They are the men and women who load the missles and bombs on military aircraft. This is a plaque design that I paint for Aviation Ordnancemen in the U.S. Navy. With a Macross twist. Enjoy. I thought that same thing but I haven't seen anything close in his artwork. The original plaque was made from a patch and design on the back of a t-shirt.
