The WWE and Pro-Wrestling Thread 2

Recommended Posts

SummerSlam is this Sunday on PPV and the WWE Network. Here's the official card.

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

- Why it took UT over a year to avenge his WrestleMania loss still makes no sense. Face it, Taker - you've got nothing to prove anymore.

Title vs. Title: Seth Rollins (WWE Heavyweight Champion) vs. John Cena (WWE United States Champion)

- Despite all the negative reception, WWE has no plans to let Rollins drop the WWE title. At the same time, Cena will least likely let go of the U.S. belt; so expect a no-contest or a finish with no titles changing hands.

WWE Intercontinental Championship - Triple-Threat: Ryback © vs. Big Show vs. Miz

- Feed Me More... hot dogs and popcorn at the concession stand.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

- This is gonna be one long piss break.

WWE Tag Team Championship - Fatal Four Way: The Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O'Neil) © vs. Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) vs. The Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara & Kalisto) vs. The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston or Xavier Woods)

- No one's gonna pay attention to this match, but expect The New Day to regain the titles.

Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper vs. Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns

- Let's face it - Ambrose and Reigns have been completely wasted this whole year. No doubt that the Wyatt Family will take the win.

Stephen Amell & Neville vs. King Barrett & Stardust

- Arrow in a wrestling match?

Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

- Two of the most underrated workers in the company square off; neither of which will have a career boost after this match.

Dolph Ziggler (with Lana) vs. Rusev (with Summer Rae)

- This feud is going nowhere at all.

Divas Three-Team Elimination Tag Match: Team Bella (Nikki & Brie Bella & Alicia Fox) vs. Team B.A.D. (Naomi, Sasha Banks, & Tamina) vs. Team PCB (Paige, Charlotte, & Becky Lynch)

- This is gonna be one boring PPV.

Here are the details:

WWE Terminates Hulk Hogan, Erases Him from Web Site

I don't know with you guys, but WWE is a bit hypocritical on their side. They fired Hogan for making a racist remark outside the business, yet they also fired Alberto Del Rio because he reacted to a racist remark from a WWE executive (Koko B. Ware was also fired for nearly exactly the same reason, but according to Vinnie Mac himself, he fired the executive involved in that incident). Also, WWE really does not have a good track record with diversity.

On a side note, given that there's still bad blood between Hogan and Vinnie Mac, it's not surprising that Hogan would once again leave the WWE on a sour note.

Look at bolded part

Who would have thought THAT?! Especially since a McMahon has run as a republican candidate for US Senate...

Not a good week for the wrestling world:

- A TNA mid-carder has been arrested for domestic abuse. What else is new?

- After over 30 years of speculations, Jimmy "Superfly' Snuka is arrested under suspicion of the murder of his former girlfriend in 1983.

- A deranged fan is shot by police outside the WWE Performance Center when he made threats at them. Throughout this whole month, he made numerous attempts to trespass through the facility and even vandalized the facade with his own personal mess. WWE had already filed an injunction barring him from the premises. In addition, he was obsessed with a female wrestler (who was revealed to be AJ Lee).

WWE Night of Champions is this Sunday on PPV and WWE Network. Here's the card:

WWE Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins © vs. Sting

- Ratings have slid dramatically during Rollins' reign as champion, so here's what's gonna happen: Sting beats Rollins, then Sheamus runs in to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and give Sting the Brogue Kick to become the new champ. Then he'll feud with Brock Lesnar for the title.

WWE United States Championship: Seth Rollins © vs. John Cena

- Having Cena regain the title wouldn't make any sense.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Ryback © vs. Kevin Owens

- Expect Owens to take home the gold.

WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E, with Xavier Woods) © vs. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray & D-Von)

- Get the Tables!

WWE Divas Championship: Nikki Bella © vs. Charlotte

- So Nikki has broken AJ Lee's record for longest-reigning Divas Champion, which means she'll finally drop the belt this Sunday.

Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and a Mystery Partner vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Braun Strowman)

- Don't be surprised if Erick Rowan is the mystery partner.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev (with Summer Rae)

- Has this feud gone anywhere?

