  1. Now don't get me wrong, I'd reluctantly (due to cost) buy a new one too. But if they were go over the 11 and figure a way to do with the current model (and do it well), they might sell more. I do see the forward canards as one of the major speed bumps though. But I think they stay on under the chest armor so there's your first change for a lean to a new mold/model. So yeah I see how it might be a stretch but it would be nice to keep it current.
  2. True but I, like I'm sure a whole slew of the fans hope they just work around the current model. As cool as it might be I just don't want the designers to over-do it by pushing another version of the VF-11 on the market. (A new scheme? Yes!! But a new re-design? No.) The current toy is really near perfect, IMO. . . With a ground up re-design we may have to go thru the whole boondoggle of, A) waiting for it to be sculpted and it might loose some its looks B) the whole (possible) breakage/parts replacement battle again C) that whole heavy price tag conundrum They could just make the parts slip-on, lighter (but not flimsy), and held in place via magnets in the halves. Just my thoughts. . . Also it wouldn't really need to go on a display stand but if it could SWEET!!!!
  3. Just a couple shots so far, I know not much but ill get it set up better soon. And no, that bit of sun was just to take the pics I don't leave the blinds open. Its actually a jewelry store display case, its pretty big and still a work in progress. Still gotta put a back on it, (to keep dust out) -replace the lights, (it came with installed incandesant heat lamps of all things) -and I'm considering replacing the bottom cabinet doors to display doors (for more shelf/display space)
  4. Any pics of your set-up/upgrade you can post?
  5. You could try this, but only if your not planning to sell the toys later. . . Cut the boxes at their corners/folds/seams and again use a binder to keep the sides in like a scrapbook. Just get one of those huge artbook/portfolio binders at the local arts/crafts store. And swing over to BigLots for a few tackle box inserts for the missles/small accessories, and put them in with your valks.
  6. Where did you get your mirrors from?
  7. Yeah the only reasons I keep things in boxes is due to lack of space, or I don't have the means to display it just right. But after a toy goes on a shelf, the box goes in the closet or packed up in a case in the garage. Mostly to avoid fading the boxes. But always ready to restow the toy that was packed in it, inserts and all. Then I put the manuals/instructions in coversheets in 3-ring binders. Sure it s little anal retentive but its worth it, I guess its kinda like a toy collector's coffeetable book.
  8. Well I have both and ever since they could talk they understood the difference between "Dad's toys" and "Their" toys. Daddy's toys are in his room and on his shelves, locked up and put away. Their toys are in their rooms and in the floor and only in their room. And for the better part of 14 years I have had only one mishap with my stuff but never anything Macross. When my girls were about 3 or 4, one of their playmates decided he wanted some of the Hot Wheels I'd been collecting. He took them when nobody was watching him, but when I got home that afternoon I got THAT feeling. The one where you look around a room and something is just out of place. When my oldest and my wife found out about it they went over and got them back, and my daughter yelled at the boy for taking them. Since then whenever kids come over my oldest watches out for my stuff and keeps kids away from it all. Even the stuff/collections in the garage. Ya just gotta teach them respect, and how much you value your stuff, now their stuff is another story. It also helps to put a lock on your door and teach them early.
  9. Now hold on, Yes I have done all of the aforementioned things, but I am still a realist. And its only fair to give in to the greater good. . . Anyone who's been coming to this site for as long as I have can tell you I was in the Navy stationed in Japan. Back then I had way more disposable income, with COLA helping out. And after serving and returning to the states money is just plain tighter. But my resposiblites always come first. My hobbies and passions come a close second. Over the years I've had to streamline/focus my collecting into select pieces or toylines that I truly want/like/love. With that said sure I've had to defend my purchase of toys over the third or fourth vacuum in two years (kids, made them buy the new one). But if you don't treat yourself sometimes you get overlooked. So I dont go to McDs or Bk to buy a valk, big deal. If my wife wants another set of antiques to sell, let her sell the stuff we still have piled up in the garage. And if the landlord, (who still hasn't fixed the garbage disposal in the last year) wants to gripe let her, she'll get the late charge too. But I, (like I'm sure we all do) work very hard to keep all my ducks in a row. And this is my hobby/reward for doing so day in, day out.
  10. I was thinking the same thing. But would rather buy a "VF-19A Excaliber" from "VFX-2" build. Although I am seriously considering buying this.
  11. True but with the cost of each piece it can be a real hard choice. . . Food or Macross Fight with wife or Macross Pay rent/mortgage or Macross  I speak from experience. I have gone hungry for Macross. I have slept on the couch for Macross. And YES, I paid the rent late for Macross. . . . But my fellow fanatics it was all worth it. . . . . :D
  12. And brother you wouldn't be the only one either!!! Hell I'd like to see a stealth version too (black with gunmetal trim), but it won't happen. Maybe even the "A" prototype without the forward canards, just a thought. But at least give us the full armor set and I'll be happy. Not so much if I have to buy another bird to put it on but, id still buy it cause it frakin' rocks like no other.
  13. Ya know after reaally thinking about it, I would really like to see what Yamato could do with the VF-17. Its varients would sell I'm sure pretty well. Both the standard and Millia's red would look so sweet on a shelf. Especially if Yamato goes all out on it like the VF-19 Kai.
  14. I say Max and Millia? Yes! AND I also agree with you on the VFX-2 scheme it would make a sweet toy varient.
  15. Just Mac plus, Gotta wait till tax time for the rest of Vermillion squad and that's about as far as I'm gonna get this year.
  16. Whew!!! This has been one hell of a debate! As I see it both sides have good points and counter-points. I just hope that both companies are seeing this and taking it all in. You know to step up the game and produce better items for 2012. They have the time and talent, with our cash the resources to make it one hell of a show.

