  1. I have been contemplating giving One Piece a viewing. It won't be now, but I expect sometime maybe around end of October or so. Keep in mind I said *contemplating*, because I just don't know if I can swallow those ridiculous, zany and goofy character designs and art style. I attempted to watch this show way back a few years ago on Cartoon Network and was extremely put off by both the character designs and the English dub. However, many people claim the story and plot more than make up for its shortcomings. Is this really true? Basically I'm asking, from a serious skeptic, why should I give One Piece a chance? For reference, I love the DB and DBZ to death.
  2. Yup, exactly. Loved the show nonetheless because it's very thought provoking and I gotta give props to Shu and King Hamdo's Japanese VAs who did an exceptional job, but God damn if it's not a very bleak narrative.
  3. I am back into watching anime and can't tell you how happy I am to finally be into it again! Just finished watching Bubblegum Crisis 2040 and now I'm on Now and Then, Here and There...what a ridiculously depressing show
  4. If you re-time subtitle files with Aegisub, does that mean you still have to reload them manually after each episode?
  5. Ouch!!!!!! Sounds like more work than it's worth. Sounds like I'm better off going with the Central Anime sub files, no? If so, can you send me a link to them?
  6. Good post and good discussion xrentox. I too am familiar with VLC and have been using it for a long time. All the foreign movies I have watched that have had separate .srt files have successfully played flawlessly in VLC, and when I eventually watch SDF Macross bluray, if it's on disc it'll be ripped to my PC. So the only question remaining is, will VLC read these .ass files that are contained in this subtitle folder, *without* any need for conversion to srt?
  7. Mechinyun....are these sub files for the Bluray release? If so, then I will consider you a GOD AMONG MEN!!!!!!!!!!! There is a rip of the bluray release out there but it's raw with no subs. The file is gigantic but if these subs work with them then it will be worth it
  8. I agree 100% that downloading is convenient. Dude...things like this are PRECISELY the reason why I decided not to use MKV Maker or whatever it's called. I started out with that was annoyed at how it splits your discs into chapters which are not named, and it doesn't even name the dvd it's ripping. That makes for a LOT unknowns and confusion. That's why I went with ripping my discs raw and in uncompressed .iso format using ImageBurn. Much more organized that way and it's actually much faster than ripping via MKV Maker. Yes, it might take up a bit more space but it's worth having your dvd collection sorted as actual "discs" on your Hard Drive rather than broken up files and chapters. With that having been said, I have discovered that a few shows that I have owned for many years have been re-released and remastered either on dvd or bluray, such as Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop. So I've decided to torrent those and will watch those versions instead. Can't wait to see how much better Bebop looks over the original Bandai dvd release from 1988.
  9. Thanks for the reply. I am eager to try them out, but won't be able to until I eventually finish downloading the raw Mac7 BluRay rips of BT, which unfortunately are not subbed and has only a few seeds so far. One thing I noticed about the sub files I linked to, is that one srt file appears to cover *two* episodes each! Interesting, no?
  10. So....how much better is the picture quality of this Bluray compared to the *ORIGINAL* Region 2 DVD release of the film that came in an LD sized box and came out way back in I think 1998? Is it night and day?
  11. Thora did an amazing job with the previous release. This new boxset looks tempting and I'll eventually get it, but for now I'm cool with the previous release with the Thora subs. The transfer is fantastic and I have no complaints.
  12. Guys what about these sub files? http://www.allsubs.org/subs-download/macross-7-tv-4-9-1994-eng-mac-0102-1314-0708-1718-0304-0506-0910-1920-1112-1516/2553357/ They cover all 49 episodes. Are these the same fansub ones from Central Anime? How accurate/good are they? If not, then technoblue would you mind sending me an invite to the asiandvdclub.org? I am looking for English sub files to match the blu-ray release. There's a torrent up for it but without any subs
  13. Nice! OK I just took a more thorough and critical look at my collection, based on the amount of discs my Slappa D2 DVD case can hold. The case can hold 240 discs, but there were 3 "pages" of non-anime discs I didn't rip. But, I also has the Robotech and Macross TV boxsets that are in their actual boxes, so I had to include those as well. So....what this means is the final....FINAL count is 226 discs altogether. That is a 100% accurate count. 226 discs that take up only half of a 3TB drive. Crazy!
  14. MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! After taking a closer look at my folder and giving a better glance at each show, I just realized that my initial estimate of "around 100 discs or" was way WAY off!!!!!! I have 43 shows that I've ripped. Each show contained on average about 6 discs. If you calculate 43 x 6, that comes up to around 258 discs!!!!!! That's not including shows with a bigger count like Dragon Ball, which has around 22 discs. So the count is more like 250!!!! And still only half the drive! WOW!!!!!
  15. All I can say is DO IT! I still have 1.3TB left, and 1.3 is what everything came up to. So roughly half of the drive. Keep in mind, ALL my discs were ripped in raw, .iso format. I didn't want compression or to leave to out any extras/special features.
  16. After procrastinating for years, I finally caved in and ripped my entire Anime DVD collection consisting of around oh, I dunno...100 discs or so, to one colossal 3TB HDD. Felt good. Took about five days. Glad to finally have the my collection archived into one space, not to mention the convenience of not having to fiddle with discs anymore. Such a relief. Have any of you guys done this? How many discs do you have and how big is your HDD?
  17. Thanks for the reply but what do you mean by "Program is packed"...?
  18. Wow...Torrence huh? Interesting. I might actually consider going this year, since it's only about 30 minutes away from where I live. Quick question though....will there be any screenings of any Macross movies or OVAs? Will you be showing DYRL on a large projection screen or anything like that?
  19. Thanks everyone! I registered at Crunchyroll and plan on subscribing to their service later this year. The site and service look BANANAS! I had always heard mumblings about a few websites here and there that were offering streaming services, but never really explored them. The fact that Crunchyroll airs the shows almost instantly after it airs in Japan *AND* with English fansubs is AMAZING! I can't wait to check out the rest of Naruto and Attack on Titan. I'm curious though...is it possible to pay a large chunk of your subscription in advance? Like say, pay for two years in advance? I've always hated paying monthly fees and am more of a large sum payment kinda guy.
  20. Was just browsing their site and was surprised to discover that no where do they say whether their videos are subbed or not. Can anyone address this question? And if they are, how good are the subs?
  21. Hi guys. Just curious but isn't Attack on Titan a brand new anime being aired in Japan? If so, how are you guys watching it already? Is being fansubbed and uploaded somewhere the moment it airs or something? Also how many more episodes to go until the show is over? Is it just one season?
