

Nostalgia clouds judgement. Im sure those guys also loved the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and never known about the Eastman & Laird original series. If its not obvious, I hold the 1987 series in high contempt. But the real thing that Robotech fans won't be able to answer is why their veritechs are all from the 1980's (excluding the retconned series' of course). I suppose nostalgia also covers up the reverse progression of technology in Robotech. Don't get me started on why technology developed in reverse in Robotech. I have a hard enough time trying to figure out how a civilization goes from sleek fighter craft to god awful fat-ass space bloxes.

I dont see any brunettes in that picture.

Shouldn't Robotech fans be more angry that they dont have access to the hot loot that Macross fans regularly buy? I mean, they can't even buy Yamato's 1/100 Monster, or the 1/2000 scale SDF-1.

Ah man, roman numerals. Your first guess is right, its MK IV. Never ever use IIII. -
Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Funkenstein replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Probably best to wait for the Blu-Ray release, since BR discs from Japan can be played on US players (if you live in USA). -
So, its like one of those cheesy 1950's alien invasion movies. Except in Spanish? This is going to fail like Spider-Man 3. And not even earn back the money lost on it.

Bandai VF100's Official Thread Ver.2
Funkenstein replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It looks like Bandai is re-releasing the VF-100's line at a lower price point. Tamashii Nations will be selling the VF100 Super VF-25G for 2940 yen Tamashii Nations release calender -
There will be a Robotech movie, no doubt about it. But will Harmony Gold be able to turn that exposure into something positive? We've seen them do completely worthless things like create stories and then turn around to retcon them. In my mind, when RLAM gets made, HG will have to retcon most, if not all of its pre-live action stuff so that they can ride the movies coattails to the bank. Thats why they are waiting , so that they can get a script and then make the proper retcons for the Shadow Rising dvd.

Its a teen romance novel. It has all the crude and hackneyed writing of a dime-store romance novel, but none of the softcore porn. Which means its got a death grip on the entire female readership base. And oddly enough, Mormons too.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
Funkenstein replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I got a Michael , a lot of the moving parts have been broken. It has its decals, but you can see the forward wheel well complete broken and just glued together. Some of the design choices for moving parts are pretty terrible. -
Id like to point out that Troll 2 was a completely original movie.

I gotta be honest, if all HG could scrounge up was animation to make Reboot look like a technical marvel, then there is no way in hell they will ever produce anything for TV.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Funkenstein replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Whats the possibility of the Blu Ray having multi-language support? -
This toy is becoming more likable. I think of the cost of a transforming Yamato figure, and see this is a nice alternative. Especially considering its half the price of something out of VF100. So in essence, its a real action figure, not one of those boutique figures for hardcore collectors.

Bandai VF100's Official Thread Ver.2
Funkenstein replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Question: Is VF-100 being replaced by VF Hi-Metal? Does that mean we can expect the rest of the MFrontier fighters released as Hi-Metal? -
HG did ask what the fans wanted. The fans wanted more of the same old stuff they saw when they were kids. They wanted Rick Hunter and SDF-1. They wanted the 80's back.
-
Was the Octos from Zero a dead end design? Im surprised the UN didn't improve on it,Im sure having even more transforming battleships would be useful.
-
Presumably, after the UN folded and the new UN formed, most information about Megaroad 01 was lost. Of course, that assumes that the UN and New UN aren't simultaneously active.
-
Wow, where can I get that odd thing?

Nobody wants to buy figures of normal shaped girls, come on.