    BUSTED!

Yeah she knew I was "Otaku" material when we started dating. Back in the day, Japan had some of the most kick-ass aracdes. We would spend my duty-free weekends just walking around Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku. Or catch a train back over to Yokohama just wondering around grabbing a bite at Seven/11, and just hang out in the parks. I miss those days. I'd find a new place and play a few games then move on, all the while she's cheering me on. Then we moved in together and she saw my toys, and soon after she bought me a Sega Saturn. At that point I knew I was "whipped" , that and the week we spent in Okinawa for our birthdays (both 5 days apart). She was SO damn hot in that bikini and those tanlines when she took it off. . . . (FULL BRAZILLIAN!!!!!) Good times. . . . :D Sorta on topic. . . I've busted her sleeping with her teddy bears, Totoro and Pingu a lot over the years. Also the time I bought her a ton of Coach bags, she let out a schoolgirl squeal that was tooo cute. She loves those bags, I caught her checking/trying them out with different outfits and scared her to death.
  18. I got my proximity suit ready if need be, cause I'm going to be talking about Robotech. I was wondering had the Zentradi (read another fleet from deep space), attacked the SC saga forces, could they have been able to hold their own or not? I don't think they had a chance. . . . Due to the Zent mecha and ships capabilities. I just find it hard to understand that after all that aerial/space combat the UN Spacy felt it was fielding the right gear. Now mind you yes these are (originally) from two differemt shows, but how did the writers think they could pull it off? I mean when I was a kid, I could tell something wasn't right. Here's what I thought. Not even once did they try to rebuild ANY of the capital ships from the previous war. (SDF, ARMD, nada. . .) Sure they (supposedly) had access to the factory satelite but no. Instead, we got HOVERtanks, Ajax (helos) and the Logan (half fighter/half gerwalk)? And NO capital ships whatsoever to take these units out into space to fight. Its as if fighting another spaceborne threat was the last thought on their minds. Next, they didn't even try the "Minmay attack/defense". Hell if it worked before why not give it a shot again? Nope, not one soul mentioned it till later in a "flashback". Well that's all for now I don't want to run the whole thread with just my ideas. What do you guys think? Sure it was flawed, but believe it or not I still like to watch it from time to time so I'm not hating on it.

Yeah stationed there for 11yrs it was pretty sweet but I didn't really get where I was til my second year. It was like, an epiphany "DOH" YOU'RE IN JAPAN YOU BONEHEAD!!! Then I started buying all kinds of toys, really taking notice of the land, food, alcohol and most importantly. . . . THE WOMEN!!! Love those women. Hell I'm still with my girlfriend/wife of 15+ years. (Most of my friends mariages didn't quite make it that long.) We just know where we both stand and take good care of each other. She lives like a cat (cute and sleeping most of the day ). Hits the stores for antiques and such, sells some of the trinkets on ebay/yahoo japan. Me I'm a trucker now so I buy when I can and spend time with her and kids when I get home.
  20. True, oh so very true!!! But if they can make it a worthy repaint then the chance on multi-sales go up almost exponentionally. Case in point the CF/mass production version of just about any valk, esentially an "army builder" to bolster/fill your display case.

Yeah Logos you're on the right track, but when I found out about it being 3 different shows it compelled me to find the originals. I don't know why but I always had the feeling that it was put together kind of odd. Not so much badly just odd. I think it might have been the whole Southern Cross saga set up. I mean after all the fighting they did in space they shift to tanks, not so cool looking gerwalk/half jets and odd looking helos that can fly in space? Don't get me wrong if you watch SDC Southern Cross (original anime) on its own it can be interesting, but very dry.
  22. I think the whole line might have benefited from just keeping the figures a seperate scale than the mechs. Or at least shrinking the scale some. Going a few hairs off-topic here. . . It was suffering from G.I.Joe/Star Wars envy, trying to break into that marketshare. Just a thought, but they could've gone with a scale closer to MASK, STARCOM or even Air Raiders. Not qutie sure if all those lines were selling at/around the same time. But I think the Veritech could've been made a better toy if it was a scale or two smaller. But the big 3 (G.I. Joe, Transformers, Star Wars) did have the boy's toy market (mostly) locked up.

I get where you're coming from, and while its a good standpoint. . . . . IMHO, I don't think it a real deep seated hate for Robotech per se as much as it is a disdain for HG and their past practices. I don't hate Robotech at all, like you said it was my entryway to Macross as a whole. So it holds a place in my "fandom" also. . . Which reminds me of another time I got busted onboard my first ship in the Navy the Independence (CV-62). Went out in Yokohama, found a toy/model store bought a few old school Bandai kits. Got back to the quarterdeck and had to have my bag checked, and surprise, surprise the OOD cracked up when he saw them and called them F-14 rip-offs. Left me mortified, so when I finished the first one caught up to him after a GQ drill and showed him on the mess decks what it did. He laughed again and called me crazy, but he did say he could see the attraction to it since it did look almost plausable.
  24. Don't sweat it I've got all three shows in the original Japanese format on DVD, and toys from each but Southern Cross. Not to mention Gungrave DVD/action figure, Crusher Joe DVD/Minerva And a slew of others, too many to name/wrong thread.

Yeah I had a passing thought of posting pics with my Valks across the country. Ya know like the traveling yard gnome, but I realized I don't get to stop as often as I'd like. Maybe next summer I'll give it a try, we'll see. "VF Trucker zig-zaging across the USA"