Well if you wanted to get rid of no talent Divas this is the girl to do it. She has a reputation similar to Vader's of working very stiff. Heaven forbid she gives Nikki Bella a nose like her boyfriend Cena's or ruptures some other Diva's bolt ons.

Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen for a few reasons:

  1. By now, you should already know the WWE's reputation with Japanese workers. Take Kenta Kobayashi (a.k.a. Hideo Itami), for example. Even if he returns from his injury, he'll still be relegated to NXT territory until WWE decides to release him. Not convincing enough? How about Yoshi Tatsu, Tajiri, Taka Michinoku, and Funaki? What do they have in common? They were all downgraded to comic relief jobbers. And don't get me started with Jinsei Shinzaki...
  2. Continuing on the subject of Japanese wrestlers in the WWE, what success has the company had with Japanese female wrestlers? The Jumping Bomb Angels - and that was only for 8-9 months with little or no TV time outside of the PPVs they participated in.
  3. For reasons unknown, the WWE considers the Bella Twins (or at least Nikki) as the "crown jewels" of the Divas division. Harming Nikki Bella is a major no-no for two reasons: 1) John Cena is her fiance; and 2) John Laurinaitis is her soon-to-be stepfather (not that it should mean anything, but given WWE's state of affairs, it kinda does).

WIth that in mind, Kana a.k.a. Asuka will have a decent run on NXT, feuding with the likes of Sasha Banks or Bayley. If she does a few WWE stints, it's a guarantee that she'll be facing Paige or Charlotte on a regular basis. Yes, we'd have good Diva matches, but she'll never hold that godawful belt (which is probably a good thing).

This is honestly one of the better ppv's I've seen in quite some time. All the matches except for the Divas match had at least some entertaining bits. Maybe I shouldn't have shown my friends women's matches from the likes of Madusa/Alundra, Bull Nakano, Manami Toyota, and Megumi Kudo before the ppv started and it might not have seemed like such a complete pile of monkey crap in comparison.

One of my favorite moments was Cesaro completely running around and wrecking house. It was both awesome and hilarious at the same time.

I'm also surprised Alberto Del Rio returned given how he left the company in the first place for attacking that racist road agent backstage. I wonder if the Hogan incident played a part in it in an effort to try and not look so bad with how racial issues have been handled in the past?

As some of you have heard, Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury (a.k.a. "Unhappy Triad") at a house show in Dublin and will require surgery and at least nine months out of action. As a result, he's been stripped of the WWE Heavyweight Championship - meaning that the WWE's plan to break CM Punk's title reign record of 434 days has been thwarted, fortunately. A tournament will be held at this month's Survivor Series to determine the new WWE Champion.

If WWE were so intent on having Rollins erase CM Punk from the record books, why didn't they recycle the angle where CM Punk kept the belt even with a torn MCL? Stripping the title from Rollins simply removes him of any relevance to the Authority. The only thing for him to do when he comes back is to turn babyface, but he still wouldn't recover the momentum he had as Champion.

And since we're celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Undertaker, don't tell me he'll take the belt...

Expect Charlotte to keep the title, as Paige has lost all momentum.

TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs is this Sunday on PPV and the WWE Network. Here's the card:

WWE Heavyweight Championship TLC Match: Sheamus © vs. Roman Reigns

- Since this is the main event, don't expect piss breaks anymore, as everyone will be headed back to the parking lot.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Kevin Owens © vs. Dean Ambrose

- As Ambrose's championship momentum quickly deflated after Survivor Series, his only hope for relevance will be this match.

WWE Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E or Xavier Woods) © vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) vs. The Lucha Dragons (Kalisto & Sin Cara)

- Regardless of the outcome, the Botcha Dragons will not be winning this match.

WWE Divas Championship: Charlotte © vs. Paige

- Any interest in this feud is non-existent at most, but expect Paige to win and Ric Flair to screw over his daughter, accidental or not.

Tables Elimination Match: The ECW Originals (The Dudley Boyz, Tommy Dreamer, & Rhyno) vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, & Braun Strowman)

- Probably the only interesting match on the card.

WWE United States Championship Chairs Match: Alberto Del Rio © vs. Jack Swagger

- WWE doesn't owe Swagger any favors, so expect Del Rio to keep the belt. Besides, it would be better if this were a musical chairs match.
