  1. Thanks for the video!

Nice to see it in action, look forward to picking on up on Yahoo Japan with a $150 buyer surcharge  😛

Would have been nice to see the Strike cannon and the arm have some details.

A super bonus would have been to include 4 box missiles then the entire thing could be a self-contained DYRL final battle representation.
(since they ditched the 2nd normal missile rack and have strike parts only, it is finale exclusive anyways, so just charge a little more and make it 100% complete)

  2. I wonder if it will continue the trend of having english captions...hope so
Sometimes there are little nuggets of trivia in the past volumes that are interesting to read without grabbing the phone translate function.

  3. Deculture version LOL
Interesting the book is presented portrait style (vs landscape)
That is fine...just give the me obligatory 'we are so sorry but we must ask you to rotate the book' and give me full page pics! :)

  4. looks like a consolidation of everything he's done for tv and dyrl only to celebrate the 40th

if one already had all his previous books will there be something new?

if it had all his latest HMR it would be nice

  5. I see a positive aspect is that new fans to the series are willing to drop $120 on a collectible they don't know much about. That is not an insignificant amount to drop on a toy.
If this was your first Macross toy since seeing a Jetfire from the 80's, I could understand being underwhelmed at the size and plastic.
These would not be the comments made on the upcoming DX YF-19.

Hope Bandai can make any needed marketing adjustments and keep thing moving forward!

Maybe they switch back to "HCM" - High Complete Model, it would seem to fit the line better, and there is history there.

  6. You were not kidding, the negative reviews seem focus on the metal terminology in thr HMR name. example below.

I suspect there could be a new localization needed for the non Japanese markets who don't know the history of the line.

    Where is the Metal?

There is absolutely no METAL on this piece and I paid $150 for a cheap plastic imitation. I expected better from Bandai and Metal Spirits line. This is definitely going back. Please don't waste your time on this.

I watched Orguss back in the 80s on 3rd generation vhs copies with no subs.  I was still able to follow the overall story and become very invested in the characters by the last episode, which has a unique ending to say the least.  You’ll enjoy it.

3rd generation? What we you, in Japan?
In the 80's at my monthly anime meetings at SDSU where my mom dropped me off for the afternoon they were 6th+, and you were HAPPY  😛

and you then got to take a 7th gen home LOL

  8. The VF-0S was my first HMR purchase, I got it to support Macross for a World Wide release, primarily for the Tenjin Box art.

My biggest gripe with the HMR line (I got the GBP release as my 2nd HMR for the Tenjin art too) is that the boxes have all these vertical striations that are visible at any sort of angle and light, across the wonderful art. Its like the carboard came off a roll and has folds for bending or something weird.

Yeah that is a weird peeve to have.
