Those mounds may very well be the remains of the SDF-1, 2, and Khyron's ship, but the only ship of note out of all three is the SDF-1, so people just refer to the whole area as the SDF-1's remains. The SDF-2 did nothing of importance, and Khyron's ship...well, other than smacking into the SDF-1, it wasn't a famous ship. Similar to how Egyptian rulers would be buried with their servants, but hte tombs would be known only for the Pharaoh buried there. None of the servants' names would be brought up. The simple fact of the matter is that they dont LOOK like the ruins of the SDF 1, because they AREN'T the ruins of the SDF1. That's like trying to explain why the White House is white, and the Kremlin has those nifty spires, they have NOTHING in common. Why don't you ask that guy what the combination to Captain Kirk's personal safe is?, he sounds like the type that would know. Sort of like asking George Lucas to explain exactly HOW long ago and HOW far away "Long ago in a galaxy far, far away" is in relation to our galaxy and timeline.
