The Soul of Chogokin thread!

The new ExGokin Mazs are definitely punk cool but they had less impact to me when compared to the Fewture Getters and the original Fewture 1901 Mazinger - I was hoping Fewture would Ex-Gokin the whole 1901 Mazinger line, since they are giving that treatment to Bossborot and Doublas. I love those 1901 design but the quality of the resin and fit are not exactly top notch. I am dying to see Joyumaru ExGokin

Just have an idea, since we might get a spare devil wing from the weather version, may be I can give one to my Sera figure from Hellsing. I never liked her original wing. I think the Aoshima wing looks cooler on her and closer to the manga. :D

Actually, they won't be too pricey, cheaper than the getters. I think the RRP is 25,000yen (a steal in five years time).

By the way, I heard that only 500 black getters were ever made, so I think he is still the King of Fewture ^_^

I have the Fewture Getters and they are really awsome. I am absolutelly getting the Mazingers, no matter how pricey they may be.

so even though the Fewture Mazingers are cheaper will they have the same die cast content and be the same size? If so I am (secretly) getting them!

They belong to the Ex-Gokin line, so they better have some weight ^_^ . A good tale-tell sign would be be the soon to come out Bossborot and Doublas. ;)

I have yet watch Gurren Lagann, but those mecha are growing on me. UN Spacy's pic shows lovely details, hope it is diecast.

By the way, for those whom own Fewture Getter 1 & 2, do you find the Getter 2 has better fit than the Getter 1? A few things (e.g. the cape, the chest plate, the belly plate) tend to fall off from my Getter 1 if I don't handle it carefully. Where as with Getter 2, everthing seems to fit better and has better posability.

same thing happens to mine.

And Macross73, Don't attach the metal clip at the top of the stand to the back of your Getter without putting a bit of tape around the edges - it will scratch the paint off.

Anyone know just how long ago the Machine Robo series featuring Baikanfu was aired? It doesn't seem like a very old robot design to me, and I was just wondering if the SOC franchise is beginning to inch into more modern anime territory...

Oh, I think Machine Robo had been around for a very long time. I saw it when I was kid (around 10yrs), so it must have been at least 22 years old. The robot design is very kick ass and considering its age, it's design really held up well. Of course, Bandia does a great job to make it looks even nicer by focusing into those panel details and gave it a slight better body proportion.

Ahh, I see. Thanks! I figured Machine Robo was an older anime; after all GoBots was based on this right? Just thought perhaps there may have been an updated Machine Robo a la Shin Getter or Mazinkaiser. It does look like a very modern design.

Congratulate sir. As Sebastian once said, they are the absolute toy porn.

Your life is now almost complete...but you know there is one more mountain to climb…go now, my young grass hopper, go and seek the allusive black getter (actually not that allusive, just freaking expensive… ), go now!!!!

I have to agree the getter 2 has a better fit than getter 1 the chest piece is a bit tight to get on and off but its minor these guys are cool

and since I've never been patient about anything toy related they have a buddy on the way. B))

Don't they look lke one big happy family.

If anything, the Fewture super robots reminds me of a perfect picture of a liberal 21st century family: Getter 1 is your beefy bloke of the house whom likes to wear his orange underpant inside-out (like Homer Simpson does), Getter 2 is the drag queen whom looks after all the handiworks around the house with his big drills, and Getter 3 is the spoiled little fat kid...and Mazinger 1901 is the regular visiting swinging uncle whom like to dress in goth and idolise Marilyn Manson...

Fewture rocks!!!!!

Man, I love those EX Gohkin Getters, but they're so expensive these days. Anyone remember what the original retail price on these was? I seem to remember around $200, but it appears everyone's selling for about double that now. Guess I missed the boat.

I think they were around $200 to $250 but at the time, I was focusing on Yamato's 1/48, so I thought, meh...what a big mistake. Who knows, never count out 2nd issue, and they might improve the fit better. Right now, prices are too looney to dive into one.

Yea, same here. The upcoming EX Gohkin Maz and Great Maz are priced at about $200 as well. Not going to hold my breath on reissues, so just going to rationalize and say that this setback allows me to continue focusing only on vintage designs, and that the EX Gohkins would only hurt the integrity of my thoughtfully gathered collection.

Hah, right.

The late "Robo-Shi" Sato had done 7 designs which include that Mazinger 1969. Not sure Great Mazinger and 3 EX Getters count toward that seven.

Either way, I am looking forward to finding out more.

I gave up finding those EX-Ghokins, but that Getter-2 is such an awesome piece (though Getter 2 has never been my favourite).

I saw that Fewture Boss Borot color version is out ( Toywave has it) and was wondering why its not up anywhere else I mean HLJ doesn't have it up for pre-order just the silver version and I didn't see it up at BBTS. Why the two versions anyway? I don't think that fans are as excited about BB or Doublas as they were for the Getters or Mazinger. The Mazingers are a must have for me. I 'm just waiting for the moment they're up for pre-order. Also wondering if the Getters are being released as set. Toywave has that on the site as a pre-order that is soon to be released. Speaking of Getters whats the deal with Aoshima and the caped Getter. i mean why not just sell the cape as separate accessory. Doesn't seem to be worth it as a consumer to buy another Getter just for the cape/cloak.

edit:

this guys auctions shows some interesting pcis of the boss borot
