imode Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Uxi, sure you don't have -22 and -23 confused? I mean, how could the YF-22 (with FOUR tail fins of different shape) possibly look more like the YF-21's TWO fins, when the YF-23 has TWO fins set at the same angle as the YF-21 with the same shape fins? That's always been the #1 thing---YF-23's tail configuration is utterly unique, and the same as the YF-21's. (Somewhat belatedly known as a pelican tail due to proposed X-32 configuration) I think it's the way the rear edge of the yf-21's wing is cut inwards slanting back towards the nose area before it meets the fuselage. It makes the diamond shape a little less obvious.
David Hingtgen Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Enough for now, maybe more later. (Trying to keep all pics below 50k)
Valkyrie Nut Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 awesome pics there david. its shame the YF-23 didn't win
Uxi Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Yeah as soon as I posted, I saw the engines coming out of the fuselage area (top view) and the way the vertical stabilizers angle out the same (side view). The shape of the YF-23 wings is triangular and different from the Omega One, though, and the YF-22's are a bit closer... But I might be colored by the shape of my Yamato rather than lineart and such that I don't have. But i'm less confused now. B)
