  1. Does Bandai support only support from a retailer or from 'ebay'?
Meaning if those embossed numbers on the back of the box are the same across the US based YF-21s,  and the sticker is the same, could we make a claim to get a replacement antenna?

Its a gray area I know, but lately I feel particularly bitten by Bandai with my DX purchases, so I think I might be willing to cross into the gray zone to restore at least one of them to true normal.

  2. That just looks freaking amazing. I loathe the non-white landing gear on the DX. This is how it should have been released.
(also with larger freaking tailfins...even a replacement option like the angel bird, if they needed to resolve some anime magic)

The plastic part that is supposed to tab in the back of the nose in batroid mode simply doesn’t hold. It’s not that it’s loose or anything, it just doesn’t stay in place. And as a consequence, the batroid is a floppy mess.

I can’t even display the toy in fighter because of the broken tailfin…very disapointed here.

Hey-I thought I was the only one, yes mine also does not stay secure at all, it just pops out.
Sounds like they ran the DX VF-1 molds into the ground and need to freshen them up lol

Can't wait to see what new problems arise from the 50th anniversary version.

  4. The tail fins on the vt-1 do not fold at all, meaning they have no 'give' at any angle. They are not removable either.
I need to search and see if anyone has taken the DX VF-1 apart so I can see if I can crack open my backpack, so I can pivot the stub and try a glue.

But I fear if I did come up with a repair, if I tried to clip the tailfin into the back clips, when I tried to unclip it would probably break again, its quite a secure snap.
Right now the right side clip is holding the backup up in battroid. I clipped in the loose tailfin just to maintain some sort of symmetry, but its just loose.

Bandai had how many release of the DX so far...and they just had to change something that could allow a break.
Frustrated that I spent $268 plus shipping here. I think I'm changing my policy to only buy open box used products from now on. Its just not worth the hassle of spinning the "Bandai is it going to be broken' roulette wheel when you open a sealed item.

  5. I guess I should put it all back into the box and shake it to see if you could hear it through the packaging huh lol

Then you could tell without opening the box.

The tail fins don't fold, so any pressure on the outside of the box could snap them.
I tried moving the stub in the backpack so I could try to glue it but its wedged in there, so until I find out how to disassemble the backpack it will be in permanent battroid mode.

  6. I am so lucky with these recent DX purchases, seriously WTH.
Open the box and I have a broken tail fin.
At least I can officially confirm that its molded in ORANGE.
Bought from Mercari, so no one to help.

Guess we'll see how well super-glue works.

  7. I wonder if someone could could 3D print a Shin cover and 'shoes' to slide over the Yamato.
In the concept of GBP leg armor-just a simply shell you'd snap over the Yamato shin/calve that gave it more of the appearance of the DX.
And perhaps a 'shoe' you could slide onto the Yamato's foot that made it larger.

  8. Just throwing it out there...whenever I get a shipment from Fedex, 3 weeks later I get a customs Bill for the amount
So saving 600 yen shipping could turn into a customs fee on the cost of the VT-1
Your results might vary, but I'm 2 out of 2 for fedex zapping me with a bill.

  9. I see 1/55 styled shins and feet on the left black robot, and on the right silver robot, 1/55 styled arms and what looks like exact 1/55 front landing gear, with the nail buster release switch and spring.
For the center f-14 I just see the tail fins can collapse (to the outside, not over each other), but I'd call that a strong derivative.

Anything else these old eyes aren't catching?

    Cool find!!
